What Are Your Dogs Weird Quirks?

I'm Obi's wife, the one in danger of floating away at night. :lmao: It's weird, I have to have either Tinker or Reilly laying on me at all times. I spend a lot of time bedridden due to an autoimmune disease that has progressed to the point of where I can barely walk. Sometimes I wonder if they know something and are doing this as a comfort to me.

Isn't if funny how intuitive dogs are? They are watching over you to make sure you're OK::yes:: .

I am sending you healing thoughts even though I see you have a few 4 legged angels watching over you.:goodvibes

Petey refuses to leave the bed if I'm having a fibro flare or migraine that keeps me there for the day. The Muffin will try to call, coax, even ORDER him to come outside with him. Nope. Not budging. If he comes and tries to carry him out, Petey scurries under the bed to a place he can't be reached and won't come out. As soon as "daddy" leaves, he hops back up on the bed and curls up right next to me. I don't force him. He once went 2 full days before he finally (reluctantly) let Dh take him outside. He did his doody in record time, made a beeline for the door and sprinted back up the stairs to our room. I think he was airborn from the landing to the bed :lmao:

You also can't take him further than 2 feet away from his "mommy" without him whining like a big baby! :rotfl:

Arrgghh I was SO MAD at him over that and he kept it up the rest of the night too! He whined and cried from his carseat ALL THE WAY HOME :sad2:(He usually settles quickly and goes to sleep) Even after having his ENTIRE chill pill  The same dose knocked me on my butt the first 4 or 5 times but didn't faze him :rolleyes2

Ya gotta admit, he's never been quite THAT bad. Maybe he was having a doggie panic attack :confused3

Hey, I warned you! :lmao:

There are just no words to prepare you for lies ahead, or more aptly, behind that dog when he's gassy :crazy2: :faint:

THAT, is why we bring Obi with us! :thumbsup2 He walks around with us packing an apricot poodle under each arm. :rotfl:

I may have to dig out the baby sling I used when Petey was a puppy if he keeps this up :sad2: I know it's giving in but at least it frees up my hands for shopping :thumbsup2

I'm greedy-I want to hear more dog stories. They make me smile:)

I'm really confused. Shugardraws: are you related to Obi? At first I thought you were the wife that he was talking about, but then MeanLaureen said she was. I think I am having a blonde moment. :confused3

Both of my dogs love snow as well! They hoover it up as they walk. You see their four little paw prints and then this one long furrow from where they suck it up as they go. I keep meaning to tell my landlord to cancel the snow plow and just pay me. My puppies work for kibble! :rotfl:

I forgot to mention one of Mattie's more "endearing" quirks. He loves searching for buried treasure in the litterbox in the kitchen. The opening is too big for a normal gate, so I have one section of those free floating child pens, but he has figured out how to get through it. Needless to say, I do not allow that dog to kiss me. :crazy2:

Ugh. When we had our cat, Tully found the cat box and I see her chewing something. So I start yelling at my DD-"You can't give the dog Tootsie Rolls-she's gonna puke!" Then I realized it wasn't Tootsie Rolls:crazy2:.

Bump-just cause I like to read these stories, so bring 'em on!

When my dog wants something from my husband he will come to me and "talk" and then look at my husband and wait for me to Translate. I guess I speak dog. I do know most of the time what he wants. At night when he would want to go out he would stand at the foot of my bed and "talk" to me if he could not get my husband up. The minute I called my husband's name, he would run over to his side.

I have NO idea what DD21 did to our golden, but when ever anyone makes the raspberry sound (you know...Ppppt) he RUNS! If he can't find me, he hides under the kitchen table. He is absolutely TERRIFIED of that sound!

He is also VERY protective of DD11. She is hard of hearing, and doesn't always hear cars, the door bell, etc. He gets very upset when she is outside and he isn't...he protects her and pushes her out of the street (we live on a 10 house cul de sac in the country- it IS safe to roller blade out of the driveway, but Seamus just can't cop a clue about that!). OTH, he DID eat her hearing aid once....but burped it up. Cost $250 to fix, but that was considerably cheaper than a new hearing aid!!!!!

Seamus also loves snow, can open the sliding glass door, and lets loose with the silent and deadly (especially after getting into the cat food). And, he talks- just like the dog on the beans commercial.

Our hound, Lilly Puppy, is smart. When she is cold she nudges my DH and tries to get him to let her outside. When he takes her down the stairs, she turns and runs and gets into his warm spot in the bed. Of course, it is usually 2 am and he just grumbles and goes to the couch. SHE wins! IF she needs to pee- she wakes ME up! You'd think DH, a PhD animal scientist, would be able to figure this behavior out. Lilly is 9....guess DH is a little slow!

The highlight of the dog's day is the trip to the bus stop....either walking (or by car in this snowy and cold weather), they get so wound up in the morning it is just ridiculous. Guess when you are a dog it is that head out the window (at 15 mph) that makes your day!

Seamus' best trick is just being silly ol Seamus.....cousin to Marley (I swear) and ingestor of all that shouldn't be eaten. Lilly is our little abuse case- afraid of her own shadow but trying so very hard to be brave. But we love Seamus and his side kick, Lilly puppy the traumatized hound. They make quite the pair!

:rotfl: MeanLaureen is my wife. :) Shugardrawers and she are best friends in real life. They met here on the DIS about 4 yrs ago? and it was like they knew each other all their lives. I'm just the designated chauffeur/shopping cart pusher/poodle sitter ;)

:rotfl: DH calls himself the designated poop picker upper!

My dog loves the the babies poopie diapers-can't leave them in the bathroom garbage.:crazy2:

Kona (the black and tan dog in my sig) likes to nibble things. He loves to lick your eyes and he will nibble as he does it. He began nibbling the cat after our collie passed away in September. The poor cat always had a bunch of scabs on his neck where he had been nibbled. Since we got our other puppy Kali (white and tan in picture) he nibbles her instead of the cat. I am tempted to spray her with Bitter Apple to keep him from doing it but don't want her not to be able to lick herself.

Kali loves to chase the laser pointer. My husband plays his x-box every morning and he usually plays with the cat between games. The cat knows the sound of the end of the game and comes and waits for the laser. Now Kali does the same thing. The poor cat can't play with the laser anymore because the dogs have taken over. It's really cute to see them just sitting there staring at my husband until he gets the pointer. They know the sound the laser pointer makes when it is picked up also and will come running from anywhere in the house.

I work nights so I sleep during the day. Every day between 1:30pm and 2pm Kona wakes me up. He doesn't want to go out, he wants me to get up! I have to go sleep on the couch for a few hours because he is relentless if I get back in the bed. Once I get on the couch, he'll get on the couch and be completely happy.

They are both so cute when I get home in the mornings they make little screaming noises and jump up and down and are just overjoyed to see me. Of all the dogs we have had these 2 definitely celebrate the most. It's like they haven't seen me in years and are just delighted to be in my presence.
