Got a Kindle for Christmas and have spent the last two days loading up on books...free ones mostly. Did some damage on some kindle Amazon bargain books as well.

The one-click button on Amazon is evil...pure evil. :rotfl2:

I'm currently reading Telex from Cuba. Bought it in a bargain bin at Barnes & Noble.

Same here. That one click is a trip! I love it.

I am reading Breaking the Bank in paperback and The Potluck Club book 1 on the kindle. I'm scatterbrained and usually have 2 going at once.

I just got a bunch of Amazon gift cards so my Kindle will be filled with new books soon. I'm going to start Water for Elephants tonight!

I read this book a couple months ago and LOVED it. It was one of those books that you read and it automatically becomes one of your favorites. I hope you like it as much as I did! I can't wait to see the movie adaptation :)

I second what Kristina said. It's a book you just want to discuss when you've read it!

Last night I finished Last Night at the Chateau Marmont by Lauren Weisberger. Today, I start The Red Tent by Anita Diamont.

How did you like Chateau Marmont? I had it in my hands to read and took it back to the library because I wasn't sure.

I just started reading Playing the Game by Barbara Taylor Bradford.

It really held my interest. I thought that the way it was written was reminiscent of Devil Wears Prada... primarily because the story was well fabricated and the characters were developed better than those in Chasing Harry Winston and Everyone Worth Knowing.

Of course, the primary theme is the same in all of her books... getting everything you've dreamed of and finding out that it isn't really what you want.

I'd recommend this one. Oh, and the funny thing is, the first time I had it out of the library, I never got to it either because I wasn't sure about it. I'm glad I took it out a second time.

Thanks for the heads up. I guess I will give it another try.

I've added a bunch of these books to my wish list for future reference. I LOVE having that feature for the Nook because I never remember what people recommend :lmao:

I am reading "Syndrome". It was a free Nook book a while back. It is ok, it tends to drag on but it is moving along again.

I am reading Darkfever from Karen Marie Moning. It was a free book from Barnes and Noble on my Nook and it is really good!

I am reading Elixir by Hilary Duff. I'm about halfway and its kept my interest so far, so we'll see!

By Rick Riordan? Looking forward to reading that one too. Did you read The Red Pyramid? I liked it, but it was nowhere near as good as The Percy Jackson series ...

Yes! Rick Riordan. I felt the same way about "The Red Pyramid". The premise was there, but it just never lived up to the expectation. I finished "The Lost Hero" yesterday, and it was FABULOUS!!! I can't wait for the next installment!! It was so well written, and followed along with the Percy Jackson series. Loved it!!!

I finished "The Lost Hero." Wonderful book!!!

I tried "Angelica", but it just didn't appeal to me, at all. I'm now trying "The Egyptologist." It's by the same author as Angelica, but I'm hoping for a better plot!

I just started reading 'World Without End' after finishing 'Pillars of the Earth'. I finally broke down and bought Pillars after thinking for so long that it wasn't my type of novel (I generally stick to mysteries/thrillers). I am SO GLAD I read this book. Ken Follet is not a great writer; however he is a wonderful storyteller and I was totally mesmerized by the lives of the characters and what life was like in England during the Middle Ages. I highly recommend this to anyone - even those who, like me, would assume a 1000-page novel about cathedral building in medieval England would be one huge snore-fest.

I was just browsing this thread for some ideas. I also generally stick to mysteries/thrillers, but I'm going to give this a try. thanks for the recommendation! I'm downloading to my iPad right now.

ETA: I'm starting with "Pillars of the Earth"

I started Shopaholic Takes Manhattan last night, only about 60 pages into it. I hope its better than the first one, I know someone on here said that they get better as they go :)
