Clothes - the majority of the time they're either the wrong size or a style I don't prefer.

Huge fan of getting gift cards over anything else but that's just my opinion.

I actually love socks! Ask for them every chance I get, love the colorful patterns and crazy designs! Just got a pair with corgi butts on it!

To answer the question: I hate when someone's asked me what I want (fun socks! ) and then they give me something completely unrelated or off the wall (I once was given a gift card for like 10 spray tan sessions, look I know I can be confused for a mansion guest but I didn't ask for that! and what I wanted was cheaper anyway.)

while I've never "hated" anything I received as a birthday present, I was definitely not thrilled to get the "BugZooka" bug vacuum for Mother's Day one year.

I don't get birthday gifts, I told all family and friends years ago no more gifts. I'm one of the lucky ones that if I want something I buy it and I really don't need anything.

I like getting gift cards a lot, but not to a store I don't frequent. The only people who still buy me gifts should know my habits, I think, or at least try to.

Purses, my mother in law gives me one every year. I’m not a purse person at all and like a small light one. It’s been 20+ years and she doesn’t realize it even though we see each other often and I don’t use a 1/3 of the ones she’s bought me.

Hate is too strong a word but please don't bother giving me a gift card or anything chocolate. And I can really do without the $8 Hallmark card...it means nothing to me and is going right in the trash with the wrapping paper, no matter how heartfelt the sentiment was.
