We first went to MK in spring of '82 -- Epcot wasn't completed yet. Obviously things were WAY different, but I have a whole list..... Horizons, World of Motion, the original Journey into Imagination, the open area in front of Spaceship Earth (I know they thought things would sell much more completely than they did and made too many "monuments); the original fast pass, River Country, more space at Downtown Disney -- fortunately we nearly always used the bus system unless we drove for the day (had annual passes when we lived down there), and I could name more.
The simple straightforward way of touring Disney that's no longer possible. I'm glad we got to do so many years and do our favorite things, but that doesn't mean we don't miss the old stuff. I agree that they could have replaced some things with updated rides/attractions. I never did like the Aladdin Carpets, thought it was way out of place and NOT NEEDED. And on and on.
Also, I know people complain mightily about the traffic congestion when the Tapestry parades were going on in World Showcase, but I LOVED those parades. We went as often as possible. ADRs weren't always such a big deal. It's a shame that meal reservations become a reason to race through World Showcase. One reason we don't make ADRs and never did.
I'm an old timer and prefer a lot of things the way they were. I doubt I could pick just one that makes me sad. Loved Disney for many years, decades even.
