My DS just had his Florida holiday plans for next week fall apart and I have to cancel his flight.

I've read that SW will sometimes credit back your credit card if you phone them.

Since DH and I have Rapid Rewards to use for our next trip, I'm hoping I can ask SW if they would have my DS's flight credited back to my credit card.

I believe you just need to call the reservation number, 1-800-I Fly SWA :confused3

Thanks for replying simzac! I thought I'd give that number a try too because it's a toll free number, if it works from Canada, but I'd seen reference to a "refund office" so wasn't sure if I had to call elsewhere with this regard.

I've heard they will credit back the difference if the price goes down, but I'm not sure if they will completely refund a non-refundable ticket.

We just had a price change for our ressie, but they didn't credit anything back. They just gave us a SWA credit to be used during the next year.

Julie - when I called the refund office, it was a long distance call to somewhere in Texas I think. I first called their 1-800 general number, but they said they are not the refund office and I asked if there was a 1-800 # and there was not. Sorry I don't have the number...I threw it out after I called them. Jo-Anne

Thanks Jo-Anne, I guess I'll have to call the toll free number to get the refund office number, as you did.

I figure there's no harm in phoning and asking if they will refund the flight. I already have some credits in my account, when I got a better DING rate last week for my January trip, so I plan to at least ask for that even if they can't do anything about my DS's flight. It would be nice to have all the money back but I don't think the credits will sit idle for long! ;)

If you look up contact info on swa website they will have the long distance #. That is the # I used and got refunds to my CC.

For the entire cost of a cancelled ticket or for a price difference?

What's the purpose of selling refundable tickets vs non-refundable if they will refund your money if you cancel?

We called the regular 1-800 number trying to get the difference between our original price ticket and the $500 cheaper DING fare refunded. They told us they don't do that, only give credits. My DH called the customer service number, and they credited our credit card with literally no questions asked. We were surprised how easy it was. (I was a little bummed, because I was really counting on another trip with those sky miles! :rolleyes1 ) I think this is the numner he called- Customer Service: 214-792-4223
Mon - Fri, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm CT

Good luck.

I have never had any luck getting the refund credited back to my card. I have called Customer Service and asked very nicely, but they always say they can't do it. Of course, I know from these boards that they can do it, but I've never been lucky enough to make it happen. I have received credits only. As a matter of fact, I lost over $400 in credits last year because we just didn't have any plans to travel before they expired.

Antmaril,
Please remember that you can sell those credits very easily and get almost all of your money back. I've sold credit on ebay for myself and friends and the ending price is really close to what the credit is worth. Maybe 50 bucks less. Also, in my neighborhood there is always someone planning a trip who will buy the credit for a small savings! Once the money is collected you just give them the record locator number and the name from the credit card they were purchased with and they apply those funds to their purchase. Heck I would have bought them from you!
