What are your first 3 rides of the day?

A friend who used to be a CM says it closes just after Labor Day for the overlay, then reopens in a week or two. She thought it'd be open again for our trip Sept. 13th.

It's not closing until September this year? (Trying to plan for next year...late August but don't want to miss HM). That would be great if it's opened for your trip. I love the three you mentioned too at Disney World and would love to try them at DL.

According to the past few years, it closes the Monday before Labor Day, and stays down for about two weeks.

At DL we usually end with POC, at DCA with Ariel.

This must be done at park opening, it would never work at middle of the day:

1. Get Fastpass for Hyperspace Mountain, then walk onto Space Mountain!

2. Star Tours!

3. Matterhorn!

4. Go use your Hyperspace Mountain Fastpass!

My family was just discussing this for our upcoming trip. I think we came to the conclusion (of course things could always change on a whim) that we would head straight over to Hyper Space Mountain and get a FP then get inline to ride stand by, afterwards we would head over to the Matterhorn, then more then likely Indy, unless we would be able to get a FP for it by then, then we would get one before heading into the SB line.

For DCA we already know that we are going to head over to Carsland and get a FP for RSR and then immediately get into the SB line there (hopefully do that twice on a EMH morning before our FP time, but not holding our breaths on that one), then from there we would head straight over to Paradise Pier and ride Screamin (hopefully a couple of times), afterwards we would go to TSMM.

Just finished my first trip to Disneyland and LOVED it. We did Extra Magic Hour for both parks, and this is the order we did it in (worked out great for us):

DCA: (Monday May 9, 2016)
1. Luigi's Rollickin Roadsters
2. Radiator Springs Racers
3. Mater's Junkyard Jamboree
^^ Got those all done in well under an hour (RSR wait was about 15 min standby), and managed to get over to Toy Story Midway Mania right after, and the wait was still only 5 minutes!

Disneyland: (Tuesday May 10, 2016)
1. Peter Pan
2. Mr. Toad
3. Alice
4. Matterhorn
5. Pinocchio
6. Snow White
^^ Got all of those done in the first hour! And then ran over to Tomorrowland and grabbed at FP for Space Mountain. Now, I don't know if those results are typical for an Extra Magic Hour/Magic Morning, but we were THRILLED with how well we did! Granted, we lined up at the gates at about 7:15am for an 8am EMH, and were right up at the front by the rope when it dropped.

Anyway, that's my VERY recent first-timer experience, hope that's helpful.

Thank you for posting this. We will be using EMH each morning for both parks too and my DH is convinced that we will be able to get onto RSR a couple of times by using the stand by line before using the FP, I thought he was crazy for thinking it, but after reading your post, I know now that it is very much possible to do it. He would like to do the same for Hyper Space Mountain during EMH (of course that could change ).

Your DL strategy has basically been ours for all of our trips and it has always worked out well.

I'm an AP holder so I visit all the time and usually try to mix up my ride schedule based on my previous visit. However it seems like I'm always drawn to do POC, Haunted Mansion and Jungle Cruise.

If everything is open and not down for refurb, our trips always begin as such:

1. Big Thunder
2. Pirates
3. Splash Mt 2 or 3 times in a row.

Once that's done, we don't worry about anything else!

DCA:

1. RUN to RSR
2. Mater's Junkyard Jamboree
3. Heimlich's Chew Chew Train

Sounds weird, I know, but it's just how we do it!

We usually get FastPasses to Radiator Springs Racers and head back to Disneyland to ride Pirates. It's usually Big Thunder, Splash or Space after that.

We always end with Peter Pan.

Quickly get a FP for Indy. Then strut on over to the pirates, to run amok with them until we get into too much trouble, then haunt the mansion, and after shaking loose some of the ghosts that always try to follow me home, I then partake passage upon one of the jeeps for an excursion through the temple of the forbidden eye, am hoping for the fountain of youth for plastic surgery is pricey man..... oh and I only use the Indy FP if the stand by is out the temple entrance, as in way out man or do SRL.

Here's our usual schema's for starting any particular day of the parks, usually takes up the first 2-3 hours, always rope drop and then grab a snack/bathroom break

DLR Day 1 - Pirates (always our first ride of the trip), Haunted, Splash, Pooh, Thunder (good way to dry off from spash)
DCA Day 2 - RSR, Grab Fast Pass for RSR, Toy Story, Screaming, Soaring, back to Carsland to use Fast Pass depending on time
DLR Day 3 - Peter Pan, Grab Fast Pass Space, Alice, Matterhorn, Star Tours, Space, grab Fast Pass for Indy, Splash
DCA Day 4 - Repeat Day 2
DLR Day 5 MM - Space, Star Tours, Jedi Training Sign Up, Grab Fast Pass for Space, Buzz, Nemo, Matterhorn
