What have you seen on the EA? (running thread)

Do you still need to stand in line at the counter if you need a car seat?

We arrived on the A side about 4:30 pm on 3/24 and as castlegazer said, there were scads of PT cruisers. Saw a couple Aztecs I think (or something that looks like that), a Sebring, Grand Am and a couple of Buick Rendezvous which is what we opted to drive.

Arrived 3/24 8:00 AM B Side. Many PT cruisers, rendezvous, malibus. No minivans, which we were hoping for. My son chose a Red Saturn Vue as we have a rendezvous at home. Roomy enough for our luggage, but the car has terrible handling and ride and poor acceleration. I am glad we rented it so we would not make the mistake of buying one.

We arrived at around 5:00pm on April 1. There were lots of PT Cruisers and full size cars. There was also one Jeep Liberty which we wanted to take but someone walked off with the key. There was also a Saturn Vue and some Aztecs. No minivans.

Since we had never been in a PT Cruiser, we decided to take one. Very comfortable but little cargo space. OK for us since we had little luggage.

Picked up EA car on 4/7 about 9AM... tons of PT cruisers, 2 Rendevous', an Aztec, 2 extended cab pickups, a couple of Trackers and lots of cars (Monte Carlos and Stratus' were the ones I remember)...the only/last mini van was driving out of the aisle as we walked up... we took a Rendevous and I really liked it....drove like a car and had TONS of luggage space.

Hey, GeminiMom
We arrive about 1:45 6/6 and I was just about to add the same question.
I also wonder if we could get more input on which is a better area to get a SUV A or B terminal?

I'll have green on some of our stuff, with DD8 & DD11 and DW maybe we'll cross paths. Have a great trip.

It really does not matter, they are about equal. If you have your heart set on a SUV, you really need to book that.

Hiya Yo,
We'll be getting in just about 15 minutes after you, & will probably have some form of green on too (Even if it's not my color :p ) DH (dark hair & mustache) DS & DD (both 11, look nothing alike) & myself (J-Lo lookalike......HA! ....how'd that get there? ). We'll be the ones roaming around the EA "shopping" for just the right vehicle....honestly, the kids are almost as psyched about having a say in which car we drive than going to US/IOA.....strange kids....must take after hubby's side of the family  Hope to meet up with ya & say hi to a fellow DIS'er.....Have a wonderful trip!

We're arriving on June 6th also! Going to Universal first then to Disney. Wow! We could have a party in the EA row!:jumping1: Everyone wear GREEN ! Now no fighting over those SUVs! Actually I have no idea what we are wearing and exactly what time we will be flying in (we fly stand by:( )

I'll be there June 6 as well (around 11:30 am) NOBODY BETTER STEAL THAT MINIVAN IT'S MINE!!!!! ;)

See you all there.:wave2:

:D LOL.....The minivan's all yours punkin! My minivan days are over (knock on wood). Came in handy during the days of needing 2 car seats for the twins. Now I'm letting my hair down & hoping to luck into a convertible. Fat chance I know. Chances are better that I'll load up the Malibu, Century, or some other sensible family car & head off into the Florida sunset to try to live my dream another day :p

hate to be a bearer of bad news...

but it seems the EC Aisle service will only be "intermediate" cars with the new levels that Emerald Club has introduced

they have two tiers now

Emerald Club Aisle

and Emerald Club Executive Selection

the Emerald Club Executive Selection is much like the way the "old" club used to be, "rent a full size but pay intermediate price and take anything that is on the Executive Selection aisle which will be full size or better" ....according to the web site

not sure when all this kicks in, but the new "rules" for Emerald Club have been introduced on the web site as of April 17, 2004

thus the days of finding something more than an intermediate on the aisle may be over....of course, it may take some time to switch over ( both physically and mentally eg workers putting cars in the wrong "aisles" )

Are you shure lawgs? That would be pretty bad. Not that I can't make do with an intermediate but it sure is a shame.

sad to say ...yes

this is from the national website under Emerald Club benefits:

As an Emerald Club member, you will enjoy the following benefits:

Rent your way to higher levels!

National introduces new membership levels for our Emerald Club members. We have our original Emerald Club, and now we have Executive and Elite Executive. Click here to see how to reach these levels.

to reach executive level you ....

a member needs 12-24 rentals or 40-84 rental days per calendar year.

to reach executive elite

a member needs to rent 25 or more times or have 85 or more rental days per calendar year.

Rewards

Emerald Club allows you the choice to either earn free rental days, or to have frequent flyer mileage credited to your account. As a reward for your consistent loyalty to National, we offer you the opportunity to earn credits toward free rental days. If you prefer, you may choose to earn airline miles with one of our airline partners. Click here to see a complete listing of our travel partners.

* Rental credits are earned as follows:
One credit per qualifying rental or one credit for every four consecutive rental days. Example: One rental lasts 8 days = 2 credits. One rental lasts 2 days = 1 credit.

Emerald Club Aisle Service®

The Emerald Club AisleSM lets you bypass the counter and choose any vehicle on the Emerald Aisle by simply reserving an intermediate size car. Because National is committed to bringing you the newest fleet in the industry, you can rest assured knowing that our Aisle will have the most up-to-date intermediate vehicles from which you can choose. Emerald Club Aisle Service is available at most major U.S. airport locations.
Click here for a listing of Emerald Aisle locations.

Emerald Club Executive SelectionSM

This service is only available to our Executive level members. Just like the Emerald Club Aisle, the Executive Selection lets you bypass the counter, choose from any vehicle in the Executive Selection and pay only the intermediate rate. The difference is that the Executive Selection has only full-size and larger car class vehicles. To enjoy it, Executive level members simply reserve a full-size car. You will then pay an intermediate rate for whatever car class you choose in the Executive Selection area. Executive Selection is available at all of our Emerald Aisle locations. Click here for a listing of Executive Selection/Emerald Aisle locations.

Emerald Reserve ServiceSM

Bypass the counter when you reserve any car class. Reserve any car class, other than intermediate (or full-size, if you are an Executive level member), at more than 50 airport locations across the United States and Canada. When you arrive at the lot, bypass the counter and choose from the row of vehicles in the car class you reserved

so there it is in Black and Green....

lawgs

I wouldn't worry punkin. I just took at look at the National website and it doesn't look like things will be changing as far as Orlando is concerned. There's a list of airports that will be implementing the executive level and Orlando wasn't one of them.

Thank you Lawgs and Beachbunny for the info. I guess people will report back pretty soon about what is actually going on in Orlando.

Hey punkin- the minivan is yours! If I get there first, I'll put a "reserved for punkin" sign on it!LOL
And geminiMom, I might fight you for the convertible!:rotfl: Actually I'm hoping for a Liberty. My kids are wanting me to buy one so bad and we looked at them at the car show here in town. We were able to go all through the different models. That would be great to get one to drive around for 2 weeks! I just hope the Emerald Aisle deal doesn't turn sour:crazy2:

beachbunny

from what i see on the web site...when i click on Executive Selection/Emerald Aisle locations.....

punkin

maybe a call to the Emerald Club number customer service ( 1-800-962-7070 Emerald Club ) will "get" a better view of what is happening in Orlando with respect to the new "schemes"

Lawgs, I guess we read asterisks differently. To me, the only places that will get the Executive Selection are the locations WITH the asterisks. Orlando has NO ASTERISK.
