What does everyone do when they've been sweating in the parks all day...

On hot days we make time to go back to the resort. To relax and shower at least.

I bring some make-up, small hairbrush, facial wipes, plus travel size deodorant and Gold Bond powder.

I wash my hands and arms well. Wet the hairbrush and use it. Give my face a wet wipe and reapply make-up such as eye liner and powder based foundation. Powder in my shoes and bra, and freshen my deodorant, then I'm good to go.

There are times when we don't get out of the hotel early enough to make taking an afternoon break practical. I feel confident enough to go for dinner with a washroom freshening if I'm carrying the right toiletries.

What do I do? Most of the time if it's in the heat of the day and during the summer, I'm going to do absolutely nothing and continue to sweat and stink. If someone doesn't like it next to me then too bad, they can go do an Alaskan cruise instead where nobody is sweating or stinking. :rotfl2:

If we went back to the resort, that would be nice- but more times than not, we don't want to take a break in our day to do this. We just go eat.

I am disabled and I find that the disabled toilets have a sink in them. Perfect for my wife to help me clean up. Bring deodrant, a clean t shirt, a small face towel and good to go! Belle of the ball ( well not quite but clean anyway )

It always depended on what restaurant we were going to - if it was something nice then yes we would go back and change. I have also taken clothes with me so I could avoid spending time traveling (especially if there was a delay with the buses or what-have-you). But this last trip, we stayed in the parks until dinner and then freshened up when it was time.

DH and I go to WDW in October, December or early May (not all in the same year... I wish!!). Even though it's never terribly hot when we go, we ALWAYS go back to our resort to clean up and change before any resort dinner. We dress up for dinner (dress, heels, fancy jewelry, etc. for me, khakis/shirt or suit (V&A) for DH), so a trip back to the room is a must. Plus, we keep wine, cheese, snacks and a cordial of some sort in the room, so it's so nice to relax with a drink on the balcony while getting ready for dinner.

Trouble with "going back" to the resort to shower, change etc is that it can take HOURS away from valuable park time--especially for infrequent or first time visitors

Definitely would take too long to leave park, head to hotel, all 5 of us shower or freshen up and then head out again. I've never eaten at a signature rest, so that would probably be different. And, we usually do our "nicest" dinner on arrival night since we haven't been in the park all day. Time is too valuable while we are there. That would take hours away from our enjoyment of whatever we might be doing...park, pool, disney springs....

Wet ones or baby wipes to wipe yourself down, spray deodorant (not perfume or body spray... there's nothing worse when people try to cover up their stench with perfumes, it just makes it worse), some dry shampoo, and maybe a shirt and some undergarments thrown into your bag.

Thanks all, I scheduled our Yachstman reservation for our non-park day so we can dress the way I'd like to. We're at the BWV so going back to the hotel for an afternoon break isn't a problem from EPCOT or even DHS. MK is the park that concerns me but MK day 1 we are doing LTT so if we just freshen up in the restroom a bit, we should be OK and MK day 2 we will be heading back to the hotel around 5 because we head home the next morning and will need to get packing and whatnot so we can wash up and eat dinner at any of the EPCOT Resort restaurants.

We just go eat. Figuring most of the rest of the guests have been in the parks right along side of us. If it works to freshen up before hand, we do. If it doesn't, we don't. Never stopped us from going though.
Same here. I will try to get to my ressie early and spend time catching my breath and doing a quick sponge-off in the nearest bathroom. I don't wear any makeup at Disney because I do sweat so much it is a waste. However, I don't do signature dining either, for me it is usually just Cape May or Captain's Grille on my DHS day. Neither of those is too fancy.

Something else occurred to me, I'm pretty selective about the clothing I pick for Disney, at least in the summer.
I wear only wicking type clothing. So our clothes are not all sweaty and icky. They actually hold up quite well to the temps. I wear only Sparkle Skirts to the park, paired with running tanks
And never anything white, or pastel. So that cuts down on them looking dingy/grimy.
If DGD does have on something that gets trashed for some reason, I am not above buying something to prevent her from looking like a ragamuffin. But I also try to put her in clothes that can stand up to the day. And she had long hair that we keep in a pony at the parks. Typically that means it remains presentable.
Most of my sweating is my face and head so it doesn't really matter. Nothing I wear helps with that! But I have also started wearing the moisture-wicking runners tank tops, etc. in the parks. It makes such a huge difference without your clothes sticking to you. I tried to wear a normal t-shirt one day and I made it to the food court for a drink refill and went straight back and changed. It felt like my skin was on fire compared to the moisture-wicking tops!

We don't change for dinner, but we do try to wear nice day-to-night clothes in the first place. My grooming routine takes a long time, and I'm not willing to take that much time away from the parks. So sun dress, damp paper towel for the face, and a hair brush does it. I'm resigned to the fact that I'll never be my most glamorous at a Disney dinner, but somehow it's liberating not to care!

if we were going victoria & albert's we'd obviously shower, and make ourselves look better. If it was just a regular sit down dining experience, I feel it is not necessary to have to clean up ourselves before the reservation.

Do the deluxe resorts still have washcloths to dry your hands in the signature restaurant area restrooms?

1) No.
2) Even the Contemporary went to paper towels in a wall-hung dispenser.
3) More cost-cutting and less customer attention.

Throw a light summer dress or a change of shirt in your daybag. If you bring one, you can use it for every dinner :)

When showering for the morning, make sure to liberally apply antiperspirant - to strange places (under your breasts! Wow, what a difference).

Spend five minutes in the bathroom freshing up (throw on the new shirt, wipe off your face and the back of your neck, reapply a little makeup if you want and fifteen minutes in the air.

Good to go.

(Oh, and don't even try to do anything with your hair - in the summer heat and humidity it will do what it does. This is the time for braids, ponytails, or natural waves)
