What is the most you have spent on a room at Disney?

I know! Remember when you could get the YC/BC for $169? Back then DH wasn't williing to spend the money....

Like I said, I live in the Miami/Ft.Laude area. DH is in construction (building all those high-rise condos on Ft Laud beach) and I am in school for teaching(HUGE demand down here).

I bought my condo ten years ago before the prices skyrocketed. Now, the one bedrooms are going for way over 100k. A 3/2 house in this neighborhood goes for about 350k.

Yes, I will be booking lots of weekend trips all over Florida-dragging my papers to grade along......

I can't wait to get to the POLY!!!!!

I'm asking only b/c I'm genuinely intrigued....Is there a reason for even carrying a mortgage if its only $200-300/month? Wouldnt you pay it off and save the cost of interest, or is the tax shelter a payoff? Wow, I hate to admit it but....those figures are half the cost of our monthly grocery bill, and our mortgage is 10-15 times those listed per month, and the jobs here...not so great....maybe its time to move :confused3 ;) seriously, in what part of this country do you live? :teeth: :listen:

And to stay on topic...$515 GR main conc....

sorry...$515 GF

And Im glad to hear of the demand for teachers in FL maybe I should tell my sis to move there so she can afford the cost of living :confused3 :sunny:

Okay, I don't know if anyone has this situation- our MORTGAGE is only $200!!!!!! ,so when we spend over that for a room per night...it is kind of funny......

That's awesome...good for you :) We live in the northeast, where the cost of living is extremely high....DH and I own a condo and your mortgage is about what we pay in condo fees every month...LOL.....decent houses that don't need too much work are about 300k here....anything priced under that more than likely will need tons of work.....we recently looked at a house that was about 1500 sq.ft of living space on a 5,000 sq. ft lot (postage stamp sized) and it was $320k.....it so interesting to see and note the differences in cost of living in different parts of the country.... :flower:

We are spending $600+/night at the Grand Californian for a one bedroom suite... :earseek:

I think I prefer to stay at the value resort (preferably PoP) for 15 nights with that price!!

15 nights at WDW or 1 night at WDW...?? I think I'll take the 15!!

::yes::

$24,000. Oh wait, that was for DVC ;).

The most I ever spent for a regular resort was $151 per night for 6 nights. ETA: I actually spent more. I spent $450 on a 1 BR at BWV on NYE 1999. It was a weekend and a cash reservation was cheaper than using my points.

You are getting away quite cheaply only spending $24,000 on DVC. I spend close $7,000 a year just on the hotel. I could have easily paid for DVC but I prefer the hotel feel to a vacation.

We bought on the resale market :). Have you looked at the DVC studios? They have a real "hotel" feel to them with a little extra "wet bar" area. The only thing you're missing is the daily maid service, but I don't find I miss that at all. I also like to stay at different resorts and you will often find me at a regular WDW resort for the weekend and then I'll move into a DVC resort for the week.

The most we've spent hasn't been spent yet but it will be about $120 a night WL standard when we go in 2 days.

Before that, $49 @ Pop.

We spent over $200 on a RPR room for the perks and it was worth every dime - plus it was split between 4 adults so it took the pain away quicker ;)

We spent $450 plus tax to stay at the GF RPC in December ( I think we got a lower rate because it was still early Dec). I can't even imagine a mortgage payment of $300! Wow, you sure are lucky. My property taxes alone are $600 per month here in sunny south florida. Houses here are 30 years old, 2000 square feet and are going for over $450,000. VERY depressing.

::yes::I think it's pretty "cool" too! Grampy will be smiling from above...what a nice way to share such a gift. :cloud9: You are also so very wise to place the charges on your Dis Visa...then pay them off with the cash! That's exactly what I do as well with some things, and it's so nice to have that extra bonus for dinners, etc. Truth be known, in my eyes....

"8 glorious nights @ AKL On Dear Grampy?.....PRICELESS!!

Have a MAGICAL adventure!! :wizard:

TTFN...DF99 :wave2:

Thanks dreamflight99! I can't wait!
