What Frugal Action Did You Take Today!?

we're having a huge easter dinner at my parents house Sunday. My cousin is bringing his little girl over who is getting candy and easter baskets from everyone (great grandpa, grandma, parents and my mother) so instead of buying her junk food I made a small pianta and put healthy treats in it like small packs of rasins and granola bars so now she gets treats and an activity to do for pretty cheap.

The best part was I started making a pinata before i even thought about having it for easter because I couldn't be on my feet for a couple of days and decided to do something creative. two birds, one stone :)

made one for my boss too. yay

The hard part was living without pans and utensils to use to cook.

When I shipped my car I was able to load up my trunk. So, I went and bought space bags (love them!!!) and loaded everything possible in the trunk. I put bedding, towels, clothing, shoes, 2 pans, 1 pot, silverware, pillows, 4 folding chairs, some food, hangers, laundry basket, paper towels, dish detergent, lotion, soap, shampoo, etc.

All that...in my Toyota Camry Hybrid!:thumbsup2:lmao:

Got the free haircut I earned by pre-paying for 4 cuts.

Then went to Starbucks where they filled by refillable mug for free in honor of Earth Day.

Needed a decongestant and cough drops. Used my 75 cent coupon which made name brand cough drops cheaper than the generics. Got $1 in CVS bucks because it was the fourth time I used my reusable bag.

Had leftovers last night as well as our new fav "Boboli Pizza Salad" I make my own Boboli style pizza crusts and topped it with salad that I adapted from the Pizzetta Salad no longer offered at Disney's Calif. Adventure. Used leftover ranch dressing we brought home for previous meal out as well as homemade Creamy Italian Dressing. Also topped with Hormel Pepporoni Minis (cooked til nice and crispy) I got these free a few weeks back by buying a full size pepperoni (for homemade pizza).

Just partially made my first batch of Cake Pops to bring for Easter. Doing these instead of Cupcakes. So much cheaper than buying a dessert and fun too! We'll finish them up when DD11 gets home from school.

How do you make your own Boboli style crust? Would you please share the recipe?

I made my DH give the dog a haircut. We are in a very small town and the only close place is $35!!! Sure, it doesn't look perfect, but it will do!

Also, I reevaluated the "extra freezer" situation. I havent been couponing as much, so the freezer was getting empty. I managed to reorganize and fit everything into my regular freezer except for 2 items I'll make for dinner this weekend. So, I'm saving the energy to run the extra freezer, and made my regular freezer more efficient. Just in time for Earth day! :hippie:

I cooked breakfast for my DD and her 2 friends that slept over last night. Usually I would take them out which for 5 of us would cast about $40, instead I fixed bacon, eggs, and bisquits for about $7. So I saved $33.

Had a frozen, grocery store pizza instead of one from the pizza place.

We still have ugly colds so can't taste much difference, but our wallets benefit.

Today we went out for Easter dinner at Logan's, I had BOGO coupon so 1 meal was free. I had an extra one and saw a friend there so gave her my extra coupon so she could save too. We also ate a very late luch so no only pb&j or cereal for dinner. Oh, and when we left I asked for to go cups for drinks. My family loves drinks and we rarely order them at a resturant so we had some for a drive through the counry after our lunch/dinner.

Yesterday I took ds and ran some errands. We got lunch for the two of us at moes for $6.50 (ds is 1 and shares my lunch). Then we went to kohls and I got a cute shirt that was marked down to $15 and used a $10 coupon, so original price $30 and i paid $5! And my wardrobe as a sahm is in need of shirts bad, so it was a good find! We hit petsmart after that in the same plaza, saving gas from going out later to get dog food (I know its a stretch, but being able to run both errands in one place made it worth it to go to kohls).

Lastly we hit the grocery store and used our weekend only $10 off a $50 purchase offer! I got a bunch of stuff so i can eat in for several days instead of getting takeout!

We did a bit of that, too. But my husband was planning on leaving on Sunday morning. Sat afternoon we got a call that there was a huge snow storm moving in near where he had to drive in the mountains. We threw things in the car as fast as we could so he could avoid the snow and forgot things like pots and pans! Sadly, hours later he came down with the same stomach bug that the rest of us had. He spent most of his 5 days driving pulling over to get sick. Poor guy.

I've been wearing skate shoes at the job where I'm working and it kills my feet. Went to Meijer and saw Dr Scholl shoes on sale 20% off. Kept looking and I found a pair of $70 shoes for $20. It was such a great I bought my mom a pair too for mothers day. As I checked out I used a five dollar coupon. spent $37.04 and saved $105.02 on two pairs of shoes

I noticed the hummingbirds were flying around the other day. I knew it was time for me to put up the feeders. I didn't have any of the hummingbird nectar around. So, I had to make my own. I found a recipe online...4 cups of water to 1 cup of sugar. Total cost, about .50. My DMom just bought some of the nectar last week. It was $6 for the powdered stuff which makes a quart of nectar or $8 for a quart of the liquid stuff.:scared1: I ended up saving $5.50-7.50 by making my own. And the birds love it. They've been out there all day drinking it up.

my son was at the orthodontist getting his palate expander removed and when they were making the retainer mold I asked if they'd make a backup (my son is autistic and I didn't know if he'd lose it, etc....). I knew it would cost about $125 but figured it was worth it. The orthodontist ended up making the backup one for FREE!

Went to the matinee of Disney's "African Cats" today. Filled our punch card so one admission was free.

Tomorrow we are having dinner using a gift card.

I bought a perfect card at Dollar Tree.

Happy Frugal Anniversary to us.

Went to the grocery store in town. I get their e-mails so I had access to a few really good coupons. I ended up between coupons and store savings over $50!!!! :cool1: I also saved gas since this store round trip is about 5 miles as opposed to driving down the hill for a round trip of 32 miles. So gas saved!!!

Brought a box of books and a box of clothing to donate to a local charity shop. And, remembered to get and file a receipt!

local foodstore had triple coupons up to $1 max of ten coupons. i hit them up with my stockpile of coupons. i got a box of tea, paper towels, and toothpaste for free. i got 6 more items for 25-99 cents each and then the big one was the toilet paper, 20 rolls for only 9.99 after the $3 off the sale price and $1 coupon that turned into $3 off.

the place was crazy with couponers with piles of coupons and lists running up and down aisles as the sale started today. i did see a nice guy give some ladies coupons who couldn't use to due to the quantity limit.:goodvibes

i also found an apt with my new roomate. the hunt was worth it because we are paying $400 less than we planned on spending.

NOT registering for school this Summer. Of course, this may be cheating as I'll graduate in June, but still, I'm saving $7,500 by completing my graduate degree! WOOT!!! (Now on to paying off my loans......)

I went to half-price books tonight and sold a bunch of tv on dvd sets that I no longer watch or will never buy the complete series of and got $105. I am putting that into my summer fun fund to use towards fun activities this summer.
