We mailed about 10 postcards on 4/21 from POFQ to Massachusetts. People just got them today!

I guess next time I will drive outside the park and mail them! Anyone ever experience this huge delay?

YES!!!!
On our first ever visit we sent real whole coconut's from the CBR. It was so cool but was $10.00 a coconut. Anyway, we sent 4 out..Some to our Parents and some to Family. We were home for almost 4 weeks believe it or not before anyone had ever gotten theirs. They all lived in Michigan.
Chatty

This often happens with postcards, I believe because they are mailed at a lower rate than a letter. The pineapples, though, that's amazing! I would be angry if I paid to ship them and it took that long

The answer is simple: Mail in Florida stinks. I mean no offense to postal workers because it is highly unlikely that they are the cause. It is poor management. I can receive a Priority package from California in less time than I can receive a Priority package from Pensacola (35 minutes away). It takes even longer when I expect something or mail something to south or central Florida. The main hubs are horrible and do not care if they receive complaints. Everyone complains!

I am a retired postal worker, and can attest to the fact that many people seem to have problems with their mail to FL. From my area in Missouri, we also have problems to/from Texas. No offense to employees in either area.

It all really depends on what kind of management is in a given area. When I first started at the PO, it was drilled into us the most important thing was customer service, no matter the cost. Nowadays, the PO is trying to be more corporate, with making money the main focus. The PO is supposed to be a public service, and not supposed to make money, just break even, but they are headed away from that right now. Hopefully, it will come full circle, and customer service will be number one again someday. It may be too late, however, as there are more and more choices for mailing your pkg.!

I'll get off my soapbox, now!!:teeth: BTW, postcards, though cheaper, are still considered First Class, and get the same treatment as a letter.

I am glad I am not the only one with postcard problems. We almost always beat our postcards home from WDW..... even if they are mailed the day we arrive! My post office here at home is NJ anthrax central. All of our mail is still getting rerouted to North Jersey. it's odd how some mail can get to it's local destination in one day, and something mailed the same exact time gets to the same exact location 2-3 days later. Our post office should (hopefully) be reopened by the end of the year. I can't wait! :Pinkbounc

Welcome to Florida snail mail! I had a piece that took 5 days to get across the state. I could have personally delivered it a lot faster than that! :sad2:

A few months ago I mailed a business letter from Central Florida to Charlotte, NC. Never getting a reply back from these people, I phoned their customer service to make an inquiry. When they heard the letter was mailed from FL, this was their reply: "Oh, it was mailed from Florida? That's the problem then. We have a horrible time getting things mailed out of Florida! Lots of it never gets here!" :(

My DBF always gets postcards from me in weird orders...And once I mailed 3 on the same day at the same time and place (let's just say I forgot to send my daily postcard for a few days) and they got there on all different days, 2 nearly a week apart!

My Mom sent me a post card from Hawaii in 1962.. I received it in 1984.......

This is making me wonder where Modern Bride magazine is mailed from....I didn't get my first issue until nearly a month after I received the second issue, and they're bimonthly! It looked like it had been through WWIII and had a rubberband around it holding it together! I laughed so hard because I had complained and complained to the company saying they couldn't have sent it, they must not have gotten my subscription in time to send that issue....I apologized, don't worry!

This made me laugh out loud! Not the issue, but the way you put it!!:teeth:

The anthrax issue itself is really nothing to laugh about, the KC office that ships our mail to us tested positive for anthrax after getting a shipment from the Brentwood facility that "accidentally" got through. Let me tell you, all of us were terrified to show up to work, until some time passed and nobody got sick.:( I don't know how those poor postal employees at Brentwood were able to do it. They really are heroes, too, in my book.

I've heard that if you mail a postcard with a first class $0.37 stamp that it gets the priority of a letter and is mailed quickly. Is this true or am I wasting my stamp!?

You are wasting your stamp. Postcards, while cheaper, are still considered First Class, just like letters, and are given the same treatment.

Not to gloat, but we can get anything from just about anywhere in the U.S. in 2-3 days. Guess I'm lucky:D

We mail our cards/letters off of Disney property. Disney doesn't take the post cards that you mail from their property to the post office every day. Found that out by asking the front desk at the Polynesian one day. If you want slow try mailing a post card from Mexico or the Caribbean.

We made the mistake of mailing a bill from the Animal Kingdom Lodge almost two weeks ago.

When my wife noticed the check hadn't posted yet, we did a little investigating. I ended up calling guest services at AKL and they told me the mail doesn't even leave from the resort hub for 2 to 3 weeks, meaning total transit time of some mail could take as long as 3 to 4 weeks!!

That was a little bit of a shocker...:earseek:

I was new to digital cameras when I visited WDW solo in December 2002. Since I didn't have a laptop/notebook computer, I didn't see the sense in bringing my download cable with me to Florida. Big mistake. I filled up all my memories in just a couple of days and there were plenty of people around with laptops and CD burners that would have gladly downloaded my photos. So I called home and asked my wife to send the cable to me. She called the Beach Club Villas to get the precise address where she should send the cable. She went straight to our local post office and sent the cable to me USPS Priority mail. I expected to get the package in two or three days. It showed up 8 days after Sue sent it. To this day I have no idea why it took a Priority package that long to get from Ohio to Florida. Now I guess I know where the problem was.
