What attractions should be put out to pasture?

Another vote for Jungle Cruise. During our visit in October, there was no one in line for the ride. We walked on the boat and waited a couple of minutes until there were about 15 of us and it left the dock. The CM operating the ride was just plain boring...didn't even try to be funny. I know bad jokes are part of the routine, but he didn't have any emotion in his voice at all and was difficult to understand. The other thing I noticed is that the CM's appear to be really bored and end up chatting with each other instead of doing their jobs. When we were stepping off the rear of the boat, a little girl in front of us tripped and fell face-first onto the dock. Luckily she wasn't injured, but the CM was just standing there instead of helping her off the boat. Yes, time for Jungle Cruise to head off into the sunset...

Sounds Dangerous was a waste of our time. I could have sat in the dark at home and listened to my kids crash around the house.:rotfl2:

Tiki Room can go...i don't care if it has the first ever animitronics ever!!!!! it really is a waste of space....NO ONE goes in their. Last year i took the time to observe the queue and i saw the preshow like 3 times. no one showed up.

I'm not a huge fan of the Tiki Room either, but crowds do fill it in busier times of year, like the summer when it's really hot outside.

Another vote for Sounds Dangerous! I really enjoyed the original movie with Chevy Chase - how could they have possibly thought this replacement was an improvement?? And, sadly, that same sentiment goes to Journey Into Imagination. I just LOVED the original..."One little spark..." Same thing with Tiki Room. "In the Tiki, Tiki, Tiki, Tiki room..."

I'm okay with the Jungle Cruise, but I bet it was much more exciting when the CM shot the hippo! :rotfl:

I agree that there are ENOUGH play areas and that MGM really needs some more rides! Anyone else remember when the Backlot Tour took hours and was actually interesting?? :earboy2:

I can't dispute what you experienced, but I was also there in October and the line for JC was about a half-hour (and one of the longest lines of our entire week). The CM's were all great...enthusiastic, smiling, and full of corniness. Maybe you just had a bad trip :teeth:

Here's my list, with some of the attractions listed that should get an update and not get scrapped.

Magic Kingdom: STICH (out of here), Timekeeper( I like it but if it's not going to be open, take it out, Indy Speedway(needs updating), Jungle Cruise and carousel of Progress.

Epcot: Journey into Imagination , Living Seas (updating), Wonders of life (not open , so make something new)

MGM: Drew carey( scrap it), Star tours ( update), Indy show (if you're putting in the Indy ride, scrap it if not leave the show alone) Fantasmic ( make some changes to the show, too long and repetitive with the water screens).

Animal Kingdom: Tarzan Rocks ( shows a little weird) , Kilimanjaro Safari (needs more animals and a rework of the whole ending with the poachers thing, kind of cheesy) Rafiki's planet watch( the whole thing could be changed in my opinion)

it's a small world needs to be cut in 1/2 ( i know some love it but it is just way to boring after the first 3 mins.to be that long)

jungle cruise is kind of hokey now that safari is there, fake animals vs real ones and the corney jokes are to corney to hear more than once or twice...

indiana jones, even harrison ford is too old to play him anymore so that shows how outdated that one is :rotfl2:

Not true. Indiana Jones 4 has been announced by George Lucas and Steven Spielberg with Harrison Ford recreating his role as the infamous Mr. Jones.

Well I am going to put my my flame suit on :firefight and say It's a Small World. I know everyone else loves it, but I think it's the lamest ride ever. DS hated it and DH (who wanted to go on it in the first place) said it reminded him of a grade school pagaent. Also, it was the only attraction I was on at WDW that I actually felt like I was in just a building. I know most of the rides are in buildings, but I didn't get that feeling anywhere else except IASW.

I like the Indiana Jones show but I have only seen it twice. Seems like every few years they would come up with a different skit.

oK - It may be lame to adults but for Parents with small children - this is one of the few happy - not scary rides we can take our kids on. We rode it seven times on our last trip!!!! ::MickeyMo

Ok I used to love the Tiki Room - BUT they completely ruined it with the 'under new management' with the stupid parrot and bird from the lion king. Its HORRIBLY loud...My preschoolers loved the birds up until the stupid new parrot & fiago? appeared. Then the dumb tiki God coming out from the center of the room is just the stupidest. Why is everything so loud at WDW now? Is everyone DEAF?

