New Security Entrance

Wanted to post earlier but couldn’t find my password. Was in line at the old spot at 6:30 when a guard made us move over to the sorcerer hat. She said it was for hotel guests but she mad everyone move and no cards were checked. This was the only side that opened though. When we came back to the at noon both sides were open.

I know this is going to anger a lot of people but I hope they limit it to hotel guests. We are paying such a premium to stay in their hotels we deserve the perk of having our own dedicated entrance. The Grand Californian and Pixar Hotel have their own entrances surely the Disneyland Hotel, which s super expensive, deserves the same perk.

Thank you for the report!

Unfortunately tonight the “new” (old entrance) was open to everyone. All three DtD entrances/security stops at that end had absolutely insane lines. I’m sure Friday night plus race weekend with the expo at DLH didn’t help anything. It was absolute madness 😵‍💫

Thank you for clarifying for me "new" old entrance, I was wondering if I was losing it, 🤣 I was thinking that new entrance looks just as I have seen it for many years.

I truly don’t know if I just got extremely lucky with being perfectly off peak times, or if something has changed this year compared to the last couple. I have *never* had more than four or five people in front of me at this entrance…

Has Disney re-routed traffic into the downtown Disney or Simba lot from another lot?

Any update on the new / old security entrance by DLH into DTD ?

I see that its open now. Is it for DL Resort Hotel guests only ?

I mean two lines open will help

But also...I rather not have this just for hotel guests. But it will depend on staffing as long as they staff up the normal entrance then whatever I guess

The GCH entrance is open to anyone. I go in and out of that entrance regularly. They may check keys for EE, but that is because the guest is walking directly into the park. Other than for EE, they don't ask if you are a hotel guest.

This

I more get why the Peir one is closed, but they let you exit through it which is pretty valuable still.

I just want what ever system will get everyone in quicker, I know its different now but Walt made this place for all

also the Disneyland hotel for sure get an entrance to Disneyland one day when they open a land behind Splash and at the parking lot near the hotel that will used for disneyforward.

Yes we too have used that entrance to exit and re-enter DCA in order to eat at their restaurants but I think that they should at least have a couple of lines open, especially first thing in the morning, exclusively for hotel guests, then that is a definite perk that would help to compensate for the high room costs at the Disney hotels. I also really really wish they would have a dedicated hotel guest gate at the parks especially for EE days. Our visit in December is the first time we will be eligible for EE and I am so stressed about not being able to get through the turnstiles in time to take advantage of the perk. We have stayed at Hong Kong Disney a couple of times and had a dedicated entrance gate there and it was so great. Oh well we can dream.

The frustrating part is they used to have dedicated turnstiles for EE pre-COVID. I really wish they would bring them back!

I'm curious what percentage of of non hotel guests are walking through security near the DLH at 6:45 am.

Where are these non hotel guests coming from? The parking structure doesn't open until 7 am, so it isn't those guests. A few guests might use the ride share drop off, but I would think they would use the drop off on Harbor over the one near the DLH.

I'm wildly confused by this too. People wouldn't park in the Downtown Disney lot right? That would be crazy expensive. Then if you're parking in the two near by garages, they're running the trams again right? So people wouldn't be walking, they would be taking the tram (and past security already).

There are a lot more hotels along Harbor compared to Disneyland drive... I mean maybe Best Western Plus Pavilions, Stovall's, and the Westin... I would imagine Hilton, Marriott, Sheraton, Residence Inn, Desert Palms etc would go up Harbor...

Are busses from Toy Story lot dropping off in Downtown Disney lot now vs off Harbor? Where are these people coming?

Again, busy as heck last year and even then I had maybe four or five small groups a head of me throughout the day (anytime after 9am, I get late starts, lol) and waited no more than five minutes max...

I believe the concern is non hotel guests going through security when hotel guest are trying to get through for EE. That would be at or before 6:45 am.

The parking structure trams are running and the TS buses drop off near Harbor. The structures and TS don't open until 7 am, so those guests aren't in the security line at 6:45.

Parking in the Stitch lot is $10 for the first hour. One can get an additional 3 hrs with a $20 purchase in DTD and up to 5 hrs if they eat at a table service restaurant. At the rate of $30 for four hours, one might as well park it the structure for $35. The lower two MK include 25% off which brings it down to $26.25 for a full day of parking. Believe MK pay $17.50, and parking is included with Inspire.

Maybe droves of people are coming from the Westin at sunrise. :tiptoe::tiptoe::tiptoe::tiptoe::tiptoe::tiptoe::tiptoe:

I think eventually they are going to make the old security gates near the Sorcerers Hat into a dedicated entrance for DH guests only just like they have created a private entrance into DCA for Pixar Hotel guests. They won't have a specific line at the new entrance for hotel guests right now but hopefully they will upgrade the old one so DL Hotel guest have the same perks as guest at both GCH and Pixar Place. The price per night certainly warrants it.

I am trying to picture this. Doesn't that mean that all of the people streaming in from parking will cross the people streaming in from the hotel? It seems like they should have reversed how they did this and put the dedicated hotel entrance to the right. But maybe I am picturing it wrong.
