What Are Your Dogs Weird Quirks?

My dog Casey loved the hair dryer. As soon as you turned on the hair dryer she would come running from wherever she was and she would stand up and put her front paws on the top of sink (she was a shepard/retreiver mix so she was a nice size dog) and then you had to blow dry her face! And she'd howel while you did it! If you took it off her and tried to do your own hair she'd start barking until it was turned back on her. Needless to say it took a long time to blow dry my hair so if I was in a hurry I would put her outside until I was done.

Casey the DIVA!

Our Golden, Seamus, also is a talker. He is also VERY particular about where you are rubbing/scratching him. If he doesn't like the spot you have chosen, he gently takes your hand in his mouth and moves it to HIS spot. I love bugging him by moving my hand back each time....then he starts moaning and groaning and gives me his evil eye look.

He also has a bad habit of immediately eviscerating his toys- gotta get that squeaker OUT. Then he drags the "carcass" of the stuffed toy around. If you try and throw it out, he retrieves it. We have a whole basket of "carcasses" that are his "favorites". Sometimes at night he gets off the bed (yes, DH and my bed- all 90 pounds of him) and gets his toys and lays them in a circle around him on the floor. Takes an extra 5-10 minutes to wrangle them away and get them back in the basket in the morning. Oh, and his preferred sleeping position is on his back with all 4 feet in the air!

Our hound is afraid of everything, and not so quirky. She has a thing for blueberries- once ate a whole blueberry pie. She also hides Seamus' toys in her crate (he isn't allowed in there- she growls at him) when she is mad at him. Pretty funny watching her lay on our bed and growl when he approaches her crate- then he whines at us to help him out. I swear those two are worse than the kids! Couldn't live without them, though!!!

Dash is a very quirky dog, he fits perfectly with us! ;)

He is a whiner, whenever he gets a new treat (bone, something in his kong, etc...) he will walk around for 20 minutes with it in his mouth and just whine. We tell him to just eat it, but for some reason he has to whine for awhile first :confused3

He sits funny, almost human like most of the time.

He is not a snuggle dog at all, he almost has the personality of a cat, kind of aloof. When you call him over to you, he will look at you and it's almost like he is wondering if what you are offering to him is worth him walking over for.

He doesn't like to be ignored though when he does want attention, he will drop his toys on your feet over and over and make this low growl bark noise to get your attention. If you continue to ignore him, he will go do something that he knows will get our attention, like grab a stuffed animal and then run by us with it.

He will play with his tug-of-war toy alone sometimes, he holds one end and tosses his head around so that the toy flies all over the place, it is hilarious to watch.

He loves veggies! I cannot ever chop veggies without him running into the kitchen and begging for a bite, he especially loves broccoli and carrots. Fruit is OK too, but he loves veggies.

There's probably a ton of other things he does, but I can't think of anymore at this moment. Here's a pic of him sitting and another of him enjoying the sun, he loves to lay out in the sun.

ETA: Thought of another one, when he wants you to put a treat in his kong he will drop it from the top of the stairs so it rolls all the way down to the bottom.

Super cute! Ilove JRTs. Tully plays catch with herself outside.(I think it's just a ploy though-you know to make me feel bad for not playing with her)

Our dog knows she's not allowed to finish off the half-and-half until the cat has had his fill, so she hangs over the cat and patiently waits, and waits, and waits until the cat is done. I swear the cat teases her because he'll spend 5 minutes settling himself in front of the bowl and another 5 minutes rubbing his head against the bowl before he starts drinking. Our dog is so patient! The photo is of her patiently waiting for the cat to finish. :)

My dog gets up and leaves the room when someone farts but only if she hears it.

When our little lady goes "outisde" in winter, she nudges a little bit of snow over it with her nose. I guess she likes the yard to be all white. Heheheheheee

We had a turtle for a while. Over night after we would clean his aquarium, he would gather all the bright colored glass rocks and put them in a pile. Sometimes, though rarely, the pile was sorted into many piles by seperate color! Can a turtle be anal?

I wear slippers or crocs around the house. My french bulldog Eloise always steals one when I am in the shower. Only one.:confused3 Then, I get to play what room did Eloise put my shoe in? Only one of her many, many quirks.

when my 3 yo GS was a pup, she didn't like getting her paws dirty. She would wash them in the other dog's water bowl. When I switched to them having a auto fill water bowl, she realized she couldnt wash her paws anymore.
She is now lyng on my DD10's bed, on her back, she likes to be comfortable.

