What other amusement/theme parks to you like

Of course we are all WDW fans, but what other parks to you like? Why?

My answer.

Kennywood Park just outside of Pittsburgh. A traditional amusement park, first opened in 1898 I think. It started as a trolley park. It still has picnic pavillions, some wonderful wooden coasters that take advantage of the topography (the park is built on the bluff above the Monongahela River). A great wild mouse that is in a building. And one of the last Noah's Ark fun house type attractions. I have been going to this park my whole life. Its great.

I'm going to have to admit i've only been to 2 other theme parks, than Disney World. They were Sportsworld & Canada's Wonderland. I used to love sports world, but than I fell in love with WDW. Fun times when I was 5...and a good child.

I have only paid visits to Knotts Berry Farm and Universal Studios in California. To be honest I was not that pleased with either park. They were fine but I kind of comapre all parks (and other cruise lines) to Disney, and this may be unfair to other parks. But by doing this I always place Disney the best.

Six Flags do have great roller coasters, unfortunately coasters are now beating age in my life.

Non-Orlando theme park... I really liked Busch Gardens Europe in Williamsburg, VA. Very well kept and great shows.

Cedar Point... all the way. WDW is the best of the best for Theme Parks, but Cedar Point has been the number one in the known universe for Amusement/Thrill parks for 10 year running, or is it eleven... I always turn it up to eleven.

I like Kennywood too! I also like a VERY small park also in Pennslyvania called Waldameer. I think it's about the size of Fantasyland, but the kids like it and it is right on the shores of Lake Erie and the Presque Isle *****ula, which has some great beaches. They also have a MUCH better version of Primevil Whirl called Screaming Dragon that we love. The water log ride is NO Splash Mountain, but at the the bottom of the big hill are water shooters where you can put in a quarter and REALLY drench the riders with a big spray of water. Also they have "shows" that are ABSOLUTELY HILARIOUS...and they ummmm,
aren't comedy shows.

I'm ony about 90 minutes from Cedar Point, but I haven't been in years. I LOVE the Raptor coaster though. I have no desire to go though because I'm just not a fan of walking from one 2 hour line to the next 2 hour line, ect...

My favourite other than WDW would have to be Disneyland Paris. A mini, but better looking MK.


My non-disney park would be Alton Towers in Staffordshire, UK. It's got a good mix of both kids and adults rides and such a variety of different rollercoasters . This includes the worlds first vertical drop rollercoaster (its scary) and a great flying coaster.

definitely - my favorite non-disney park is Cedar Point!!!!

i'm originally a detroiter, so it was a pretty long haul for us to get there...
when my kids were little, we turned it into a 2 day trip, staying at one of those nearby motels (though i'd have liked to stay at the breakers)..

CP is heaven for coaster fiends like me....

although, despite all the new coasters on steroids, the best coaster on the planet will always be the good old wood one at CP - Gemini - oh yeah...a great great great coaster with lots of air time.....woo hoo...

love cedar point. camp there 2x a year........agree the lines are getting crazy and size restrictions are changing our likes of this park.LOVE magnum xl-200.

knoebels in PA is alot of fun and different. dogs allowed in park. great food. pay as you ride. relocated old time rides.

grew up in Kennywood. havent been to in over 35 years!!!!

Also Dollywood is very well themed and diverse in its attractions....

Hershey Park in PA. We live maybe 50 miles from there, and outside of WDW, it is our absolute favorite. The park carries a lot of good memories for both my wife and I, and almost reminds us of a mini Disney in some ways.

One of the nice features is Hershey's chocolate world, which is actually outside the park, and a huge attraction unto itself. Best part of it is it's free! Other than Hershey, we also enjoy spending our summers at Dorney Park in Allentown, which is maybe 5 minutes from our house. It's owned by Cedar Fair now, but has been around since the 50's and is a great family park which includes Wildwater Kingdom, a great water park.

We live about 10 minutes from Kings Dominion, but never go there. Instead, we drive the 45 minutes to Busch Gardens & Water Country, USA. We always get the Platinum Passport so we can do BG & WC and also do Sea World when we're in Orlando.

That's great to hear! We are planning to go to Williamsburg for vacation this summer, and I'm really looking forward to Busch Gardens.

We love Holiday World/Splashin Safari in Southern Indiana. Very clean, free soft drinks(!), free sunscreen. Great coasters and huge water slides.

I love Busch Gardens in Tampa. I was forced to go last December by my wimpy travel companions, and seems I was the only one who liked it (they don't do coasters). I can't wait to take my DS17 someday to ride Sheikra with me...he'd love it! 200 feet straight down, baby!

I wish Sportsworld had survived now that DD is old enough...

I don't mind Canada's Wonderland but I am not much of a thrill ride girl. And I HATE the gum thing...the last couple of times I was there people had been leaving their gum on the barren stems of the less than lively plants - EEEWWWWW!

We had a good time at Sesame Place, but it's draw is sooo limited for the younger set.

We liked it a lot too. The rollercoasters were AMAZING ! And with the different areas themed around different countries it even reminded me of EPCOT.


We are also fans of...dare I say it....US and IOA . I have been to them several times and they are on the list to do on our next trip. We also like Sea World.

Legoland! It's my son's favorite-- he picks that over Disney every time. It's the best family park, hands down.

For me, it's Universal in Hollywood. Great memories of the Halloween event in the 90's (chainsaw maniacs on the backlot tour!), and the Jurassic Park ride.

I know it's not all that creative, but I'd have to say Sea World (Kraken and free beer rocks!) and Universal IoA. Heard that Cedar Point rocks as well, just never had the chance to get out there. The Northeast isn't exactly a themepark haven, so our trips pretty much consist of Disney.....Boooooooring! I know
