What exactly is "Pooh sized"

I am pooh-sized, a big ol tub of lard, fat, over-weight, heavy, a cow or whatever other names other people use to describe "people like me". MushyMushy and Kathi OD you are my hero's. Your wit is priceless! I for one LOVE it!

This thread is making me feel fat. My size and height aren't even mentioned, but the thought still crosses my mind that I should be further away from being what some consider pooh sized. It's silly too because I don't agree with a lot of the definitions on this thread about what is pooh sized.

I don't consider size 16 "Pooh-sized," but that's just my opinion. Any post in this thread that says a 16 is Pooh-sized is also just someone's opinion.

As a PP said, we (especially women) have enough problems with body image. I knew this thread wasn't going to help.

I think Pooh size is a term that is subjective like pretty, for example.

You said you were okay with being called Pooh-sized. My point was that others (myself included) wouldn't appreciate it. One recent poster was sad to see her size classified as Pooh-sized here, so I guess I wasn't too far off.

And it's interesting that you didn't quote my entire response to your post:

I was--as you were--merely stating an opinion. You made it sound as if I was beating up on you. Hardly. Quite frankly, your post reminds me of the way my kids sometimes overreact when I disagree with them. "Tar and feather?" Give me a break.

That's what I got from it too -- especially that the same size can look vastly different on people of two different heights.

Did I say she was calling a size-14 Pooh-sized? I don't think I did.

Again...I was saying that someone fitting Kathi OD's very detailed description (5'2", size 14), might be hurt to discover they are considered Pooh-sized. Just because Kathi OD fits her own description of Pooh-sized and is okay with that doesn't mean someone else fitting that same description wouldn't be hurt to read her definition of Pooh-sized.

Did anyone see flying_babyb's post? She was upset that some poster(s) on this thread said someone wearing her clothing size would be considered Pooh-sized. That was what my point. Defining Pooh-sized in specific terms is bound to offend someone who fits that description.

Maybe I'm writing in hieroglyphics and don't realize it, but I thought my point was pretty clear (especially after I've explained it several times). At any rate, I stand by what I said.

I have no problem with anyone standing by what they said. Everybody should be able to express their opinions. I think what caught some of us off guard was the tone of your posts. (Especially towards one poster.) The way we say things effects the way others will respond. Remember, you can catch more flies with honey than you can with vinegar.

She certainly wasn't the only one defining Pooh-sized on this thread. She just happened to be the one I noticed after I first posted. In retrospect, I probably shouldn't have singled her out. And I really did not intend to be snarky in my initial post to her, but I can see how it could have come across that way. However, I still don't think my posts (especially the one she partially quoted) warranted her "tar and feather" response.

But that's my opinion, and it's OK if no one agrees with me. I think Rick Springfield's a musical genius (and really hot for someone almost my parents' age), so I'm quite used to having the unpopular opinion.

I have to say I'm surprised people are giving their opinions of Pooh-sized with actual numeric sizes. Seeing your size being defined as "Pooh-sized" could be insulting if you don't define yourself that way. Ouch.

For that reason, I wouldn't describe someone as Pooh-sized, or try to put a numeric size to it, but if you want to call yourself Pooh-sized, more power to you. To thine own self be Pooh. (Sorry, couldn't resist.)

I agree you can't put a size on it, there are many other fcators.
The last pair of pants I bought in the US was a size 18. Which is probably considered a plus size. But I'm 6' tall! I would be pretty scary thin if I'd fit in a size 8.

I think Pooh-size is used by people who are afraid they won't fit in a ride, don't fit through the turn stiles, ...
And I can tell you, someone who wears a size 18 has still plenty of room on the rides (except if your legs are long, ugh) and can fit perfectly well through the turn stiles!

I always imagined Pooh-sized as someone solidly in the plus-size section of the clothing store with excessive belly fat. Not just ovierweight, but also a shape more or less like like Pooh (more of an "apple" woman, with a less-defined waist). Someone who may have concerns about a lap bar fitting over their belly.
I think it is hard to put an actual number size on the concept. I have seen people who wear the same size clothing as me look completely different. I have broad shoulders and heavy bone structure, large breasts and thicker/muscular thighs. I wear a size 12 in pants, generally. I have seen many other women wearing a size 12 who look less fit/more fat than me b/c of the way they carry their weight and their lack of muscle tone. Also, as another poster said, a taller woman may wear a large sounding size, but she may very well not be overweight according to the BMI charts. So, it is very hard to say a certain number is Pooh-size.

Finally, sort of off topic, I have heard big, large men refer to themselves as "Baloo" sized.

Really finally, is there a term for an overweight woman who does not have just a large belly a la Pooh? Someone shaped like, say, Kathy Najimmy or Camren Manheim? Sure, they are large ladies, but they still have huge knockers in relation to their stomaches.
