What is your most ridiculously easy dish that draws raves?

We used to beg my mother to make this cake. OMG - it is so good. But my mother used to make it with real whipped cream, the kind you make homemade .:lovestruc

Here's a pic I found::love:

That does look good! :) I'll have to look for those cookies and give it a try.

This is a really easy Chicken Cordon Bleu Recipe.

4 boneless and skinless chicken breast halves
4 slices of ham
4 slices of swiss cheese

Place chicken breasts in a lightly-greased 9x13-inch baking pan. Lay the ham slices on top of the chicken and then lay down the swiss cheese slices.

In a separate bowl mix together:

1/2 (10.75-ounce) can of condensed cream of chicken soup
1/2 cup sour cream
1/4 cup white wine

Pour this mixture over the chicken/ham/cheese. If you wish, sprinkle with 1/2 package of Stove Top stuffing mix.
Bake at 350 degrees for 40 to 45 minutes.

This recipe also freezes and reheats really well.

It is assembled and ready to bake tonight but, dang it, I forgot the sour cream and doubled the wine.

I am mesmerized by this idea. I have never seen those cookies though. What does the package look like? Is it just a single layer chocolate cookie, like a Vanilla Wafer, but not vanilla?
LOL, I buy those for myself. So good!

This is so easy, I hesitate to type it, but:

Chili con Queso

1 15 ounce can of store bought chili
1 3 ounce brick of cream cheese
2 scallions chopped
2 Tablespoons chopped cilantro

Heat all together until the cheese melts. Serve in a cute bowl with pretzel rods for dipping.

More please!!

I always make my pot roast with dry onion soup mix. Just put the roast, potatoes, carrots, onion (whatever you want) in the crock pot with one package dry onion soup and one packet (Just fill the little onion soup thing) of water. Always delicious and I get lots of compliments!

I do the same thing - except instead of the water, I drizzle A-1 sauce over it. OMG!!! It is soooo good!!!

Really? :confused3 I buy the packaged mix that comes in a box - Betty Crocker or something like that, there are many to choose from and they're simple to make - IIR you just add water to the mix and bake. Or, you could always make your own from scratch. Let me know...

We do have a variety of mixes, but not gingerbread. :guilty:

Yes they are like chicken nuggets. I am not sure about being healthier because of the butter! LOL

A stick of butter is 8 tablespoons. We get four sticks to a pound. I hope that helps!

Ruby

Thank you for the explanation!

Beer bread (made this just last night)

3 cups self rising flour
1/2 cup sugar
1 beer

Mix and put in greased loaf pan. Bake at 350 for 45 minutes. Drizzle with melted butter and bake for another 10 minutes or so.

On my list to try :thumbsup2

I use V8 juice instead of the water, and it's also really good.

Spiders

1 cup of chocolate chips
1 cup of butterscotch chips
1 cup of nuts
1 cup of chow mein noodles

Melt the 2 kinds of chips together
Mix in the nuts and chinese noodles
Using a teaspoon, put plops of the mixture onto a cookie sheet covered in wax paper

They freeze well.

If you aren't going to serve them immediately, freeze or at least refrigerate them for a while.

You can also add marshmallows or raisins, but for every "dry" ingredient you add, you need to add an equal amount of chips. So, if you add the nuts, the chinese noodles, raisins and mini-marshmallows, you'd need to do 2 cups of chocolate chips and 2 cups of butterscotch chips, because you'd have a total of 4 cups of "dry" ingredients, so you need a total of 4 cups of chips.

If you cover the cookie sheet with wax paper, you won't even have to wash it. These take literally about 5 minutes to make.

People LOVE them.

The chinese noodles kind of stick out like spiders legs when you plop them on the cookie sheet, which is why I call them spiders. They are a fun treat for a Halloween party.

I am going through this entire thread this weekend and organizing it so I can try some new meals, shopping lists included!

Camicar I would love to have that recipe for carrot cake that uses baby food carrots.

Me too! I love carrot cake!

I have the best appetizer for parties - last year, I couldn't get people away from it - they practically licked the plate it was on.

Take a round of brie and cut off the rind on top (leave the rind on the sides and bottom.) Place on puff pastry. Spread with roasted garlic and onion jam or carmelized onions. Wrap the puff pastry around and seal at the top. bake at 400 degrees for 35-45 minutes, until brown on top.

I usually buy 2-3 jars of the jam a year just to make this. Sounds weird, but it is outrageous in this recipe. Here is where I get it from:

My best friend's salad is super easy and delicious too.

Mesclun mix
Black mission figs, cut into pieces with cooking shears
Feta cheese
Chopped nuts (candied walnuts are very good)

Top with balsamic vinaigrette.

