What works for me is to just stop, relax, and take several slow, deep breaths (fully inhaling through your nose and exhaling through your mouth, expanding your diaphram), repeating until the hiccups stop This always clears them up for me within a minute.
You just need to slow down and control your breathing. For me, there can't be any distractions, so I will sometimes go to a quiet place (like the bathroom) to concentrate.
The way I learned this was by my economics teacher in high school way back in the 80's, lol. When anyone in class would get them, he would stop everything and have them come to the front of the class. He would tell them that, if they could hiccup on the number 3 as he counted from 1-5, he would give them $5
He never had to pay, and we all learned how to stop our hiccups.
