What common phrases do you hate?

This phrase annoys me and I'm hearing it more and more lately.....

"Winner, winner, chicken dinner!"

It's cringe worthy to me........"cringe worthy".... Probably annoying to someone else. :rotfl:

Baby Daddy or Baby Momma

It went from being a trashy phrase to mainstream.

Not only is it grammatically a fingernail on my chalkboard of life, but to me is is just disrespectful.

These, along with 'Baby Bump' are definitely my top 3. If babies could talk, I can only imagine the fury that would come from their mouths at the disrespect being tossed their way these days.

I am also not a fan of date night (for married couples or parent/child.) Thankfully, I don't really know anyone who uses the phrase on a regular basis.

I'm going to be blatantly non-PC here and say that sometimes, Baby Mama or Baby Daddy just fits the situation. That two word phrase sums up a lot of information. It means something much different from "the father/mother of my child." Goes way beyond that.

OR you could use the correct term of "biological father/mother":confused3

"Late" as in good-bye. Too lazy to say "Bye" you need to say "late"? Drives me crazy. It takes just as long to say 'bye' as it does 'late'.

So extended family is from the country but I do not like "over yonder". It is used alot in my family but what does it actually mean? Around the bend? Over the hill (even though its flat as a board)? Just down the street? My family uses it to give accurate directions. :confused3

Those two phrases I can do without the most. Just for kicks - Everything is Coke people. "Wanna coke? What kind?" Isn't that another thread somewhere? :rolleyes1

What I have learned from this thread~

Anything that I say/type has the potential to offend someone somewhere.

Baby Mama or Baby Daddy says a lot more than "biological parent." I'm not a fan of WHAT it says, but there's a whole lot of meaning in those two words.

Although I am being nice when I use the term baby daddy for my daughter bio dad. I should use the correct term sperm donor but that would be an insult to the sperm donors out there in the world

Got this from Stewie on Family Guy.....
"all of the sudden"
"a whole nother"
both I hear all the time too!

well, if it was done in a clinic with doctors assistance, then yes.

otherwise, at some point, two consenting adults who love each other very much give each other a special hug....:lmao:

"WORK FLOW".

Management's definition "Changes made to make doing your job easier"

Workers definition "Changes made that show you have no clue what our job is, what we need to do it, how we need to do it, or the space we need to do it in".

This is a spelling thing, but I don't like "Wallah" instead of "Voilà"!

Anything that I say/type has the potential to offend someone somewhere.
None of these things are offensive to people....just small things that are mildly irritating. As an English teacher, I cringe when I see people misusing "your" for "you're". It doesn't mean these people are deeply offensive to me. It's just my own weird thing.

I have never seen that spelling written anywhere but that is hilarious!! It would definitely annoy me too if I saw someone spell it in that way!