Here is something kind of odd. I had to have my other dog put down at the age of 10 a couple months ago. He was her big brother and she took her lead from him. He helped her to learn to sit at the door to go outside. He would bark if someone is at the door.
Well the other day someone came to ther door and she just looked at me as if to say aren't you going to bark?

My other dog who passed loved sunbathing in winter, all up on the deck. he liked the hair dryer, getting a bath not so much, but heloved the hair dryer.
he could also be asleep in another part of the house and he would hear someone unwrap the bread wrapper and he was there in a flash. And i sure miss him coming into the kitchen.

I thought I'd start a fun-non opinionated thread:rolleyes1 .

What funny quirky things does your dog do?

My dog Tully has a few.:)

1) She "talks" to you if she's not getting enough attention with low growls in different tones, getting louder until you acknowledge her.

2) When she wants to go out she gets her favorite toy and parades around with it in front of you.

3)She loves to play a soccer with DD

4) And the gross one :sad2: she has a terrible obsession with her butt.

Spending hours and extreme amounts of energy and flexibility trying to bend herself in half to get the perfect angle to stare at (and worse) her bum:confused3 .

But I guess that one isn't to original:rotfl: .

SO you're turn what are your dogs' quirks? And feel free to post a pic of your pooch(es).:)

Hey, Is that the free lambie from Bath and Body Works your dog has? That is sooo funny. I used my free coupon specifically to get that lamb for my dog. She loves it. Your dog is so cute. Maggie will do the growling/barking thing if I don't pay any attention to her. When she wants to go outside to "pee pee" she sits near the front door and just stares at me. She doesn't make a sound, but just stares. :thumbsup2 Ya gotta love em!!!

Wet feet. He actually will not go out into the backyard if it's been raining. Which in turn means, I have to put on the rain boots and rain coat and walk him. Yes I have a pretty boy for a dog. Don't get me started on the vacum cleaner, it's scared him since he was a puppy.

My Plecos rearrange the fish tank. So I guess quirks also apply to fish. I never know where the plants are going to be when I put on the light.

Whenever our Golden, Molly, gets fed she takes about three pieces of her kibble out of the bowl, brings them into the living room and puts them on her dog bed. Then she goes back and eats the rest of the food out of the bowl. It's almost like she's saving them for a snack for later!

She also likes to sleep with her leash. After her walk I'll put the leash on the radiator cover near the back door. At some time during the day she'll go over and get the leash, drag it to her dog bed, curl up and go to sleep with it.

Our dog loves Neosporin??? She will eat a whole tube if she finds it.

She does not like tobaggons, if our kids have one on their head, she will tackle them to the ground and steal it.

Right now, she has gas. :sad2:

My pooch sophie (huge black lab) sleeps in bed with me. Well she doesnt just jump on the bed she will slowly craw on it. Now my bed is just a bed and a boxspring, so my little doxie can use the puppy steps. So its no problem for her to jump. She just prefers the element of surprise!!!Now if she's gotten off the bed and then decideds to come visit in the middle ofthe night..it scares me half to death.
Her(sophie) and my doxie (Eddie Murphy Cullen ) are my avitar :D arnt they cute

We started off when our puppy was very young, wiping his feet and butt before he was allowed in the house (with baby wipes). He now stands at the door and waits to be "cleaned up" before he will come in.:thumbsup2 Darn smart dog if you ask me, I raised him right!:)

DD11 made her into a princess one day.
My dog smiles, when we come home and she is excited to see us she will smile (it is a little freaky)
I have tried to get a picture of her smiling, but I just can't get one.

Sorry this picture is so big

If anyone has a guess at what kind of dog she is let me know. We have been trying to guess since we adopted her 5years ago from the animal shelter, we got her when she was about 7 weeks old and they told us she was part beagle. WTH??? there is no beagle in her the vet thinks some kind of terrier.

We used to have a Dobie that did it and it was a full teeth out smile. He used to do especially when he got caught doing a no-no. We had a lot of trouble convincing people he was being friendly-lol.

That is the same thing she does she shows all of her teeth.

It's called a submissive smile. Our lab mix does it too. I know what you mean about convincing people she's not going to take a hunk out of them.
