What are your favorite cooking shows?

I am currently addicted to America's test kitchen. They have a dozen+ seasons on Amazon Prime. My ex had some of their cookbooks and everything I made from them turned out perfectly. I'm going to have to buy some of their cookbooks for myself.

Sandra Lee's semi homemade

Oh, another good one!!

Yeah, I don't understand why so many cable networks have gone to this format of running the same show all evening; it's not just Food Network...

I've noticed that too. Some of the nostalgia networks and the kids' ones have sort of mini-marathons where they show several episodes on one show on different evenings. I actually kind of like it, though.

For those who don't like the trend on Food Network of more competition shows, have you tried The Cooking Channel? It kind of spun-off for that reason, I think:

I used to watch alot of cooking shows, and loved The Cooking Channel. It used to show old shows too like Julia Child. I have no idea if they do that anymore because Verizon in my area dropped it years ago.

I do liked Chopped but I don't watch it much anymore.

Robert Irvine has a Jerry Springer type show-awful
Oh no! Why would he do that?!

To answer the OP's question, there are a lot of cooking shows I love, both regular and competive.

Farmhouse Rules
Chopped
Chopped Junior
Kids Baking Championship
Master Chef
Master Chef Junior
Great American Baking Championship
Brunch With Bobby
Pioneer Woman
Worst Cooks in America
Great British Baking Championship
Guys Grocery Games
Beat Bobby Flay

Probably more...

I love the Pioneer Women, Ree Drummond. She actually makes food that I'd make for my family.
She is very entertaining and dramatic. I was almost sucked in when she was making Kraft Macaroni and Cheese from the box, and came up with the idea of putting hot dogs in it. Until I remembered my mom did that over 50 years ago.

Toss up here between the Galloping Gourmet with Graham Kerr and the French Chef with Julia Child.
Actually, the Cooking in Concert on PBS with the two of them was amazing.
Kerr of course, unlike his early years, is a health nut.
Julia, however believed the more butter and cream you ate, the longer you would live.
Kerr would put a teaspoon of butter in the pan, and Julia would come up behind him and put the WHOLE stick in.

I was just going to post this! It is truly awful and he should have just stuck with cooking.

I no longer watch Food Network/Cooking channel, but I do watch cooking shows on PBS like America's Test Kitchen, Martha Stewart, etc.

I think my favorites are Cutthroat Kitchen, Worst Cooks in America, Cupcake Wars, Man vs Food, and Chopped.

I tried an episode or two of Pioneer Woman and it really didn't click with me. I have looked at a couple of her recipes on foodnetwork.com and they all just seem so filled with fat. It also sort of annoys me how every episode is an event. It doesn't seem to be about ways to feed your family a normal meal it's hey, it's my FIL's birthday, let's have a party!!! That just irritates me for some reason.

I am the total opposite- not a fan of all of the above but enjoy watching Ree's family events!

Every episode has a theme, and I don't know if she does "party" themes more often than other shows. I never thought about it before. But she has plenty of non-party episodes, too. Like spending the day with one of her children and making his/her favorite dishes. Or making freezer meals. Or recipes that take 16 minutes or less.

I've made several of her recipes, and I think they're among my son's favorites.

I like watching many of the shows already mentioned but just for the competition or to see what strange foods they make.

Now to get actual real food that my family will eat, I can get the ingredients at my local store and healthier at the same time I do you tube or online sites.

I like Emilybites, Drizzleme skinny, and Skinnytaste.

Now we can't see him Jerry Springer restaurants that were so trashy they deserved to close. I've never been to a single one of them. I made a note of their names so as not to go to them. I figure if they served food out of a kitchen that dirty and trashy once.....they might let it go to pot again.

That ^^^^

Many of the actresses cooking shows involve inviting friends over for whatever reason. I get real bored with the awkward chatter. I like the people just don't like the fake parties. You know it's all just for filming purposes.

My 3 favorites (which mostly aren't really 'cooking shows') are 1. Good Eats 2. Chopped and 3. Guys Grocery Games

I enjoy the Cooking Channel and watch Alton Brown every night at 11pm while DH has the news on.

I enjoyed Ina's new show a few months ago. Sandra Lee has been ill, so I don't think she will be back anytime soon. Paula has her internet channel. I use to enjoy Bobby Flay, but lost interest when he got divorced, he just has rubbed me wrong.

I still watch/tape Americas Test Kitchen/Cooks Country and Sarah Moulton on PBS and will watch Pioneer Woman sometimes. I like Andrew Zimmern on the Travel Channel, Michael McKeon on The Cooking Channel, Top Chef on Bravo and Anthony Bourdain on CNN. I consider many of those shows about food and not cooking shows.
