What is the most you have spent on a room at Disney?

$307 for one night at GF--garden view (w/a CM discount). But we were upgraded to a lagoon view w/a view of the castle, third floor. Absolutely gorgeous....we loved it. They were doing Wishes training that night, so we were able to sit outside on the balcony & listen to the entire show (minus fireworks), plus see the castle change colors all over again.

Touche' I thought we were nuts for spending $550/night for a 1 br at BWV during spring break a couple years ago, but some of you people have us killed!

Don't get me wrong, we've often dreamed of a Garden suite at BWI or the Presidental Suite at BC, but unless we hit the Lotto tonight, I guess the kids college comes first.

I'm trying to get over how much my 6-night stay will cost me at the Swan...

What is the most that you have ever spent on a stay (room only) at Disney?

$277 a night inc tax with an AP rate during value season of 2003 and 2004 for a concierge room at the AKL.

How do you all afford it???
It's in my SIG line..."PLAY...IS VERY SERIOUS WORK!!" As for the first sentence in your post...simply replace "marry" with "BE" and you'll do great!! :goodvibes :flower: :cloud9:

I'm personally THRILLED to see all the others whom indulge in concierge and suites while traveling!! ;)

360$/ night for Poly the most. My DH and I won't go to WDW unless we have the money to spend on the room we want, the food we want, and the souvie's we want. It depresses us to go on vacation and scrimp. We work very hard and for one week a year, we set money on fire! :rotfl2:

$135 at CR over the July 4th holiday in '01. L O V E D  it!

$129 Dolphin over Christmas '04...comp'd to 8th floor balconey room MGM resort view.... L O V E D  IT!

$99 Dolphin 12/20-24 '03 (no parks, just resort while heading down to visit family for the Holidays) L O V E D  it!

$121 WL Woodsview also Christmas '04 (splitstay) liked it, sort of.

$74 CBR standard view Aug '03 not the best room...but theming was nice

$55 ASMU splitstay w/CR July '01...L O V E D  it!

I don't think we could stay as long as we like...7 nights or more if we paid higher.....

recent trip... poly lvc around $700/night...

funny that dh and i were just discussing this topic... when i recently talked him into a summer wdw trip (HAVE to use those ap's!), he said he couldn't believe how much money i'm willing to spend on vacations, especially disney ones...

i had to point out that we don't really spend money on other recreations during the year... so many family/friends spend money every week on things i just wouldn't... beer, smoking, expensive food, excessive clothes, etc, etc... we're not spending like that during the year, so i can justify it (in my sick little disney mind;) Everyone has different priorities.

what it comes down to is if we didn't have it, i wouldn't spend it. we pay cash for our trips, we save more of our income than anyone i personally know, our kids have college funds and IRA's... of course i'm going to stay in a nice hotel in disney! i would be crazy not to. BUT if i couldn't afford it, i'd do moderate, value, camping, off-site, or not go at all, and that would be fine with me if that was the boat i was in (which was my boat basically my whole life until fairly recently).

OH, and we honestly enjoy the resorts as much as the parks... i think that makes a huge difference as to what someone is willing to pay. i actually put more thought into the planning for the resorts than the parks. for our upcoming trip, i know it will be HOT, so i'm planning on hardly doing the parks and enjoying the pools. so i'll gladly pay for whatever strikes our fancy. AND location, location, location... nothing as magical as watching the castle change colors all night, seeing the monorail glide by, watching the boats on the lake, seeing the other resorts all lit up... i gladly pay for that because to us, our room is soooo much more than just a clean bed and shower.

one more OH... i was pricing a summer trip to New England instead of disney - at least $450/night for a resort on the beach - a crappy pool, no slide, and nothing else to do... also jersey shore (long beach island specifically)... at least $6000 for a week for a house on the beach (not one of those awesome mcmansion houses either, no pool - the mcmansion houses were $9500 for one week)... i'd rather go to disney, stay in an awesome, awesome resort and have all the recreation, magic and safety disney offers at my fingertips.

Liz :)

AMEN!

