Mine is banana bread. I am hoping to find a recipe.

I love banana bread. I would love a recipe. Especially if part of it could be made in the mixer or bread machine, but I'd love any recipes you might have.

I make a great pumpkin bread. ;)

Here's a recipe I have for banana bread. I heard it's fabulous, but I haven't had a chance to try it yet.

BIG TIME BANANA BREAD

1 stick plus 2 Tbsp. butter, softened
1 cup sugar
1 cup brown sugar
6 eggs
2 tsp. vanilla extract
3 cups mashed, very ripe bananas (about 6-7 mashed by hand with a fork)
3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 cup sour cream or heavy cream
2/3 cup chopped walnuts

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Spray bottoms ONLY of 2 loaf pans with non-stick cooking spray. Beat butter in Large mixing bowl with mixer set at medium speed until light & fluffy. Add both sugars and beat well. Add eggs and vanilla; beat until well blended. Add mashed bananas and beat on high for about 30 seconds.
In a medium bowl, combine flour, baking soda, salt, & baking powder; mix until combined well. Add flour mixture to butter mixture alternately with cream. Fold in walnuts. Pour batter evenly between the 2 loaf pans. Bake until browned and toothpick inserted in center comes out clean, about 1 hour and 15 minutes. Cool in pan on wire rack for at least 10 minutes. Remove from pan & cool completely. Slice & Serve. Serve alone, or with butter or with cream cheese.

Amish friendship bread- Wish I had the recipe! That pumpkin bread recipe sounds really good! :)

Crap.... I hate this Mozilla fill in the form.... thing

Can you share the pumpkin bread too... My son will love you for it :goodvibes

Sorry about the post, 2 posts back. It was an answer to a Seinfield topic a few days ago. Mozilla fills in like a form... and keeps it :( I didn't even see it and accidently hit submit.

I've tried that bread and it is delicious! I'll see if I still have the recipe.

My absolute favorite bread is banana bread.

OH MY GOODNESS I second that.
I also like Sourdough.

Here's the pumpkin bread recipe. My friend gave it to me. (another friend of mine made Friendship Bread for me and it was FABULOUS! I think it takes like 10 days to make? I asked her for the recipe and she said no, lol.)

Pumpkin Bread

1 cup cooking oil
1 can pumpkin, or 1 1/2 cup fresh pumpkin flesh
4 eggs
3 cups sugar
3 1/3 cups flour
2/3 c milk
1 1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp nutmeg
2 tsp baking soda
2 tsp cinnamon

Preheat oven to 350. Grease and flour pans well. In a large bowl combine all ingredients. Pour into pans and bake for 1 hour or until pick comes out clean.

I usually use a bit less sugar, like 2 1/2 cups or something. 3 cups just seems like so much to me. I usually bake these in 4 13oz coffee cans because I like how they look. However you can also bake them in two loaf pans.

Well that wasn't very nice. :sad2:
We have got to get our hands on that recipe. Someone on the DIS has got to know it. You guys know everything! :teeth:

From allrecipes.com (there are other variations on the website too):

Amish Friendship Bread Starter:

Ingredients
1 (.25 ounce) package active dry yeast
1/4 cup warm water (110 degrees F/45 degrees C)
3 cups all-purpose flour, divided
3 cups white sugar, divided
3 cups milk

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

DIRECTIONS:
In a small bowl, dissolve yeast in water. Let stand 10 minutes. In a 2 quart container glass, plastic or ceramic container, combine 1 cup flour and 1 cup sugar. Mix thoroughly or flour will lump when milk is added. Slowly stir in 1 cup milk and dissolved yeast mixture. Cover loosely and let stand until bubbly. Consider this day 1 of the 10 day cycle. Leave loosely covered at room temperature.

On days 2 thru 4; stir starter with a spoon.
Day 5; stir in 1 cup flour, 1 cup sugar and 1 cup milk.
Days 6 thru 9; stir only.
Day 10; stir in 1 cup flour, 1 cup sugar and 1 cup milk. Remove 1 cup to make your first bread, give 2 cups to friends along with this recipe, and your favorite Amish Bread recipe. Store the remaining 1 cup starter in a container in the refrigerator, or begin the 10 day process over again (beginning with step 2).

Editor's Note:

Once you have made the starter, you will consider it Day One, and thus ignore step 1 in this recipe and proceed with step 2. You can also freeze this starter in 1 cup measures for later use. Frozen starter will take at least 3 hours at room temperature to thaw before using.

Amish Friendship Bread:

INGREDIENTS:
1 cup Amish Friendship Bread Starter
2/3 cup vegetable oil
3 eggs
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup white sugar
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1 1/4 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

DIRECTIONS:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease 2 (9x5 inch) loaf pans.
In a large bowl, combine the Amish bread starter with oil, eggs, 2 cups flour, 1 cup sugar, 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon, 1/2 teaspoon salt, 1/2 teaspoon baking soda, 1 1/4 teaspoons baking powder, and 1 teaspoon vanilla. Mix well. Pour into prepared loaf pans.
Bake in preheated oven for 50 to 60 minutes.

My favorite banana bread is the one from Wilderness Lodge! More often, though, I use the bread machine to make a variety of yeast breads. I love the taste, but just wouldn't bother if I had to knead it every time.

Let me know if you want any recipes for a bread machine.

Strawberry Banana Bread
from the Whispering Canyon Cafe, Wilderness Lodge
2 tsp baking soda
1 c butter
2 c sugar
1 ½ lb strawberries
2 c bananas
(~6 medium)
4 eggs
1 tsp salt
3 c flour

Grease two loaf pans & preheat oven to 325. In a large mixing bowl, cream the butter & sugar. Incorporate bananas scraping sides of bowl. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing thoroughly after each. Set aside. In another bowl, mix together salt, baking soda & flour. Add flour mixture to butter mixture & stir until blended. Add strawberries (thawed). Bake 60 to 75 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Cool completely on a rack before inverting onto a plate.
