What attractions should be put out to pasture?

Great Movie Ride - MGM
Small World - MK
Muppet 3d show - MGM

Once is enough on GMR and SW - Muppet show looking very dated now, especially when compared to the likes of Shrek at Universal.

I actualy avoid universe of energy now since they changed it. IT has lost all the charm and magic it had when i was a child. The whole jepordy bit was pointless stupid and totaly didn't fit with the dinosaurs. It took the once serious and majestic attraction and turned it into a joke. it still ticks me off to this day.

it does that Fantasia omage to shame.

Talking about a thread designed to start wars! Personally I would throw a major fit if they took out POTC, Jungle Cruise, Tom Sawyers Island, or especially CoP!

I've never seen Alien or Sticth but I really liked the old Mission to Mars they had in there.

TimeKeeper could easily go, I like Robin williams but it's just not that good for a Imax type movie. There isn't anything wrong with speedway but it should be upgraded and themed better.

And for God Sakes bring back 20K (upgraded version).

People always want to get rid of the classics but the truth is that when you take out those classics they only get replaced with cheap carnival immitations of Disney rides. It's too bad Imagineers got the boot and most everything is contracted out these days.

Besides that, we may have seen/been on these rides dozens of times but children haven't and when they do they find the same enjoyment we did as children. HoP and CoP both got the "are those real people" question from my son and if they are still there when he has kids then it will most likely get the same question from them. If our amazement is gone then it's because we have grown up and that's our own fault.

I don't know that that is the case...there have been some great upgrades in the past few years -- Soarin' replaced Kitchen Cabaret and few are complaining, Test Track replaced World of Motion and is a great ride, Mickey's Philharmagic replaced Legend of Lion King and is a GREAT show (the best of Disney), Mission: Space is much more enjoyable to me than Horizons ever was and it seems like the Imagineers are doing a great job with Everest. Yes, the Imagineers botched Stitch, but if you look at recent successes like Kilimanjaro Safari, the Tree of Life, Turtle Talk with Crush, Mission:Space, Test Track, Philharmagic, Soarin', Everest (I even like Pooh better than Toad) some of the work is excellent.

Magic Kingdom -
Country Bear Jamboree
Tomorrowland Speedway

Epcot -
Spaceship Earth
Odyssey building

Animal Kingdom -
Tarzan Rocks

Studios -
Sounds Dangerous

Those are what I'd choose to demolish and replace with something different.

I think a bunch of attractions could stand to be updated. Here's just a few...

Magic Kingdom -
Space Mountain - update to be more in-line with SM at other parks (or keep it as-is for sentimental reasons and build an improved Space Mountain 2.0 where Tomorrowland Speedway is now)

Epcot -
Test Track - if it's supposed to represent GM's "cutting edge" automotive technology, lets bring it out of the early '90s, mmmkay?

Animal Kingdom -
Rafiki's Planet Watch
Flights of Wonder (my son is a bird watcher so it's a must-see for us - but it is the EXACT same show each time).

Studios -
Star Tours - update for better effects and include ALL the Star Wars movies (not just Return of the Jedi)

Ellen's Universe of Energy is a good place for a nap :ssst:

Ditch it!

I agree. This attraction is boring as it gets.

Only reason I wouldn't get rid of it, is they have gotten rid of so much at Epcot already:

Horizons
World Of Motion
Wonders Of Life has been closed since the jurassic period.
Talk of changing Spaceship Earth.

I'd say Indy Speedway too, but little kids really like that, even though it's the most utterly unentertaining ride in all of Disney World.

While I'll agree that the speedway is boring to an adult, I will say my 4 year old is completely stoked about going and riding it. He gets to drive a "big person car!" I will however, put my vote in for Jungle Cruise. I don't want it removed, but rather re-invented with updated animatronics, etc. Unfortunately, the ride has become as hokey as the jokes...

I'd be in favor of replacing Speedway with a better themed race track for kids. Since it's in TomorrowLand, how about something futuristic? Probably should keep it outdoors... I'd like to see it made easier to drive for the kids.

Carousel of Progress is far more outdated than any of the others mentioned above. However, it's a spendid place to take a nap. Stitch is just stupid; but is slightly better than its predecessor. :cool1: :sunny:

Our favourite song......"It's a great big beautiful tomorrow", we sing and sing and sing. It is a must do on our list, if nothing else, it revamps our singing til the next disney trip :earsgirl:

Although a lot of the classics are now lame to adults, they are still great fun for the kids.

Now Stitch on the other hand sounds like it has to go. I haven't been on it since it was Alien Encounter which I thought was ok. But if it is toned down now and bores adults --- but still scares the heck out of kids --- What purpose does it serve?

Oh I almost forgot: get rid of Honey I Shrunk the Audience. Its HORRIBLE. Especially in comparison to some of their other 3/4D shows like Philharmagic.

This is really going to start some controversy....I think Splash Mountain is the lamest water ride I've been on. Granted it's cute and all, and now there's a Brer Rabbit movie out. But water rides (specifically flume rides) are popping up all over that have made this obsolete (can you say "I'll Save you Nell!"?).

Could you possibly be referring to Dudley Do-Wait, and wait and wait and wait and wait some more in line? ...That's one the IOA could do without.

Indiana Jones- at least update it
Drew Carey needs to go
Backlot Tour Catastrophe Canyon-needs to be updated
Timekeeper

Aladdin's Carpet thing.UGH!
We enjoy most of the classics. Yes, we know what to expect but it's still fun. For the last 3 years we've allowed DD to bring a friend who has never been to WDW. The classics are made new each time because of the look of awe on DD's friend's faces.

Primeval whirl-we love it! I'm a chicken so I feel brave when I ride it. Makes me feel like a big girl(at 47,LOL). DD and DH get a kick out of seeing me scream so now it's a
family favorite.

Is Stictch really that bad? I haven't seen it yet. As much heat as it has gotten, I hate to say that I'm going to check it out in January. But I have to see what all the griping is about! As for my vote on the worst ride, I have to say that I absolutely hate Indy and I hate hate hate hate Speedway. I never like the Indy movies and I don't like Indy at the park. As for Speedway, I just don't get it. :confused3 Total waste of space.

I agree with you all on Stitch. It's dumb and a waste of time. I did it for the first time in September and I think it's far worse than Alien Encounter. I always hate those bars that rest on your shoulders anyway. They always come down to far and really hurt my shoulders.

I like Jungle cruise and Potc. They're just classics and bring back all those childhood Disney memories for me.

I don't like IASW, but it was my Grandma's favorite. So, now I just ride it for her.

And being from Indy I like those cars...

I've never been a big Epcot fan. About the only things I like there are Test Track, Soarin, and Honey I shrunk the audience. I guess I'm just a big fan of educational attractions. I'm on vacation!!!! I do like to walk through Worldshow case though, but it's kind of only neat the first time around. I'm a picky eater so, tasting all those other cultures is not really too fun for me.

Oh well...just my 2 cents and then some...

The real disappointment was Stitch's ride. That person should've been fired.

That will never happen. Splash is arguably the most popular ride in all of Disney World.

It needs to be refurbed a bit, but that's all.
