What have you seen on the EA? (running thread)

Lawgs, I guess we read asterisks differently. To me, the only places that will get the Executive Selection are the locations WITH the asterisks. Orlando has NO ASTERISK.

Seems to me the ones that are listed already have it and the one with the asterisks don't have it yet, but will soon. Why would it be on the list at all if it was not or would not be available?

Because there's no separate listing for just EA locations. And as far as I've seen, Executive Selection hasn't been implemented anywhere yet.

beachbunny

i think it is in the pre amble..

The Emerald Club Aisle/Executive Selection lets you bypass the counter and choose any vehicle in the dedicated Executive Selection or Emerald Aisle

then it lists all the sites for Emerald Aisle and Executive Selection with the sites which do not have Executive Selection yet being marked with *.

I've noticed a couple times in the garage at MCO a standup sign that said "Emerald Executive Service". Parked next to it both times were Buick LeSabre's. I think they are targeting business rentals, you have to rent many times to get to that level. I don't think it will affect the Emerald Aisle, which is targeted more to vacation travelers, at least in Orlando. I can't see an executive picking a PT Cruiser, which seems to be popular on the EA these days. There was a big fuss about a year ago when changed the rule about reserving full size and using EA, everyone was afraid there would just be intermediates (which National had said), turned out not to be true. Rental cars are very competitive in Orlando, they need to keep return business.

When I made my resies last week for our August trip, the website switched me to counter pick up - might have been a glitch as the website kept sputtering. I have been uable to duplicate the rate since - will I be able to just go to the EA or do I need to call and have that changed? Its my first time with the EA.

thanks!

FoodLover on the Budget Board (a.k.a. Mary from mousesavers.com!) is going to MCO, renting on EA in the not-too-distant-future, and will report back what she discovers on the EA! I personally read the EC site the same way beachbunny did, so remain hopeful of a better car than intermediate on the EA for our trip in June. I also have a ressie thru Hertz for a full-size, $30 cheaper than National intermediate EA, which I won't cancel until I know for sure what's on EA. If I can get a bigger car and save $$$, I'll hop the shuttle! It really depends on what happens with the EA.

most of national cars are 4 door

but they do have two door monte carlos

cannot recall ever seeing a two door grand am though

Ok can we get some actual posts saying what cars have been spotted? You guys are straying from the topic. Get with the program! LOL. I hope that there are some Rendevous when I get there! (5/11)

We arrived on Wednesday. I didn't play close attention to the EA since we had a full size on Emerald Reserve, but I did notice a Pontiac Aztec, Chevy Blazer, PT Cruisers. We took a Pontiac Grand Prix off the full size row, nice and roomy for 4 adults. We did have to put 1 piece of luggage in the middle of the back seat.

We wanted to add a second driver, my friend who made the reservation called and they said we would have to go to the counter. There was only 1 person working the National counter, there were about 5 people ahead of us. An Alamo person moved over to help, but we still waited about 20 minutes. Anyway, we walked up and the National person said we could just go straight over to the garage. We said can't you just process the paperwork for the second driver since we spent the time in line. She didn't want to do it but finally did. I was the second driver, I had to show my license and sign the paperwork.

Thanks DebbieB for posting that there hasn't been much of a change in the emerald aisle since my visit in February. I will post when we return, but it will probably be old news by May 8th.

I returned last night from Disney.

On the 22nd (Thursday) there were alot of PT Cruisers, Monte Carlos, Grand Prix and the regular intermediate cars. There was one Chevy Blazer so we took that. This was on the A side.

Yesterday dropping off I took a quick look over at the EA and there was barely anything. This was about 5 pm. One minivan, a couple PT cruisers and that's about it.

Make sure to check the receipt they give you. My reservation was a total of $125 and they handed me a receipt for $290!! I had to go to the booth to have it fixed. The employee checking my car said it happens all the time, though that was the first time for me that I remember.

Just returned tonight. When we arrived at 9:15 PM Saturday, April 17th, there was one red pick-up on the EA in Terminal A. Yes, one pick-up. That's it. Nothing else. There were about 20 cars in the Intermediate row, right next to it, and almost all were Intermediates. We did find a Buick Century and asked if it was OK to take that and it was. Also used the Priceless vacation code with no problems. I was charged exactly what I expected to pay.

When we returned at noon today, the EA appeared very full, with PT cruisers, and some small SUV type cars.

My husband just returned today from Orlando and saw the following cars on the EA: Aleros, one Aztec, Impalas, PT Cruisers, Regals, and Stratus. There were no mini vans, SUVs, or convertibles. He also used the Priceless Vacations code with no problems. His receipt reflected the amount on his reservation.

We arrived 4/22 at about 4:45 pm in Terminal A.

As we approached the EA, a staff member asked to see my EC card, took it to a desk and made a note. I found this somewhat annoying since I've always been able to head straight out to the car and get out of there. However, it only held me up by about 3-4 minutes.

She gave me back my card and informed me that I could take cars only from the RIGHT side of the Aisle.

I looked around and noticed the LEFT side was now marked Executive -- and that side had all the larger vehicles, such as SUVs and full size cars, plus all of the PT Cruisers.

The right side was all Intermediates. There was one small SUV (a Chevy Tracker) and the rest were sedans. I took a Pontiac Grand Am, which was about the biggest car available.

If this continues, I'm really not seeing the value of EA.

thanks foodlover for the update. I'm guessing they checked your card because there are probably a lot of members that did not receive their new cards. I'm sure they wanted to check to make sure you got the right level. I'm still kicking myself because I missed the next level by 2. I had 38 days and you need 40 to get into executive. Had I known I would've squeezed in 2 more days. phooey. I'll be there soon.

I'm still waiting on my card. I signed up 5 weeks ago and hoping it makes it here by our trip. What am I to do if they ask for my card. I was under the assumption you didn't need it.
