What Frugal Action Did You Take Today!?

DS got stage 1 of his braces - I agreed to pay in full and got a discount of $150 - then I paid off the remaining balance with my disney visa = $30 disney visa reward points. As soon as it posts to my visa I'm paying it off with our tax refund.

I saved $375 by driving the speed limit in a work zone. After a minute or 2 I saw the cop clocking everyone. Saved the guy behind me the money too, but I don't think he appreciated it.

I went to the pepperidge farm outlet to get bread instead of the grocery store. Plus I got a job application for there as well.

Eat leftovers from my fridge. I leave the "good stuff" for DH and DD... :)
Now that all the leftover is gone, I get to make new stuff.
I know this isn't much but I've been trying to be good with budgeting again. Tax season is just too depressing... looked at our budget and holy jeepers we have to be really careful for the next year or so.

:lmao:

It always cracks me up when someone impatient driving behind me (I drive speed limit also). I always think, "if you're in a hurry why don't you leave earlier?".

Stopped at the thrift store today and found: 2 (cute) baskets, 4 pairs of kids shorts, 2 cute old navy tank tops for DD and 1 Childrens Place dress for DD all for $2.50. Now, I thought these were major good deals. We will also eat left overs for dinner:thumbsup2.
We also took a walk around our yard and I just realized our snow is gone and I can start to use our clothes line again:laundy:. I love spring:woohoo:.

I really wanted to go out to Chili's tonight, but we stayed home and had tacos instead. Saving $50.00 :thumbsup2

My friend and I had coffee and cinnamon bread at my house instead of going out for coffee. Also DH and I have date night at our house after we put the kids to bed instead of going out. :lovestruc

Previously I posted about making my own Pizza and was asked for the Recipe. Here it is.
1 cup of warm water
1 TBS of yeast
1 tsp of sugar
1/2 tsp of salt
1/4 cup of olive oil
2 1/2 cups of flour

I start by putting the water in my Kitchen Aid bowl, add yeast mix with dough hook until disolved.

add the sugar and salt.

add half of the oil

add about half of the flour then gradually add the remaining flour and oil.
If the dough sticks to your finger when you touch it add more flour about a tablespoon at a time. If it is too dry you can add a little more oil.

kneed the dough with mixer for about one minute. let rise at least one hour. It can sit all day if you need it to .

you can freeze it for up to a month.

This makes to 12 inch size pizzas.

Press dough in pans.

To make the sauce I use one can of hunts tomato sause and I add oregano, basil grated parm cheese to taste. about 1 tsp of minced garlic and about one table spoon of ketchp to the sauce for a little tangy taste.

I use about 8 ounces of Mozzerella cheese and 4 ounces of cheddar for the two pizzas.

you can add whatever toppings you like.

Bake 425 in convection oven or 450 regular oven
about 12 mins if no toppings and up to 20 mins with lots of toppings

You can also make this by hand without Mixer. I did that for years before I got my mixer.

Happy Pizza night!

Yesterday my son and I went bowling on a free coupon. We only had to pay for the shoe rental. We had a blast, too.

Today we're going to see Rio and I have 2 free anytime tickets so we'll go for free :)

So far this has been a very frugal spring break and it's almost over. I think the most we spent were the regular weekly groceries.

I'm learning to love coffee from home. I'm tired of spending $2 a pop at Dunkin' Donuts, so I've vowed to stop hitting that drive through 4 times a week. In the three weeks I've been home from Disney, I've been to Dunkins once.

(I confess, on the Magical Express on the way back to the airport, I was trying to figure out how to get my family back to The Magic Kingdom sooner, and this was one of the easiest swaps to do! I'm doing lots of saving, and being sure to pay myself and sock the money away.)

I recognize that motivation.

I was a volunteer usher at a college dance show. Got an entertainment fix for free.

We moved across the country 3 weeks ago, but my "stuff" is still in NJ for a few more weeks. So, how did I save money? We are "camping" in our new apartment. We bought air beds for everyone for less than $100. My only furniture is a $25 card table from Target. My chairs are folding chairs that fit in my car trunk when I had it shipped. We did buy a TV to replace a HUGE tube tv that we decided not to move. But, the TV stand is a box. My son's "nightstand" is a box.

While I wouldn't want to live like this forever, AND I don't think I'll be entertaining in our apartment like this;)....it is kind of nice. No furniture to dust, no real cleaning to do at all.:thumbsup2

So, the total cost of waiting for our furniture and other things...Less than $150. Better than renting a furnished apartment or staying in a hotel for a month!

Creatively frugal! I love it!

Old clothes washer broke with no hope of fixing. Did some research and found a top rated GE front loader for $375 marked down from $699 because it was floor model. We'll go and pick it up tomorrow!

Oh, and I found a $10 coupon for DH's oil change place, turns out he needs to get a change this weekend so the timing is perfect.

Have been keeping an eye on the AirTran flights we booked for our vacation to Detroit at the end of July to visit fam. Noticed it went down yesterday, called to request a credit, and got $46 as a voucher to use for our baggage costs! I was especially pleased because I read somewhere that AirTran typically only gives you vouches if the price drops $75 or more, but figured it couldn't hurt to ask. Hooray!

Had leftovers last night as well as our new fav "Boboli Pizza Salad" I make my own Boboli style pizza crusts and topped it with salad that I adapted from the Pizzetta Salad no longer offered at Disney's Calif. Adventure. Used leftover ranch dressing we brought home for previous meal out as well as homemade Creamy Italian Dressing. Also topped with Hormel Pepporoni Minis (cooked til nice and crispy) I got these free a few weeks back by buying a full size pepperoni (for homemade pizza).

Just partially made my first batch of Cake Pops to bring for Easter. Doing these instead of Cupcakes. So much cheaper than buying a dessert and fun too! We'll finish them up when DD11 gets home from school.

I have to get some gifts to take to our family overseas when we visit this summer. They want popular American toys, but didn't specify which ones. What is more American than Mr. Potato Head, right? I took the Toys R Us ad into Target this morning (can't stand shopping at TRU) and had them price-match the Mr. and Mrs. Potato Head that are on sale this weekend. Combined that with 2 coupons I printed out from the Hasbro site, and got them for $2.19 each! Then I went and picked up the Monopoly game for one of the older kids that was on sale at Target for $8, combined it with a coupon I printed and got it for $5, + I get a free Tombstone pizza with a rebate that someone posted. So I am kind of counting that as a free dinner, once the rebate arrives. :cool1:

I'm having some frugal fun right now. We have wifi, so I'm in the backyard burning junk mail and cereal boxes, etc. in our fire pit. We built a small fire to cook hot dogs for lunch, to celebrate spring, and now I'm burning the junk! (saves me from shredding the CC offers, too!)

Good idea! We did this when we moved from the west to the east. We had an air mattress already, our son slept in his pack n play (he was only a year old) and our CRV has a picnic table built in that we used for a kitchen table. We would do take out Chinese and save the containers to reuse as plates. The hard part was living without pans and utensils to use to cook.
