What have you seen on the EA? (running thread)

Bump...

Wow! This was clear back on page 4!

Hi~

Just back from our trip. Arrived at EA 3/2 "B" side. Quite a few Centurys, Aleros, Grand Prix and several Jeep Libertys. For the first time we got a PT Cruiser! (Great car if you have a bad back).

We picked up car Sunday. Plenty of PT cruisers, some sedans, Mitshbishi SUV and we got a Saturn Vue SUV. Loved it.

Arrived on 2/29 around 3:30pm and had rsvp for a SUV. National Counter was well staffed and there was NO LINE!!! DH didn't like any of the SUV's they had (he was hoping for a PT Cruiser, which we didn't know was considered a Full-size) so he went to the booth in the garage and told them he didn't like the selection. The rep told him to pick any car and bring back the tag. We went to the EA (it was the closest) and picked a Electric Blue PT with 700 miles on it. Took the tag back they adjusted the price ($60.00 less and let us use our $15.00 off a SUV coupon!!!) Nice car for a week, just wouldn't own one. Not alot of cargo room, only fit 1 med and 1 small suitcase the large one we had to fold down the seat for.

Other vehicles we saw....
Impalas, Blazers, Grand Cherokees, Monte Carlos, Azteks, Extended Cab Full Size Pick-ups, Izuzu and Suzuki SUV's, Rendevous, LOTS of PT Cruisers, and I'm sure there were more the lot was FULL.

Arrived 4:00 pm on March 8 and got a bright blue PT Cruiser with 1700 miles on it. There were at least 8 other PT Cruisers on the Aisle, most of which were also bright blue! Lots of other intermediate and full-size sedans, too.

As previous poster stated, very little cargo room in the PT Cruiser, so I wouldn't recommend it for a family of 4. Might work for family of 3.

Bumping:bounce:

Just reserved an intermediate through EA for 6/6 - 6/13, coming in on A side @ 2:00 pm. This is a Sunday.....anyone care to venture if that might be a good time for selection to be good? I know there's no real science to availability, just an educated guess.

We only need an intermediate so anything we get will be like getting that one special gift on Christmas morning.:hyper: This will be the first time I've ever rented a car, and by all the posts I've read about National & EA, I'm hoping for smooooth sailing!

BTW, I love this thread!

I saw some convertibles on one trip but that was awhile ago. Lately it has been full sizes, PT Cruisers & SUV's.

Is a "standard" the same as an intermediate? The reason I am asking is that when I made my reservation, I used a 2 car class upgrade from compact, to intermediate, up to standard. Well, since reading this thread, I signed up for the Emerald Club for free thru the on line travel agency. Well, am I eligible for the EA since my car class is standard?

A standard is a 2 door full size. I had one twice last year - Chevy Monte Carlo's. You couldn't use EA, EA requires an intermediate reservation. With your Emerald Club, you could use Emerald Reserve but could only pick off the full size aisle. That would allow you to skip the counter.

Ok here goes guys, I have been dying to report back on what I saw:

we got in last week on a Wednesday night around 8pm. There were three thousand PT Cruisers, no just joking maybe just 100 (they just have way too many of these impractical things), a couple Monte Carlos which are only two doors, an Alero, one Grand Am, one Jeep Liberty, and one Saturn Vue which became our car for the week. We loved this car, oh by the way. I loved the way it drove, I loved the roominess, and I love the feel of the seats. It was much nicer than we thought it was when we looked at buying one a year ago and opted not to.

I just signed up for the free Emerald Club via mousesavers. I've always rented with National in Orlando but never did EA.

I've got a ressie that confirms to go to EA and select my vehicle. So I'm reading and learning about the EA.

On this trip is DH, myself, DD (4 and a half) and my FIL. An intermediate would work for us but I'm hoping for full size when we get there!

A question though, if we select something larger than intermediate are we charged the difference?

You can pick anything off the EA and you will only be charged for intermediate.
