What Frugal Action Did You Take Today!?

We just bought a leather IKEA sofa with two matching storage ottomans in perfect condition at the Salvation Army Thift Store for $187. It sales at IKEA for $1100.

was going to make carrot muffins for the week, found a recipe for chocolate muffins that called for 1/2 cup of ricotta, i had ricotta in the fridge so i made those instead. was happy to find a use for the ricotta, now i know when i make lasagne i need to make muffins. :goodvibes

i also made popcorn on the stove for the first time tonight. it cost $1.99 for a bag of organic at trader joes. after making it i estimate i will get what equals at least 6-8 bags of the microwave stuff, minus the chemicals.

Saved about $12 on my groceries yesterday with my coupons. (Hey, it's something! lol. I'm not a big time coupon user but I use the ones I need).
Also sold some items in a kids consignment sale this weekend, waiting to find out how much I made!!! :) All of that will go into my disney fund!

Last night I made chicken and noodles for dinner. Normally a large pot will make enough for a few meals for us but my grandma and uncle stopped by so we ate more of it than normal. Today for lunch I added some more chicken stock to stretch it out for a few more days. It tastes just as good.

Well I applied for a job today. Step one.

Today, I brought my lunch and I skipped the soda machine in favor of iced tea.

This weekend we made corn tostadas at home instead of going to El Jimador and made pizza on Sunday with whole wheat crust instead of ordering Pizza Hut!

September is coming soon and I still have airfare and park tickets to buy!

Replaced my travel mug so I can brew my coffee at home and avoid the drive thru. And got a great price shopping @ TJ MAXX.

Cooked dinner from scratch with planned leftovers for tomorrow's lunches

Did the grocery shopping today to earn double rewards points on my purchases

No swimming for DD today, so I saved gas on the trip to the pool, not to mention the money saved by not buying the soda and snack I'd normally buy!

Didn't go anywhere today. Stayed home and did fun stuff with my kids. Did a couple of workout videos from netflix.

Inspired by all of you, I cancelled my AOL saving me 14.99 a month and changed auto insurance companies saving 146.00/month for the same coverage. With my youngest starting college in the fall and my husband unemployed, these are welcome savings indeed. Thank you all for helping me do this, I am very grateful!

I got myself a new cuisinart with most of the attatchments, so I made spaghetti and lasagna yesterday, (They were great) and today I made macaroni. I let it dry, so I havn't tasted it yet. The fresh pasta has a wonderful flavour that can't be beat.

yesterday we had a Birthday party at our house for my MIL's 70th. We had 20 people. Instead of ordering pizza I made it at home. I made the dough the day before in the kitchen aid. I also made the sause the day before, I got the cheese and flour and yeast in bulk at BJ's wholesale club. We had toppings in our freezer. We have a garden so we had lots of peppers. I also used tomatoes I canned. It really is easy to make your own pizza. I don't know what the actual cost would be but it had to be a lot less then buying Them. I also have an Oven with four racks and a small over on the counter that can take two full size pizzas. This allows me to cook six at a time.

On another note. I have been making pizza every Friday night for about 16 years. We have one son who is grown and moved out. He and his girlfriend come every Friday for pizza night. We play board games or watch movies. It's a nice way to stay connected.

If anyone wants to know how to make the pizza let me know and I will post it for you. I have tought my sister and her daughter even my son can make it. It is not hard but it is cheap.

I make homemade pizza all the time too. I would love your sauce recipe. I'm always looking for a good sauce. I haven't found one that we are satisfied with yet. I did find a tomato soup recipe that DH liked and suggested we try as a pizza sauce. I'll have to tinker with it a little first. Thanks!

ETA: I'm going to try making homemade hamburger buns. Does anyone have a good and easy recipe? TIA!

Making baked beans in the crockpot for dinner today. Yummy, healthy, inexpensive meal.

We usually go out to brunch on Sunday. Today we stayed at home and I made pancakes. I have to admit that I missed my brunch but we probably saved $40 or so!
