WDW and Universal. Who wins?

I guess I am just not sufficiently discriminating, but I had a great time at SFNE when I went.

It's also worth pointing out that an amusement park is not a theme park. They have many elements in common, and there are some that straddle the boundary (SF Fiesta Texas comes to mind), but they are not trying to be the same thing.

I happen to like amusement parks and theme parks. I'm an equal-opportunity fun seeker. And when it comes to amusement parks, SFNE has a pretty good lineup. Superman, in particular, is fantastic. That drop into the tunnel is a thing!

coasters are all legit at that park, outside of that it's borderline carnival levels. It was definitely better when i was a kid (although it may have been i was too young to care or pay enough attention)

And now we can be free of the disaster that is Six Flags America. Closing at the end of 2025 season.

I should've known this was happening sooner when I was in the car the other day and the radio was playing an advert for Six Flags Great Adventure over in NJ and not SFA. I knew this would happen after the merger because this park is a dump. Can't say I'll miss it tbh. Hershey is a way better park and worth the 1 1/2-2 hour drive.

.....also dang just realized the last post here was from August 2024 LOL

New Six Flags Corporate probably didn’t even have to enter the parking lot before deciding to sell it off.

Ask anyone that lives in the area and they'll tell you it's a dump. Everyone goes to King's Dominion or Hershey.
Yep, the only thing keeping it afloat was Hurricane Harbor. Since Hershey added the Boardwalk area and has continued to expand it, even less reason to set foot in SFA.

My wife and I did a universal only trip last time ( in 23) but this time we're just doing Disney ( first week in oct this year )
I'm hoping EU will pull some of the crowds from Disney since it will be the shiny new toy.
That said, we love both.

Just went to Epic Universe last week. It's a beautiful park and I can't wait to return in two weeks for a longer visit. However, I don't think it can overtake Disney at this time. If anything, it will overtake the other two Universal parks since the target audience is exactly the same.

Coming from someone with an admitted bias towards Disney, not for me.

Now with Epic, it has become more of a worthy side trip to Universal than a World beater. At the same time, I now will feel virtually no pull to go to the other two Universal parks.

Looking forward to checking out Epic this fall. As a side trip 🙂

I would not plan a day at Epic from late spring to early fall. There’s a good chance there will be lightning, and more than half the rides will shut down, and the few remaining attractions will have very long lines.

First quarter of financial results with Epic Open vs the same quarter of 2024:

Universal Global Theme Parks revenue up 18.9%, Income up 4.1%

Disney Global Theme Parks Revenue up 9%, income up 16%

And since Disney provides splits of data, Disney Domestic Parks revenue up 10% and income up 22%

It would certainly seem a rising tide lifts all boats, shouldn't be a surprise since the same happened when HP opened.
