What keeps YOU from scrapping?

I know we're all busy, but I was thinking today that if we hadn't gotten this laptop for Christmas, I would have to sit at the regular computer to be online, and I would probably do more scrapping. As it is, I sit on the couch with the laptop while the kids are playing.

Oh yeah, and if I didn't work, I'd have so much more scrapping time!

Is there something in particular that gets in the way of your scrapping?

Steph

Everything. I procrastinate by nature. I will find something to do other than what I should be doing. Do I have :laundy: to do, I'll clean toliets. Does the bathroom need cleaning, I'll do :laundy: .
Oh and the ever present :surfweb: .

Well, today it is a soccer game, basketball game, a kid's party and a 4H award party, and the 50% & 40% coupons I had for Jo's... but I will be scrapping tomorrow... I HAVE to scrap tomorrow... EVEN my family sees I need some time for "ME"... Besides that.. it's easy to scrap tomorrow because I need to do :laundy: which is where 99% of my scrap stuff is at...so I can do both and NOT be bothered! (yeah, right.. not be bothered! wishful thinking!) okay, off to the soccer game!!!

1. Working on swaps instead
2. Not having photos printed
3. Waiting for a swap to be returned
4. Lack of ideas

I was very excited to get my cruise photos so I could start scrapping then, but now I have to wait for the Cruise swap to finish in case there is something I want to use in the book. Plus I have a bigger problem in that I bought a special album while we were in Gibraltar. It is handmade, so I can't add pages, and there isn't enough pages to scrap the thousands of photos that I have. So I have to figure out what exactly is going in the special book and what will go in another book. Which is a daunting challenge.

I would work on other Disney books but most of the photos I have left are digital which I can't really afford to print right now because I just spent $90 on cruise photos, plus $200 on Cricut and 2 carts, plus things for swaps...

5. Not enough money.

I could have written everything that everyone has said. I am a huge procrastinator, the kids are so busy, the house is a mess, my friends live in a shiny silver box. :surfweb: LOL......

And not knowing where to start. I have so many pics from when I was little til we starting shooting digital. We have about 15,000 pics that are digital and not one printed.

And lack of time. DH is gone 90% of the time so dealing with the kids every day drains me emotionally, physically, and spiritually. And there is just not enough time in the day. When he is home we are trying to squeeze 7 days worth of stuff into 30 hours.

And lack of dedicated space! I have a super small house and no place to call my own. My stash is in the kitchen in the old breakfast nook (not big enough for 6 people) but that space is also the corral for coats, backpacks, shoes, and recycling. I scrap on the big table we have in the living room, but that is also the homework table, dinner table, computer table so I can't leave a 1/2 done project out.

click here and find the Milford, click on it to see the floor plans! The table is in the front windows of the living room and my stash is on the back wall of the alcove. I Cricut on the kitchen counter.

I have actually decided I'm doing yearbooks, starting when DH and I got married. That's about the only way I'll get through the old stock of pics. I will still do special albums for Disney trips, the kids through the years, etc but I have a ton of pics for the kids school projects, plays, field trips etc that really don't need special albums. So my new project is figuring out what goes where and in what order. Which is the nice thing about Digital, my camera will put things on my computer in order by date.

The thing that gets in my way is guilt...I guess that's the word for it. I am a SAHM and both of my kids are in school. So, theoretically, I should have plenty of time for scrapping BUT.....I feel like I have to "earn" the scrapping time. My morning routine is to put the kids on the bus, come in and run for an hour to an hour and a half on the treadmill (this is non-negotiable...I lost 65 pounds on WW and I am keeping it off!), stretch, shower, and then do some form of housework (laundry, cleaning, groceries, baking, bill paying). By the time all that is done, I have maybe an hour or two that I could scrap. Some days, when I am feeling creative, that's what I do. Other times, I sit here and look at all the nice pictures of the stuff you guys do:).

Now that I have dedicated space, though, I am getting more done. I can leave stuff out on the table and if I only have 10 minutes before I have to leave the house or meet the school bus, I can crop photos or play with a layout sketch.

YES!!!! guilt here too!!! I feel like I have to wash the dishes before I come here, do a load of laundry before sorting pics.

Why do moms feel guilty all the time???? Is is some ingrained thing in our DNA???

