What do you think of THIS strike?

Midwest Express Flight Attendants are striking right now because talks broke down with the airline and they can't come to a meeting ground.

They want a 9.5% raise and ME says they can only afford 5-6%. As I understand it, this is one of the major differences.

Wow, I wish I could get a 9.5% raise. I think they should be happy with the 5-6% considering the state of the airlines and general economy right now.

I think that they deserve the 9.5% raise; those attendants make the BEST hot, chocolate chip cookies in the air .........

considering the UPS Teamsters just got 20% and that the average major league baseball player gets 2.4 million.....who knows! I'm happy with 5%.....but...."I'm Goofy"

I also think I read somewhere that it has been almost 3 years since the last raise...my hubby is in the same boat in his job, almost 3 years since a raise...I think it kinda sucks, I at least get a raise once a year, and don't have to ask for it!!! I agree on the chocolate chip cookies!!!! I just love Midwest Express!!!

My Dad works in the airlines and went many years without a raise. They finally got a hefty one, but it's broken down and phased in over a few years' span. That could be how this is....not sure though.

Well, if they haven't had any raises recently and I could see the 9.5% raise being OK then. Maybe they just need to spread it out over another year or so, or even make it dependant on the airline's earnings more closely. Who knows...

And EROS, aren't they the <I>only</i> one that makes chocolate chips cookies? I know plenty that make bags of salty peanuts, but that's the only cookies I ever remember getting in flight.
