What don't you like about WDW? (no flames please!)

Absolutely my biggest beef with Disney: That they took the Education out of EPCOT. :furious:

No more Horizons. No more World of Motion. JIIY is a joke as is the living seas or whatever they're calling it this week. Sea World does it better.

The only remaining attractions of merit at EPCOT are Spaceship Earth and The Land. Even UoE needs some updating (although the moving seats in that ride are still wicked cool :teeth: )

Do I enjoy TT, yes I do and if that was only one of maybe 2 or 3 semi-thrill rides, that would be fine. But I don't like they trend of replacing the classics with more scare and terror.

Let the MK and MGM turn into thrill areas but leave EPCOT alone. It has a beauty and tranquility that doesn't need "improvements".

The Simpsons nailed my view of an educational Epcot. :rotfl2:

Another person unhappy with the bus service. I'm not keen on standing or having a butt in my face on every bus ride. Pretty sure I'll be renting a car from now on.

My gripes?

I agree that Epcot is a shadow of its former self. I used to adore that park and now we mostly just go in the evening and visit WS.

The deluxe hotels are way overpriced.

The bus transportation.

Lack of good restaurants in MGM and AK.

Turning Main Street into one big store and it losing the little unique places.

The buses

Lack of decent stores to buy groceries

The crowds (not Disney's fault by any means but still...)

No incentive program for frequent visitors.

Did I mention the buses? ;)

The monorail doesn't stop at my house.

There are such limited dining choices in Animal Kingdom (yet, so much potential..how about an awesome vegetarian place?)

There have been no new countries added to World Showcase in ages. (I dream of India, Ancient Egypt and Greece).

Yes, I agree! I always thought that we'd see more nations as time went on. :confused3

My biggest gripe is the Nescafe! Yuck! When I'm staying at mods or deluxes I use the in-room coffee makers and bring my own coffee and filters from home. When staying the the values they don't provide coffee makers and I usually bring a personal coffee maker from home. Yep, I'm one of "those people" :rotfl: Last trip I didn't bring it and suffered through the Nescafe, but it was horrible.

I agree about supplying little fridges in the value rooms. If they aren't going to supply them I at least wish they would guarantee that they would have enough if I want to rent one, but they don't guarantee it, so I bring a little cooler from home so that I am sure to have a way to keep drinks cold.

I don't understand so many of the internet complaints. Unless a person needs the high speed internet (ie, going to be doing work and needs the fast connection), they can dial up for a small charge. I dial up and it's less than a dollar. I do it in the evening when I have the time and energy and it's good enough to do an e-mail check, DIS for a little while, etc. Of course if a person needs it for work or needs the phone line, that's different. But it can work for a lot of people.

How could I have forgotten that? Being vegetarian we about starved at AK, which is kind of ironic...

1) Crowds

2) Humidity

3) Having to get a seat so early for parades, Fantasmic, Illuminations, etc. (see #1)

4) People who stop in the middle of the theater instead of following the rules & going to the end (not Disney's fault, I know).

5) Transferring monorails to get from MK resort to Epcot (see #2).

I don't drink coffee but I do love hot tea. WDW went from having Twinings everywhere to Nescafe tea which is pretty awful. I love stopping for tea in England since I can still get the Twinings there. Boma also has good tea.

That they don't enforce their dress codes. When 95% of the people dining at a restaurant can see fit to change before a meal, why can't that last 5% of slobs do so? I will say that they are getting MUCH better about this, and more and more I"m seeing and hearing from other DIS'ers that this is being enforced.

That they allow people to smoke in non-smoking rooms and on the balconies of non-smoking rooms.

That they don't enforce smoking policies in the parks better.

That they don't offer adult only wings/floors/buildings in the resorts, and don't offer either an adult only restaurant (13 and up would also be fine with me), or perhaps better yet make a policy not to seat anyone under 13 after a certain time (8:00pm?) in the Signature restaurants.

That they don't come up with a better way to stop pool hopping.