Snow White-how many little kids have to be scared out of their wits-just plain stupid.

Tiki Birds-what a waste of time.

I agree with the Snow White ride - so scary. My daughter didnt wantto go on any other rides after seeing this ride. I had forgotten how frightening to a preschooler this might be.

The Tiki birds used to be a nice show...but they ruined it with the overly loud sound system...and the obnoxious new characters.

Indy cars - can be ridden at any park
Indiana Jones - replace with the California attraction
Tiki Room
Wonders of Life - I liked Horizons better

I love the Jungle Cruise but wouldn't mind seeing it updated a bit.

Wow - lots of people thinking just of their own family. "Ride x we hate, ride z is boring for my kids, ride q my spouse and I avoid..." At the risk of getting flamed, Disney is not just for one family. Just because YOU don't like a certain ride doesn't mean others don't. Yes, I realize in my Disney fanaticism I am defensive of rides that are staples to the parks - Spaceship Earth, Splash Mountain, Star Tours, Jungle Cruise, etc. I As a side note, I think the appeal of JC is the tour guide - they are very talented people who remind me of the street performers in MGM. The ride is secondary to them, but yes, they could certainly update it. I'd just hate to see it go.

There are some rides that are "misses" as far as popularity goes, but as one person said, there are LOTS of people who have yet to experience Disney magic, and to tear down something as recognizable to people everywhere as the "giant golfball thing" (Spaceship Earth) is probably not a good move. Update it - I'd certainly love it if it didn't stop so often, and I recognize that Jungle Cruise isn't as "real" as Kilimanjaro Safaris, but it seems to me that the whole place isn't meant to be REAL. If that's the case, why would we all run toward people dressed in animal suits? There's an element of fantasy and magic that's supposed to be there. Disney's magic isn't that the rides are the most up-to-date or feature the most amazing effects. Some of my favorite rides are my favorites because they remind me of past trips, my favorite Disney movies, etc. You can go to your local amusement park for thrills. Disney is special to me because of the atmosphere, and some of the rides that people seem to want to get rid of are what I think of when I think of Disney.

That being said, this is a very interesting thread because I always assumed that people all love most of the rides (based on wait times), so I'm really intrigued by who likes/dislikes what and why. I DO NOT mean to sound "holier than thou"; I just am genuinely surprised at how quickly some people want to raze the classics. I'm just glad that we aren't the ones in charge of the parks because I think there'd be changes every day and the magic of WDW would be very different than what it is.

You took the words right out of my mouth (er, keyboard)! Yes, I like the "thrill" rides now, but there must always be something for everyone at Disney World. I hope to return many times in the future, even when I'm old and feeble. Who knows, IASW may seem pretty "thrilling" when I'm 80!! :)

Our vote goes to TTA relaxing and good speed for a nap, overall needs an update.

Stitch...waste of time and space

Tiki Room should have been left alone

Sounds Dangerous... Drew Carey is so 5 years ago

Soarin I have to admit I was disappointed, especially with all the hype

I agree with Jungle Cruise. Now that the Animal Kingdom is there, it just makes the Jungle Cruise seem, well, sad. I could do without Stitch too.

I would have to say:
Drew Carey...Sounds Dangerous
All of the playground areas (we're at Disney...kids can play on the playgrounds at home)
and the Jungle Cruise

But you really have to love it all!!! It is magic! :earboy2:

MGM - Indy should hit the road, along with Drew
MK - Stitch should go back to space

I can appreciate where you're coming from, but I don't think that was the point of the post. The point was to just express opinions. I don't think any poster on here thinks that their opinion is what is right for Disney as a whole...I'm sure there's not one single ride/attraction/show that has NO fans. There's someone out there for every attraction!! I personally REALLY loved Horizons and World of Motion...but I can see why they were taken out. The point of this post was to think of only their own families...we can't speak for Disney or anyone else.