$160 for AKL Savannah view. I think even if we had the type of money I couldn't justify spending that much on a room. Shoot I couldn't justify paying rack rate for a savannah room at AKL. It's the cheap accountant in me :lol

I'd rather take all that extra money and shop till I dropped down there.

This upcoming trip is by far the most we've spent at Disney or any other place, but we are used to Boston area prices (yes, we've paid $200 a night for a stinky motel down in Harwich - Cape Cod).

8 nights at AKL - one bedroom with AAA discount= $5709

We're using money from a small inheritance left to me by my dad, so this trip is "on Grampy". The kids think that is so cool, and I know my dad would be thrilled, since he knew how much I love going to WDW.

I put it on my Disney Visa, then paid off the bill, so now I have enough Visa dollars to pay for on of our sit-down dinners.

I can't wait! It actually SNOWED here yesterday!

I think I prefer to stay at the value resort (preferably PoP) for 15 nights with that price!!

15 nights at WDW or 1 night at WDW...?? I think I'll take the 15!!

Most ever - $445 +tax for an OKW 2 bedroom.

Best deals ever (both happened last year) - a) January - booked standard view room at GF with resident discount ($199 +tax) When we arrived, the CM said "hey, you got upgraded to a lagoon view." Not only was it a lagoon view, it was a room next to the Evergalades Suite, so it was extra long, had a vestibule, and two balconies (one on the lagoon and one on the marina) It was so close to the MK entrance. At night, I could hear the "howls" from the Haunted Mansion.

b) a few days before New Year's , I suddenly got an itch to see what it would be like to stay at WDW for NYE-NYD. Knowing that all discount codes were blacked out, and it was holiday rates - I called anyway (in hopes of getting a value resort and sucking up the more than double what I'm used to paying costs.) I was offered a WL room at around $340 (with tax), or a CBR room at around $210 (with tax.) Just before I said "heck, I'll take the CBR." the CM said "wait, what's this?" As she read to herself softly, I heard the word "upsell". She said "how about a room at the Yacht Club for $224 +tax?" I said "are you kidding, I'll take it." That's a 50% discount during a time that no discounts were being given.

When we checked in, I was again informed that I had been upgraded to a water view. I was very happy, but just expected, perhaps, an obscure view of a pool. When we got to our room, I was astonished that it was right on the boardwalk with a perfect view of Cresent Lake!

Aparently, I lived right last year.

We're going to spend $420 per night on a Garden Suite (wedding discount of about 30% off rack rate). I'll stay there the night before our wedding, and then he'll join me there for our wedding night and two nights after.

::yes::I think it's pretty "cool" too! Grampy will be smiling from above...what a nice way to share such a gift. :cloud9: You are also so very wise to place the charges on your Dis Visa...then pay them off with the cash! That's exactly what I do as well with some things, and it's so nice to have that extra bonus for dinners, etc. Truth be known, in my eyes....

"8 glorious nights @ AKL On Dear Grampy?.....PRICELESS!!

Have a MAGICAL adventure!! :wizard:

600+ for Conc. Main Building at Grand Floridian.

With regards to costs. I am another one of those people that works very hard all year long and would rather go for a shorter time staying where I want, eating what I want and doing what I want.

2 of us are going in June this year, 5 nights / 6 days ALL inclusive rate is $833. a night for garden view at GF (I am SOOOOO hoping for an upgrade, 3 of my trips to the GF have resulted in upgrades).

I was able to sign up last fall for the Platinum Dream Maker Plan (they don't offer it anymore). This covers EVERYTHING, room, tickets, ALL recreations, behind the scenes tours and 3 meals a day and a snack ANYWHERE we want to eat, plus concierge planning, fireworks cruises etc.

I would say $833 a night is cheap for all we're getting. I signed us up for behind the scenes tours that would have cost us almost $1200, plus dinner at Victoria & Alberts which will easily cost $250.00 and a fireworks cruise $150 that are ALL included in my plan.

BUT, as I said...since I work so hard during the year, I'd rather pay more for less time and stay where and do what I want.