That they've closed so much of some of the parks and not done anything to replace the closed attractions with something new. In Epcot Universe of Energy adn WOnders of life are both closed, there's major construction at the Living Seas, and the refreshment shop a the Outpost hasn't been open in the last six times I've been there. In the MK, Timekeeper, The Noodle Stop, Pirates, and a couple other things are closed.

Speaking of restaurants being closed, there are a ton of them closed both counter service and full service, and it's nearly impossible to get an ADR, and counter service waits are twenty minutes or more--and this isn't even during peak times. They need to open restaurants that have been shuttered to accomodate their crowds or kill the dining plan which is encouraging the over consumption of food anyhow. They also need to stop overbooking ADR's so people end up waiting half an hour past their reservation to be seated.

I HATE the new buses.

The corporate branding and commercialism of having every attraction exit through a shop of overpriced crap made in "insert name of third world country here" has gotten disgusting.

Too many attractions now have one CM operating something that formerly three CM's would be assigned to. This makes it difficult for anyone with a GAC to get assistance, and makes the CM's overworked and not the cheery WDW CM's of an earlier age.

The "costumes" on the CM's in the Canada pavilion are as insulting as assuming Canadians live in igloos. I'd much rather see them in ROOTS t-shirts that say "Made In Canada" on them. ;) I can understand a lot of the other costumes, as they reflect what people would have worn 100 years ago. But even 100 years ago, people in Canada didn't overwhelmingly dress like lumberjacks, they dressed like everyone in the US did. (And it's not like lumberjacks were found in the Maritimes and prarie provinces either--which makes up a measurable portion of the country.)

Nescafe. The worst. The first thing we usually do is go to AKL and buy a bag of Kenyan coffe at the Mara, then I bring a press pot and use the in-room coofee maker for the hot water to put in the press pot. I can't leave my hotel room without a decent cup of coffee. If we stay at POP then I get hot water at the food court.

And I can't stand being bumped into by people, especiallly when they act like I'm at fault! Just apologize and move on --how hard is that?

ITA. Good list! :thumbsup2 . As others have stated, I am very disappointed in what Future World in Epcot is slowly turning into. I hope they go back to what it started out as. I am also turned off by the not so subtle push to buy merchandise everytime you turn around. And while I'm on that subject, turning all the shops into generic ones that sell exactly the same stuff as the one across the way. I used to like to go to the little shops that sold items you couldn't find everywhere else. Lastly, I also vote that Stitch is not a timeless character I want to cherish along with Mickey!

Eclectics, as always with politics on here, I seem to agree with you here as well. My parents and I were in disney last month and they hadn't been for several years and mentioned there were so many of the same shops, no new countries in epcot, and FW in epcot was not so future anymore.

1. That the CMs are so afraid of offending a guest that they will not enforce rules such as smoking in non-smoking areas, dress code, the use of those heel rollerskate things in the parks, etc.

2. That guests think the CMs are there to cater to their every whim and thus they don't bother to clean up after themselves or put their trash where it belongs.

Likewise :). I always seem to end up quoting Planogirl who has a wise mind indeed! One last little gripe is closing the parks so early, especially in September and early October when it's still fairly light out till 8:30 or 9. Some of us don't want to spend the later part of every evening at WS or DTD/PI.

Anne

Why 13? We have to pay adult prices for 10 year olds, they are considered adults. That said, my child is very well behaved, we had him at 3 years old at the Yachtsman Steakhouse and were complimented by an older couple about how well he behaved. They did give us dirty looks when we sat down since they figured he would be bad.

too far and the crowds (can't do value season)

#1 thing I dislike about Disney is having to leave! :guilty:

#2 would like to see a "frequent flyer type" program. Most hotels do it now and it is a great incentive! They could give you points based on the cost of your last vacation which could be applied to your next. I think alot more people that haven't stayed at Deluxe's may.....

#3 would also like to see a junior category from 9-13 for tickets & dining

I love it...I can't really say anything negative about WDW. :thumbsup2

If we went during crowded times, then I could say that I hate the crowds...but we ALWAYS pull DD11 & DS8 out of school & go for a 9 days trip.

I love the ideas in #2 from the poster above me.
