What is an adult?

I know people value the adult areas, but I have not seen sessions ever have more than a handful of people in there--or the Promenade lounge very busy at all. Late night-there is never much going on at all.

Diversions is large and could be better utilized--rarely busy in there either--maybe I've been on cruises hwne everyone goes to bed early.

I don't see too many teens in the Goofy pool--too full of little kids and very dirty most days.

Anyone know when the next drydocks are and any changes planned? I know the area with the crew pool is a plus for them, but the seem to always be working and no one there--couldn't they use the adult pool and make that a teen pool?

That ain't gonna happen! The CM's have to have their time away so they can b**ch and complain about there jobs just like regular people and not have any of the "magic" ruined for the guests. ;)

I feel this is a never ending topic. If they turned the crews pool into a "teen" pool as the earlier poster said, then you would have parents of "mature" 12 year olds complaing that their kids should be allowed to swim there. If it was left up to "us' to decide I guess every section would allow everyone. :)

The uncrowded nature of the adult pool and certain clubs is a BIG part of their appeal. Just as people with kids pay extra to sail Disney and have the clubs at their disposal, I pay extra to sail Disney and have access to an uncrowded pool and other peaceful areas.

Look out!! Here come the flames!! ;) I think there are a lot of people, even ones with children, that really enjoy the adult only areas. I think DCL would make a huge mistake doing this.

Several of the people on our cruise meet thread are going without their children. They are very much looking forward to the adult areas. I find it funny that there are always people who want everything to revolve around children when they have children. Those are usually the same people when their children are grown that complain the loudest about needing adult only areas.:rolleyes1

Exactly! :thumbsup2

:lmao: But, what about Furr Kids?

They count too!!! But I can't take mine on the cruise. And for the purposes of this thread to not get OT he is not old enough to eat at Palos or hang out at the adult pool.

Here's our Son Harley. He's a 4 month old Boxer.

Awww, Harley sure is cute! Don't you think that DCL should have a separate pool for our pets?

Although my cats would probably just prefer Palo privileges!:rotfl2:

Sounds purrfectly normal to me. We could say "They're here to meet Pluto and Goofy" :rotfl2:

Nothing against anyone...but we are going on a cruise in a few weeks and leaving the children at home for a reason. We want to be able to enjoy the adult areas and activites without having them around. We have cruised two times before with DCL and this is my dream to go without them, therefore this is my birthday present this year. I would be very upset at the CM's if they allowed anyone under the age of 18 into any of the adult areas. Several years ago after doing our first DCL we chose to go on another CL and although we had a great time we wished we would have sailed with DCL. So I am truly looking forward to cruisng with out our children. We both have wanted to go on DCL for a while without our children so we could enjoy the adult activities without having to worry about our kids.

Last year while at Palo's there was a little girl around the age of 5 walking around the outisde windows and looking in to try to find her mom. Just so happens her mom and dad were sitting beside of us. So for 30 minutes this little girl beat on the windows screaming for them. It was very upsetting that Disney would allow this and more upsetting that two parents would do this to their child. It was very distracting to have a child doing this. If I had wanted to hear a child doing this I could have walked out to the Mickey or Goofy pool. Thus, the whole reason for all adult areas.

Selena, this is so heartless! I can't believe anyone could do this to their child, esp. with the vast amounts of childcare DCL provides!

I believe an adult to be 18 or over. There were some teens at the adult only pool that looked around 16, but they could have been young looking 18's and they were acting like adults, so it didnt' bother me. Now, the pair of 5-8 year olds who *ran* through the adult area twice did annoy me. If I had kids, I wouldn't let them in the adult area until they were 18, but honestly, I don't think anyone would notice a quiet, adult-mannered 17 year old sunbathing or floating in the pool.

I am very happy DCL has adult only areas. It allows kids to have their own space. I remember being a kid and having to get out of the pool for adult swim. This way kids are always able to be in the pool. When elderly adults were in the pool, we always had to make sure we didn't splash or swim too fast around them. I think the three different pool areas are a great way to keep everyone happy! Adults have a place to swim and relax without impeding the little ones' fun and kids have a place to swim where they won't splash adults who are looking to cool off, too! I met plenty of parents in the adult only pool or hot tub who were thrilled to be taking a break while another parent/grand watched the kids or while kids were at the clubs. I doubt they'd want to drop the kids off for a break only to be surrounded by other people's kids at every turn. I think adult only areas are not only popular with singles and couples, but are a good reason for many parents to choose DCL, too.

And I *love* Palo! I wish WDW had an adult only restaurant like Palo. I completely agree with Barb (inkkognito). I know that (sadly) I would be less likely to cruise Disney if they did away with adult only areas.

What if you turn 18 on the cruise and it is a new Pacific itinerary.
You then cross the Samoa islands and the international data line and you are now 17???
