What is your PS strategy?

I'm curious how everyone plans their PSs. Here's what I do: I make the one or two or three PSs that I know I just can't live without doing on my trip at ot around the 90 day mark. Then I make my others the same day I would like to eat there, either by calling Disney Dining on my cell phone or visiting guest services in the morning. I have never not gotten to eat at a restaurant I would like to try using this strategy, although it does require some flexibilty.

I think that sounds like a plan. Me and Jake are doing that for our anniversary trip in July. I'm a little worried that it will be harder to get tables due to this new dining plan...but I just can't plan every meal of my vacation. We plan on doing the cell phone calls depending on what parks we'll be at.

LOL, I am NOT a theme park commando, but I am most certainly a PS commando! ANyone else plan a PS for 2 meals a day? I do, simply because last year, I cannot tell you how many people we saw being turned away during the busy time of year we went because there was no availability, while we walked in with our PS :) I don't like waiting for food, haha, and I guess I am too much of a control freak to wait until we get there and risk not getting what we want. :earboy2:

I usually make a PS for 2-3 days of a 5-6 day trip for those restaurants that are on our must-do list. For instance, when we're going to the MK and want to eat at the CP, I'll either make an early PS for breakfast (8:05 perhaps) or a PS for lunch. More than likely, that will be our only PS for that day. The same would apply for or dinner. We usually eat at Chef Mickey's, Cape May Cafe, or the Rainforest Cafe on a non-park day (which could include our arrival and departure days), so that doesn't interfere with touring. I guess this works for me because I generally know which parks we'll be at most every day.

Starting May 15th I'll be making about 22PSs for our Aug vacation. DS13 & I will be in WDW for 2wks.

i usually have 1 sit down meal per day - and I make PS's for them - usually round our "normal" eating time

I'm compulsive I guess--but dining at WDW is the highlight of our trip. So we make all our PS dinner arrangement just as soon as permitted.

Many of the places we were at last June turned people away without a ps. I also know that getting a ps for Sci Fi and Prime Time at a good time last year about 4 weeks out was very difficult. I made all of mine 90 days out this year.

Another PS commando. A few years ago my DH was really bugged by having all these PSs before we went. He thought we should just wing it. At the time our kids were 2, 4 and 5 and we go in the summer! After the first trip he now thanks me profusely for making all the PS arrangements. Yes we have at least one, and most times 2 PS a day. I never have to worry that I'll be stuck with three hungry kids in July heat and humdity wandering around looking for a place to eat! Actually we love table service WDW restaurants and even with a long vacation I have trouble deciding which old ones to keep and which new ones to try. THis year our new ones are Restaurant Marrakesh (sp?), Boma and Le Cellier.

On past trips we have only made 1 or 2 PSs and then eat most other meals at counter/food courts. As we are going over Christmas this year with heavy crowds expeced, we didn't fancy waiting in long lines for lunch and dinner at counter service restaurants, so we plan to get about 3 PSs our frst week and then from the 24th we plan to get a at least 1 PS everyday :)

For our next trip I planned all of our ps's at the 90 day mark. The problem with doing that is the park hours haven't been released yet. I may have to call and make adjustments when that happens.

I think it depends on what time of year you are going. We are going to be there for the fourth of July weekend, and there was no way I was going to risk making same day ps's. :teeth:

Definitely two ps's per day. (Except for the day we plan on being at AK.) This time I am going with the late breakfast/early dinner strategy. Last year we did the early breakfast/late lunch routine. (Maybe next trip we should try early lunch/late dinner. )

All I know is - I need to have a plan. And - I like being in control. No arguing about when/where we are going to eat, it is decided (by me) before we even get there. (We have plenty of other things to argue about. :rotfl: )

I had a really hard time with making PS's just because I never had before. We normally go during off season but due to army vacation this year we are going in June. We also never really know what park we are going to until the night before or the morning of. I just went ahead and made Ps's for the places I know that we wanted to eat and either made them for breakfast or for our regular dinner time. I think if we are in just one park and have to go to another we will or try to change it. We'll see I guess if this goes okay. does this sound like a plan?
