What exactly is "Pooh sized"

Yup, another one that thinks the same way..

I just wonder why folks hide behind terms like this is all. Honest question.

And not saying due to weight. It is more about all the politically correct terms that have to be used.. Not short, but vertically challenged type stuff. I know, I do not understand it.

eu·phe·mism –noun 1. the substitution of a mild, indirect, or vague expression for one thought to be offensive, harsh, or blunt.

Our language is filled with euphemisms. Pay attention, you'll see. Nothing wrong with being kind to oneself in little ways like this. I can't believe you'd even care.

I don't think anyone is hiding behind anything, but that's just me.

I think some people just aren't happy unless they're pointing out everyone else's faults (which by the way is what most people, Pooh-sized, fat, or otherwise, generally refer to as RUDE!).

So if you are fat, it is rude to be called that? Sorry, that does not float for me.. you are what you are.. calling yourself "pooh sized" does not pretend, hide, change or do one darn thing. Fat is fat..

Now before you bring more pitchforks, I could care less if you are fat, skinny, short or bald. Just call it what it is. That is the point.

What about ugly? Wrinkly? Deformed? If a person feels more comfortable calling themselves plain, aged, different, pooh-sized, who is anyone else to tell them they shouldn't. Besides "fat" is subjective.

Or others. Being kind to each other is one of the things our society is sadly missing.

It's absolutely rude to point out someone's flaws in such a blunt way, and THAT is the point. What does it hurt anyone to try and be sensitive to the feelings of others?

And you're right, everyone knows that the term "pooh-sized" refers to someone who is heavy or fat, as you put it. But using your logic then we should go back to calling people crippled, retarded, and midgets - because after all that's what they are. :rolleyes1

if your not "pooh" sized or "tinkerbell" sized... then what are you??

I'm Kanga-sized: I have a big butt and a pouch that looks like I'm still carrying a Roo. :sad2:

I have to say I'm surprised people are giving their opinions of Pooh-sized with actual numeric sizes. Seeing your size being defined as "Pooh-sized" could be insulting if you don't define yourself that way. Ouch.

For that reason, I wouldn't describe someone as Pooh-sized, or try to put a numeric size to it, but if you want to call yourself Pooh-sized, more power to you. To thine own self be Pooh. (Sorry, couldn't resist.)

OK guys....I'm the OP and I wasn't looking to start a debate about wieght issues, the proper way to address an overweight person, any disability of any sort, etc. etc. etc.

I was simply curious as to what ( a size basically) qualified as pooh sized.

In restrospect, it was a bad idea and I apologize (not that I still wouldn't like to know that magic number).

I know that wonderful people come in all sizes. Please understand my intent in the original question and be civil with each other.

Sadly most stores these days think Plus sized is 14 and up...some even count 12 as plus sized now. I'm all for being healthy but 12 as a plus size? Please!!!!

TMI

This cracks me up! Yeah, I wonder when we will see the poster that writes:

"Hi, I am kind of worried about going on Tower of Terror. I am emaciated and look like a zipper when I stick my tongue out. Do you think I will fly up and hit the ceiling?"

:rotfl:

There isn't a "magic number." What constitutes "fat" is too subjective. You're only going to get people's opinions, and those--as you can see in this thread--are likely to vary widely. It's akin to asking what makes someone ugly. It's in the eye of the beholder.

I agree that this thread was probably a bad idea.

I think it's hard to put a size on it. If you're 5'2" and wear a size 14, you are what I would consider Pooh-sized. Someone who is 5'10" and wears a size 14 is not. KWIM??

if people just want to put pictures of themselves in this thread, i would be happy to tell you pooh sized or not.

Then maybe you shouldn't have.

= pooh size. :faint:

You're right. However, what I was trying to demonstrate was that one number couldn't possibly make the determination of what constitutes pooh-sized. There are too many variables that need to be considered.

Did one poster say that size 12 is really "pooh sized"?? Here I am after losing 85 lbs 2 years ago...am I pooh size, really?

oops, I'm confused with the new photobucket, is anyone else when it comes to editing for message boards?

I'm the OP again.....

Clearly not Pooh Sized and congratulions on the weight loss. You look wonderful. Looks like an 8-10 in my eyes.

Thanks, well actually its a 10/12, depending on what store I'm in.:)

What needs to be considered are the feelings of other people. How do you suppose that 5'2", size 14 person would feel after reading your previous post?
