What Are You Reading Right Now? Part II (Incomplete book list in 1st post)

I've read many of her books and always enjoyed her. The book that got me really hooked was "Changing Habits". However, I love any of her books in the Cedar Cove series if you think you might want to read more than one. I can't remember the name of the first in the Cedar Cove series, but I find it helps to read those in order.

Aha-I looked it up and the first is "16 Lighthouse [road?]" and the second is a street that starts with a 2.

Thanks for the suggestion! I'll look into the Cedar Cove series. Also thanks Kirby for suggesting the Blossom Street series. Looks like I'll have quite a bit of reading to do!

I bought my son Sh*t My Dad Says by Justin Halpern for Christmas. I've been reading it this week, it's a short book. While it's not outrageously funny, there are quite a few places that make me smile and chuckle. I've been watching the sitcom based on the book so everytime I read something the father says, I see and hear William Shatner in my head.

Sorry to butt in..but I wanted to tell you that I have also read "The Red Tent"...and I thought it was a very good book.

I just finished Dicken's A Christmas Carol, one of those books I thought I had read.
I've started The Host by Stephenie Meyer and enjoying it more than the Twilight series; in their case I preferred the movies with minimal Bella whining page after page after page...

Did you enjoy The Host? It was not what I was expecting at all and that's probably why I enjoyed it so much.

I am now reading The Problems with Billionaires by Linda McQuaig. I love her stuff and this is another great book. It's non-fiction - she writes about economics, not a topic I'm normally interested in at all - but she makes it very accessible, clear and logical.

I was searching under historical fiction on Goodreads.com and I saw that book. Years ago, someone recommended it to me and when I saw it again, I recalled that recommendation.

It has me interested in reading a little Genesis to learn what the Bible has to say about Isaac, Rebecca, Jacob and his wives.

My son had a favorite book back in elementary school about a panther. It involved a boy and possibly his brother. And I think there was snow.

Sound familiar to anyone? I'd ask the librarian at the school he went to but it's been about 10 years since he was there and the librarian has retired.

I just finished Incidents in the Life of a Slave Girl Written by Herself by Harriet Ann Jacobs.
It's a heart-wrenching first hand account of an actual slave girl's life. Once I got into the story, I could not put it down. This was a free book on my Kindle

I read Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Rodrick Rules AND Home: A Memoir by Julie Andrews today, I liked them both! DOAWK books are really funny and super quick to read, and I love Julie Andrews and would recommend her book to anyone that likes her or memoirs

Probably going to start The Dead Tossed Waves tomorrow, the sequel to The Forest of Hands and Teeth

Did you enjoy The Host? It was not what I was expecting at all and that's probably why I enjoyed it so much.

I also really enjoyed it much more so than the Twilight series. Twilight was really her first significant work, and she probably boxed herself in, to some extent, which didn't allow the later books to be much better than the earlier books. The Host was later, and stand-alone, and was fantastic.

I'm currently reading some fluff, Kindle freebie Phenomenal Girl 5. I purchased World Without End, and will start reading that in a few days I suspect.

I've read The Host also. I enjoyed it for the most part but found some parts to drag a little. It was a good storyline though. Not what I expected.

Seems to get good reviews but I normally don't read sad books - mystery yes but sad - read for entertainment not to be depressed.

I didn't find it sad. Eye opening, yes. I enjoyed it, but some have felt it didn't live up the hype.
