Resort Thread Disney's PORT ORLEANS RIVERSIDE Resort

My question: What room category do we choose in order to guarantee that we're going to get a room in a building with an elevator? Is there any way to guarantee this? Or is it just luck? Thanks!

By 2026 the room categories will have been adjusted down to five options.

As has been said, Royal Room would guarantee mansion building 95, but otherwise I'd suggest booking Standard Location which should normally be in the mansions (unless they have a capacity issue and upgrade you to a 5th Sleeper). Do not book 5th Sleeper as they have no elevators. Preferred Location will be a mix of both areas in 2026.

However if you are only concerned about arrival/departure luggage, don't let it worry you as Bell Services will take care of that for you. The Alligator Bayou lodges only have two floors, so day-to-day it's not an issue unless you have special mobility requirements or a stroller.

I love POR and AB but don’t really care for the Mansions. In the past I have booked 5th sleepers to insure I was placed in AB, but now I can’t do that because we are not a party of 5. I believe booking preferred location gets one placed in AB automatically, correct? Are all the non-preferred AB rooms 5th sleepers or can a couple still stay in AB without a preferred location?

Yes you can, the 5th Sleeper option has always been able to be booked by anyone - even a single occupant.

That’s strange. I thought they changed that policy earlier this year to make the 5th sleepers available for those that “need” them. I wonder what I am thinking of?

Currently any booking for five people (aged 3+) in Standard, Woods, Pool, or River will automatically result in an AB room. Same goes for three people in a King Bed booking. Preferred rooms are currently all in AB anyway. Royal options can only accept up to four people.

From next year, you won't be able to book Standard or Royal if you have five people, and booking five people in Preferred Location will ensure an AB room. Anyone can book a Standard 5th Sleeper, even with less than five people, if they want. King Bed is same as before, three people will mean an AB room.
