What exactly is "Pooh sized"

Well, to be fair- on the DIS, anytime I have heard someone refer to his/herself as "pooh-sized", I can only ever remember it being a female making the remark. Not to say that men haven't said (typed) it, but I get the general impression that women use this term far more than men. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong- (I know the DISers will)!

So, I can understand why the poster thinks of women when they hear the term.

Although, by this general definition, men can most certainly be pooh-sized.

But then again, most of the answers about what constitutes "pooh-sized" were given in women's sizes.... Hmmmmm....

I have heard men on the dis call themselves pooh size.

Generally, those who have used the term "pooh sized" are concerned about fitting on rides. I think a size 16 wouldn't have that problem, so I define "pooh-sized" as grossly overweight.

I have always thought of pooh sized as maybe size 24 or above sonce like a prev. poster said..they seem to be concerened of they will fit on rides.

Yes. We fat people think that all it takes is a friendlier label to make us believe we're not truly fat.

Please! What does it hurt to use a more positive term? How on earth does it affect anybody in any way?

I guess it's not ok to call an overweight woman "pooh-sized," but it is ok to call that woman a cow.

There are lots of people on this board that use "cutesy" terms and I think that's all it is. I've seen kids referred to as "the sweetpea", "the rugrats", the "wee ones" and so on. I doubt anyone uses that term off the boards.

I guess I could be considered Pooh size. I can squeeze into a size 14, (I even have two size 12 things that run big, so I can wear them,) but usually I wear a size 16.

I usually wear a size 16, and I never have a problem getting on the rides at Disney.

True, being nice never hurts. After all how many people are there walking around out there that are stick thin, rail thin, fishing pole thin, but that would rather be known as slender? If I were that size I would kinda rather be known as Tinkerbell sized than Olive Oyl sized. lol

I don't think anyone is hiding behind anything, but that's just me.

I think some people just aren't happy unless they're pointing out everyone else's faults (which by the way is what most people, Pooh-sized, fat, or otherwise, generally refer to as RUDE!).

Who's hiding? Fat people can't very well hide behind a PC term, but if it's something a little more positive than "tub of lard," then who's it hurting? Nobody wants to be degraded, whether it's the vertically challenged or the horizontally challenged. I've never in my life heard the term "pooh size" outside the DIS, so I doubt the naysayers really have much to worry about.