I am so glad you are going to try it. While it might not be as thick and creamy as the original recipe, I would love to hear what you think about the altered version

I make our kids a special Halloween dinner every year (featuring 'Octopus and Seaweed,' which is basically a strategically-cut hot dog sitting on a bed of green-tinted ramen noodles  )

I am going put Spiders on the menu for this year, thanks!

I am pretty sure everyone knows this one as well, but I am going to post it again just because it is so ridiculously easy and yummy:

CLODHOPPERS

4 cups Golden Graham cereal, crushed
1 cup unsalted cashews, chopped
2 cups white chocolate (made for melting), melted

Pour white chocolate over cereal and cashews, stir to coat evenly.

Spread mixture onto wax paper, let cool.

When hard, break into pieces.

DS12 loves these 2 recipes. They are super easy and really good.

Teriyaki Chicken Thighs
1/4 cup soy sauce
2 tablespoons brown sugar
1/4 cup rice vinegar
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon finely grated fresh ginger (or 1/8 teaspoon powdered)
6 to 9 skinless chicken thighs
sesame seeds

Combine all ingredients, except chicken and sesame seeds, in a Ziploc bag. Seal and shake until sugar is disolved. Add chicken and marinate in the refrigerator for up to 4 hours.
Heat broiler. Arrange chicken in foil lined broiler-safe pan, skin side down (if there was skin) and broil until brown and crispy, about 6 minutes. Flip the chicken over and broil until almost cooked through, about 6 minutes longer. Sprinkle with sesame seeds and cook until the seeds turn golden brown and the chicken is done, 1 to 2 minutes longer. Meat thermometer should read 170°.

Portuguese Grilled Chicken Thighs
1/2 cup red wine vinegar
2 teaspoons salt
1/2 teaspoon coarsely ground black pepper
2 teaspoons dried oregano (1/4 cup fresh chopped is better)
1/4 cup olive oil
6 to 9 chicken thighs

Combine vinegar, salt, pepper, oregano and oil. Marinate chicken for 30 minutes to 3 hours. Grill until cooked through.

Equal parts flavored yogurt and cool whip mixed.
Chilled in a grahm cracker pie crust. It takes less then 5 minutes to whip up and is delicous.
I make this and freeze it. You just need to let it sit for a couple of minutes before serving so it softens enough to cut.

The yogurt/cool whip filling is also a great fruit dip :thumbsup2

The cookie log reminded me of one I've had.

Chips Ahoy Chocolate Chip Cookies
Milk
Cool Whip

Dip each cookie in milk then place in a bowl, top with cool whip, repeat with as many layers as you wish to have. Let it sit at least an hour in the fridge for the cookies to soften.

**Going to the kitchen now to break open the bag of cookies**
OMG, that sounds fantastic!!

Ok here's mine...very easy and always is gone within minutes.

Hashbrown Casserole
I LOVE this one. We don't make it often, but it's so yummy.

Easiest thing in the world. My husband calls it "buttery pasta" - and that's really all it is - but he adores it.
Basically, all I do is make spaghetti, and once it's drained and back in the pot, add butter (actually more like I Can't Believe It's Not Butter), salt, pepper, garlic powder and parsley. A little oregano from time to time, maybe a little parmesan cheese... that's it - but for some reason, he flips for it.

He'll eat that like it's a filet mignon, but won't accept macaroni and cheese as an entree :confused3
I make this as well but I add hamburger to it. I usually brown it first with some onion, salt and pepper and then add it to the pasta mixture. Very tasty.

Spiders

1 cup of chocolate chips
1 cup of butterscotch chips
1 cup of nuts
1 cup of chow mein noodles
My grandmother makes these all the time for get togethers. They're very good ::yes::

Here are a couple of mine...

Mint chocolate chip pie

1 chocolate pie shell
1 half gallon (or whatever size they are now  ) mint chocolate chip ice cream, defrosted

Let the ice cream sit out until it's soft enough to pour into the shell easily...not melted, but soft. Spread evenly, put back into the freezer and re-freeze. I've served this with hot fudge and it's very good and SO easy.

Simple cheesecake

1 block 8oz cream cheese (softened)
1 8oz tub of cool whip
1/3 cup sugar
2 tbsp milk
Graham cracker crust

Mix the cream cheese, cool whip, sugar and milk with an electric mixer. Pour into graham cracker crust and refrigerate for a few hours. You can serve this with any typical cream cheese topping. I prefer to eat it with chocolate chips on top.

these were on my DD's school lunch menu last week - I had no idea what the heck they were...very timely!!!!!:)

Thanks for the tip about freezing this and/or using it as a fruit dip!

My family really liked recipe a whole lot :thumbsup2
