What does everyone do when they've been sweating in the parks all day...

The last time (and only time - we've only been once before) we hit the parks and didn't come home until dark. With one exception for the Halloween party, DD (then 5 yo) needed a nap. Otherwise we didn't want to stop our adventure. Paper towels and a comb were good enough for us, even though it had been in the 90s.
I'm assuming that this next trip will be very similar. Maybe folks who go more often don't feel like they're missing out if they go back to the resort? I would LOVE to go every year, or even 3 years, and have what I consider the luxury of taking time for showers during the day - but DH would never agree to it.

Our situation is different. We go every 2 years or so and stay for about 10 days. Our kids have also been toddlers and under the age of 5 and they just cannot deal with being in the heat that long. With FP's and rope drop crowds, we have always been able to see and do what we want even with a mid-day break. Plus, spending time at the resort is also a big part of our trip.

Normally I don't go to the parks all day so there really isn't time to go back to the room to shower before dinner. Besides like a pp said, in the August heat by the time I get back to the park (or another resort), I'm hot and sweaty all over again, my hair is a big frizz ball and I don't feel any different than I did early in the day.
The only difference would be if I was eating at my resort, then at least I wouldn't even have to go outside to get to the restaurant.

Add us into the minority here too. I don't feel the need to return to the resort to shower again, to get all sweaty getting to whatever dining we have planned for that day. DS and I will go into the restroom before sitting down and wash hands, brush hair, wipe down face, but that's about it. I never noticed or thought we looked any different than any other family eating.

I totally get it - I would give my eye teeth to go that often and for so long!
Hubby doesn't see the point in vacationing twice in the same place: "we've already seen/done that, why go back?" I'm thrilled to be able to go back again and will take what I can get. (Mind you, DD is turning 18 - so that's 13 years ago the last time we went :sad2:)

I apologize in advance to anyone we sit near as we might look disheveled and be a bit odoriferous.

then have to go to dinner in the evening but can't get back to the hotel to wash up?

We are going to be in the MK all day and since we will be there in August I know it's most likely going to be in the 90s during the day so we will be sweating something awful. I was thinking of making reservations at one of the monorail resort restaurants (we already are doing LTT on another of our MK days, and I'm not keen on the other places in the park for dinner) but since we are staying at the BWV, it's not feasible to go back to the hotel, wash up and change, then head back to the MK area. So how do people do it? Is there someplace we can cool down or freshen up? I hate the idea of being in sweaty clothes that we've had on all day to eat in a nice restaurant.

We had V&A with no easy way to go back to room. We took a bag with change of clothes and shoes. I always take assorted ziplocs with ..especially larger..took a wash cloth in one. We changed in a restroom at the resort. It worked fine. Some resorts have lockers you can leave stuff in. We didnt bother. You can either carry this bag in parks or rent a locker. We rented a locker.

We don't spend all day in the parks...

When we go back to resort/offsite villa/wbc wherever we're staying-
I like to bathe/shower and change-indeed I could wear several outfits per day; just for the fun of it.

Dh ordinarily naps & pool time and would happily not shower if I didn't push him to (I'm okay-just gonna be sweaty again-)
however when it's dried up and he can freshen up-why not?!

Our ds & dd are more like me in their washing duties also.

Encouraging my dh is purely for my interest as I have a very keen sense of smell..

I've sat in many restaurants during the day where we are hot/sticky/sweaty/uncomfortable-but we always carry a sweet smelling deodorant & wipes...better than nothing.

The rare evening meals we have ate out-I've never come across any stinkers nor underdressed or overdressed guests...

And yes,in the humidity-I can be horribly sweaty again as soon as we venture outside.

A friend of mine always brings exfoliating wipes. I used to make fun of her. Then we went to a Red Sox game, it was in the 90s and super humid. You wouldn't even believe how refreshed I felt after using one. So, they now go everywhere with me. You not only feel refreshed; you have a nice fresh smell. I still look like a wreck, what can you do, but for me it's the feeling of being clean.

We just go eat. Figuring most of the rest of the guests have been in the parks right along side of us. If it works to freshen up before hand, we do. If it doesn't, we don't. Never stopped us from going though.
I was beginning to worry I was the only one. We have early dinner reservations (like 3:55) for GF. Planned on just going as is, after a quick wipe down in the bathroom and maybe a fresh tank top. LOL

Something else occurred to me, I'm pretty selective about the clothing I pick for Disney, at least in the summer.
I wear only wicking type clothing. So our clothes are not all sweaty and icky. They actually hold up quite well to the temps. I wear only Sparkle Skirts to the park, paired with running tanks
And never anything white, or pastel. So that cuts down on them looking dingy/grimy.
If DGD does have on something that gets trashed for some reason, I am not above buying something to prevent her from looking like a ragamuffin. But I also try to put her in clothes that can stand up to the day. And she had long hair that we keep in a pony at the parks. Typically that means it remains presentable.

Me & DD will go to the ladies room and use a wash cloth that we borrow from our room to wipe our face down etc.

We always go back and shower if we are doing dinner and park time in the evening. If its just a dinner, we freshen up with a wash cloth ( we pack one). I also like tea tree oil wipes- we get them at Trader Joe's.

OK, so I changed around a few reservations and now I don't have to worry about choosing between losing time in the park and washing up for dinner. My next question is, would an hour be enough time to get from MK to BWV? We'd be leaving MK around 4:30 and hope to make it back to the hotel by 5:30. Then we would wash up, change and be ready to leave at 6:30 for our 7:00 reservations at the Yachtsman.

Yes. I would think an hour is enough time. And Yachtsman is really close to the Boardwalk, so you might not even need to leave at 6:30p to walk over there.

My standard plan in Disney when it's summer is a quick shower in the morning before we hit rope drop. I don't bother to do my hair because it's wasted effort in the AM humidity - just a ponytail. We take our afternoon break and swim and relax in the room. I take my long shower in the afternoon and do my hair for the evening. Then I feel presentable for dinner.

This is gonna seem like sarcasm (I don't have a sarcastic thought in my head)...but it's serious:

Honestly, I go out early and sweat out a base layer to get the temperature regulated...the body needs that in the heat.

Wear two shirts...moisture wicking underneath works...then change the top shirt as needed.

This is what we all get for vacationing in hades' lobby

I had to think about this...but generally if we have a nice dinner planned we make time to go back to our resort and shower/change etc. If we are eating IN a park and there isn't time to go back to change, we start looking for air conditioned attractions to hit up about an hour prior so we can dry out. Hit a bathroom to wipe down the face and neck etc. Use the hand dryers if needed.

If I was going to a very fancy restaurant I would go back to the resort and freshen up. However I didn't book any of those. So like some of the others here... I would probably just go in the restroom with DD and wipe off with wipes/ etc to freshen up. We are going to Disney in October and I know everyone says it's still hot so I don't see the point in going back to the resort to clean up, then back to the park for dinner and all sweaty by the time we get there again. To me it's also no different then when we go to another amusement park. I live near King's Island. There is 1 sit down inside restaurant there. We spend all day at the parks sweating and then do a quick clean in the bathroom and go to the restaurant. I have never been offended or smelled any one else there and I apologize if I ever smelled! lol!!! Honestly I never even considered it an issue until reading these forums.

Exactly how I feel. I'm not sure I said it as well.

I agree about IN PARK. Restaurants. We freshen up for Resort & Signature Restaurants.
