We've been entering contests, especially local stores and/or quick ones on FB. So far, we've won an iPad, AG doll (raffle), bag of Wegmans food, $25 gift certificate, silver necklace, LPS, and book. I know it doesn't seem frugal, but entering takes hardly any time at all, and we've had good luck. I think a lot of people are so busy they don't enter. Oh, and my sister won $25 gift certificate to Wegmans last month...
Plus, I love to go to those "first day of spring events" and other local giveaways. I know one local ice cream shop has free water ice this week, Ritas will have it the first day of spring, and Brusters usually does something, too. For my family, that really adds up!
Mmmmmm, Ritas! Free water ice day is Sunday, March 20. I wish there were one nearby. I'd be standing in line.Plus, I love to go to those "first day of spring events" and other local giveaways. I have a question.....what is a free water ice day? I thought, at first, it was a typo and was supposed to be "free ice water day" but then a second poster typed it "free water ice day" and so now I'm confused and curious!
Water ice is what they call Italian Ice in the Philly region. And Rita's is a water ice franchise. Every year, on the first day of spring, they give away a free, regular size water ice(Italian ice). Rita's has 5 or 6 franchises in TN. You check em out if there is one near you.I have a question.....what is a free water ice day? Somehow the title of this thread must have burned itself into my brainso when I was down in the laundry room today looking at my old bathrobe (whose collar is worn, faded, and frayed) trying to decide whether to keep it or donate it...I remade it instead! Cut off the collar, flipped it over, sewed it back on upside down; understitched it, added some decorative contrast stitching to hold it all together (reinforced the hem stitching, which was coming down anyway). It's 100% polyester fleece and probably 20 years old but it will probably last another 20 years now...or until I can't stand it anymore! I do have a nicer robe that I can use if I'm going to be seen by others, but for comfort and warmth it will still do just fine. Call me crazy...I think I'm becoming my mother (a depression era baby who turned EVERYTHING into quilts when they were no longer useful...)!!
Oh well, it only cost an hour or so of my time and it saved the expense of buying a new one!
This made me laugh.I do have a nicer robe that I can use if I'm going to be seen by others,
