What is your most ridiculously easy dish that draws raves?

Hey! That's MY thread I started. :woohoo:

Cookies from cake mixes! Also: BISCOTTI and Cookie BARS

It has now been made a permanent sticky on the Cooking Board. It gets about 200 hits every 2 days. So I am really happy it's so useful to people. :cool1:

I just added some cookie recipes with cream cheese in them. I figure they are slightly more healthy with a bite of cream cheese. :rotfl:

I'll be adding some more recipes in a few days. :)

:goodvibes

I LOVE that thread! I will be using it a lot this school year! We had back to school night tonight. I signed up to bring in baked goods, and supply stuff for holiday parties. I know that thread will come in handy!

We used to beg my mother to make this cake. OMG - it is so good. But my mother used to make it with real whipped cream, the kind you make homemade .:lovestruc

Here's a pic I found::love:

I went food shopping today and these ingredients were on my list - can't wait to make this!!

I didn't notice until I got home that the cookies cost $4.29! Oh, but it will be SO worth it!

Beer Bread:

I loved the ease of this recipe, but it is quite a sweet bread. What would happen if I cut down on the sugar in the recipe??? What difference would that make to the outcome???

I made this cake last night. YUM! It was a big hit, but I think I'm missing something. Do you just make one long row of cookies, or do you make two rows side by side and frost it all together?

FRUIT BARK

White chocolate for melting.

Candied fruit.

Pour white chocolate over candied fruit and let cool, then break apart. This looks really pretty at Christmas time.

I made this with dried cherries and almonds! Very good!

We call it Corn Dip

1 Can MexiCorn
1/2 Cup Mayo
1/2 Cup Sour Cream
4 Cups Shredded Cheddar Cheese (I sometimes mix sharp and mild)
6 Green Onions chopped

Mix all and enjoy with your fav chip (really good with Fritos)

**DH said he wanted to try jalepeno's mixed in (probably really good). Also, we played around with adding taco seasoning and it was good.

I have an recipe similar to this, it's from one of my "women's league" cookbooks. Except no green onions, 3 cans of Mexicorn, 3oz (or whatever the small can is) of chopped green chiles, chopped jalepenos (I decide how hot to make it each time, and I separate some dip for the kids that doesn't have any,) 1 cup each of Mayo (Hellman's) & sour cream & I think it's 4 cups (the big bag) shredded cheddar (I add more.) It also calls for garlic salt & hot sauce which I never add. Served COLD and licked clean with Tostitos at every bbq!

I'm adapting a recipe from the Kraft Food and Family recipe magazine, Fall 2008, pg 21. It's pork chops with apples and stuffing (I thought I saw it here, I had to hunt to find it!)

Pork Chops with Apples and Stuffing

1 package 6 oz Stove Top Stuffing Mix for Chicken
1 can (21 oz) apple pie filling
6 boneless pork loin chops (1 1/2 lb) 3/4" thick

The original recpie calls for heating the oven to 375. Prepare stuffing as directed on package. Spread pie filling onto bottom of 13 x9 " baking dish sprayed with cooking spray; top with chops and stuffing. Cover with foil. Bake 30min.; uncover. Bake an additional 10 min. or until chops are cooked through.

I'm adapting the recipe for the crock pot. I'll let you guys know how it turns out!

ETA- It was alright done in the crock pot. I think it probably would've been better baked.

*** I did see the Autumn Pork Chop recipe. I'd like to try that too. I'm out of apple juice.

BCDisneyFanatic: I am making your pasta tonight. If not fresh, do you use a pound of the dry? Very excited to try this one.

Enchilada Casserole

Brown 1 lb of ground beef - I add some taco seasoning, garlic, onion, etc.

Add to the beef:
One can of enchilada sauce
One can of cream of (anything) soup - I use cream of onion
a little sour cream - about 1/2 cup
milk to thin a bit.

Layer (as many layers as you can make) in a baking pan:

Broken up tortilla chips
beef Mixture
Mexican cheese

Top with broken chips and shredded cheese, bake at 350 until the top layer of chips is crunchy and the cheese is bubbly.

I will definately be trying this next time....:thumbsup2

I love this dip, but we do it a little different:

2 cans of Mexi Corn (drained)
1 cup Mayo
1 pinch of sugar
2 whole jalapenos (chopped)
1 cup Sour Cream
1 small can Mexican chilis
1 bunch of green onions (chopped)
8 oz shredded chedder cheese

Mix and refrigerate for 1 hour

I made this one for a baby shower last weekend... For as easy as it was, it sure was the favorite!

Cheese Straws

1/2 package frozen puff pastry (1 sheet)
3/4 C Parmesan cheese
1 egg white
1 Tbsp water

Whip the egg and water together.

Unfold the sheet of puff pastry and brush with egg mixture. Sprinkle cheese on top, and spread it out. Cut the pastry into 1/2 inch strips (I used a pizza cutter and just freehanded it, but you could use a ruler for straighter cuts)

Place the strips on a cookie sheet and bake according to pastry's directions (for us I believe it was 400 degree oven for 14 minutes)

I also twisted each strip to make the straws more interesting looking.

The very high-end catering company I used to work for makes these. They are to die for. :faint: I think they also brush these with melted butter first. Maybe they mix it into the egg mixture.

Can of chicken, drained
tub of cream cheese, softened (I use chive)
can of crescent rolls

Mix chicken and cr ch, lay out on a triangle of crescent roll dough. Add a blob of chicken mixture, pull up ends of dough, and pinch shut. It you want to get fancy, you can brush the tops with butter and top with crushed croutons or seasoned bread crumbs. Bake as directed or until done. You can usereduced fat rollsand cr ch but not fat free cream ch.

These sound great - I'm going to make these and add crumbled feta.

Sorry I didn't see your question earlier! I hope it turned out for you...I've always used fresh pasta myself (either homemade or storebought when short on time), so I can't help you with quantities for dried. The recipe would serve at least four good-sized bowls of pasta once cooked (depending on how "saucy" you like it). It can also be thinned down with a bit of milk or cream to stretch it further if needed.

Cheese/salsa dip

I toss in a handful of finely shredded sharp cheddar cheese to a cup of salsa. I like it cold but it would be good warm too.

An easy quiche.

An unbaked pie crust. I like the Pillsbury and use a quiche plate.

2 cups shredded cheese. I mix swiss and sharp cheddar but you could use other types.

1/2 lb hard salmi cut into small dices or chunks

4 eggs

1/2 cup milk ( I have used canned, 2%, part half and half)

1/2 teasp. dry dill weed

a few shakes of seasoned salt.

Put the cheese and meat in the pie shell, mix the eggs, milk and spices and pour over. Bake at 375 until nicely browning on top, usually 40 min. for quiche but longer for a pie pan.

My family loves this. I have also added mushrooms, diced peppers/onions and used different meats at times.

BTW, how do you save your favorite recipes from a post like this???

I have started to open a page in word or notepad and I copy and paste the recipe. I just keep adding them to the list as I go. Sometimes I rearrange them then copy or I just save the page. Sometimes I copy as is.

This makes it easier for me than having to remember the page, etc.

I just love these kinds of posts.

If you go to "thread tools" and select "show printable version" you can print it and I *think* you can save it by copying and pasting it in word from there. I need to save this thread too. Lots of great ideas! :)