My biggest problem is procrastination. I will get home and then get on the computer and look through websites at new files for the wishblade, chat on the board, create a file for a swap, and then maybe think about scrapping but if i want to watch something different from DH I can't sit at the table and scrap instead I am on our bed. Since he is busy at night things are a little easier but I still tend to procrastinate unless I have a big goal and lots of things to do. Right now I am just not sure what to scrap next so I haven't done anything but projects. I am getting ready to start an ABC project where I am making 3 identical pages for albums and my goal is to finish for Christmas so maybe that will get me going.

Yes!

I need to bag & pack up some finished swaps, but first I had to put some laundry in, clean the recycleables (they won't take them dirty), and make something for lunch. Only after that was done did I get to do the swaps.

I only just opened up my Expressions and only because DH threatened to take it back if I didn't use it. :rotfl: So I cut out some frames. :rotfl2:

I think we're all in the same boat!

I procrastinate because I don't have ideas. I didn't scrap for almost a year because I felt like I wasn't creative enough and my pages were too plain, and I couldn't do any better.

so what do you think of it so far??? In using mom's I have learned there is a bigger learning curve but there are some really cool features. I needed to cut some pics shaped like puzzle pieces but on pictures so I used the center function and was able to get the pics just right without tracing and cutting by hand.

Main problems:
1) work - how dare they expect me to work for my money when I could scrap :rotfl2:
2) other family stuff - big birthday season at the moment!:scared1: plus kids need to be fed, have laundry done, put to bed etc.
3) Dh's crazy idea that the dining table is for eating on so I have to take stuff off :lmao:
4) waiting for supplies and/or swaps to come back - curse those postmen:mad: and non-returners :rolleyes1
5) doing swaps first!

Also, if Dh is on an early shift I feel I should maybe talk to him in the evening:rolleyes1 :lmao: If he's out in the evening - scrapping here I come!

1. Sewing (I have found a new hobby just as expensive as scrapbooking!).
2. Lack of organization (I would have to clean off the desk before I could start).
3. Hard to start. Once I start I go, go go, it's just hard to get started.

I'm so glad I have this board to check in on everyone else though!

i think it's the same for all of us. not enough time, lack of space, lack of creativity, all of those apply to me. i wish when the moment struck, i could just go and do it, but i have to find the right stuff and that's always a problem. we did wdw in august and i have not printed a pic yet:guilty: i just have not had a second to do anything since we got home. it's actually birthday season here too. i have 9 birthdays in the next 32 days! so printing pics is on the bottom of my list. not that i'm ready to scrap those pics, but i'd love to see them and put them in some kind of order for when i am ready for them.
this was a good ?.

oh and buffy i looked up that house and our last house was the cape cod. only i think it was made wrong, because it was smaller than that one. VERY small!!!! thanks for that link dh and i enjoyed checking it out.

Well, I've only cut out the frames. I have to read the book to figure out those features. If I can, I'd like to try to make some borders.
And Silly Me, I thought when it said small mats, that I could use the mats from the little bug. Not the 12x12. I'll be getting some more soon, so then I can play and not worry about wasting them.

the Cape Cod is pretty similar to ours. My grandparents had a Sears house in Newport, I loved it!!! It was a shame they had to sell it before I was old enough to buy it.

I tried the 12x6 mats and it slides everywhere. I'm going to go play with mine today, I picked it up yesterday.

Add that to the list of why I don't scrap more!! Too many new toys to play with.

For me it would be stress, though scrapping is my therapy but when I am really stressed, I sleep.

My reason is I have a really messy room. I keep telling myself that after I clean it up, I'll have more time to scrap.

I guess if I spent less time at my puter, I'd have more time to clean it up.

AC Moore is having a 40% off sale on totes and stuff, so I'm going there for some big binders. I like the idea of the scrap rack, but I don't think it is working for me right now...takes so much space. I was able to get 3 shelves hung today, so that will help alot with getting stuff up...

But when you scrap it doesn't stay clean! That is another problem I have. My supplies are pretty organized. I'm not happy with the organization, but things do have a place. But my table is always covered. And it's not a dinky table either. The biggest culprit is paper scraps, and the paper I have out because I'm trying to pick stuff for swaps. Every day that I work on stuff, I have to clean. My scrap space is in the computer room, so DH will come in and just shake his head, laugh, and say, "I thought you cleaned up?"
