What Are You Celebrating?? Air Conditioning!! A July 2010 TR UPDATE 12/11 p24

I'm in too! I always love to read TR's from fellow MN Disney nuts! I'm in Savage - with a 20 minute ride to the airport you must be close to me!

Happy belated birthday! I love the state fair too!

What good book are you reading? I'm always looking for suggestions.
I'm reading Nineteen Minutes by Jodi Picoult. It's pretty interesting, lots of twists and turns (she does that in every book I've read of hers).

Here is the link to "State Fair" from imdb.com (internet movie date base). It takes place at the Iowa State Fair.

IMDB-State Fair
I'll have to check that out.

i am in. Can't wait to hear more - happy belated birthday
:welcome: and thanks!!

That's me, a MN Disney nut!!! I'm 20 minutes on the other side in Oakdale!
Thanks for the b-day wishes. It's been good despite the number associated with it. Which I am just ignoring.
Have to read a few minutes before my parents show up for dinner!

Alright, I just looked it up...it was Iowa. :thumbsup2

Thanks!! ha!!!
And ya'll are dang lucky if you are only 20 min from the airport!!! we are about 45 min from the tiny connector airport, and we are a little over an hour and a half to Houston Intercontinental!!!!! Of course, by the time you drop your luggage curb side and park, then get to the security lane....2 hours!!!!! GEEZ!!!!!

Sheree, you forget, I live in the Deep South. We don't find anything unusual about deep frying anything we can get our hands on and dip into a boiling vat of oil! :lmao::rotfl::rotfl2: All of it sounds delicious!!!

Sheree - How did I miss the start of your TR! And what a great start it is! Really enjoying your trip so far. Your girls are adorable and I can't wait to hear how the beach part of your trip went. That's a nice long trip to the beach!

Looking forward to more. popcorn::

I'm a bit late, but HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!

And a riddle: What do you get when you combine fried oreos and the Himalayan fair ride?

You don't really want to know, but let's just say it involves cleaning the van's floormats.

A little warning to everyone!

Thanks!! ha!!!

That's one of the things I love about where we live. It's suburban, practically rural (Farms are down the road), but in 20-30 minutes I can be in downtown St. Paul or Minneapolis. The only place it takes a long time to drive to is WDW!

:rotfl:Oh, it is! They have now deep fried twinkies, snickers ...the list goes on!

Hi Mary Ellen!!! Glad you made it - I'm just getting going. Thank you - I think the girls are pretty cute too. They're getting a few inches of hair chopped off today - their choice!
The beach was fabulous (for the most part!) It was really relaxing.

 Have some experience with the oreos did you? (I sound like Yoda!)
Thanks for the b-day wishes. It was really nice.

 I'm imagining a really long stick with ALL of that stuff on it!
:lmao:That would be something!! And probably dangerous on a number of levels.

I will update later today (have to get going to shop and haircuts) but I had to share a funny story.

Sarah took a shower and Paige wanted to wait and get a bath. So when Sarah's done, she goes to do some chores. Paige gets out of the tub (finally) and is up at the top of the stairs with her towel, and says "Mom, I don't think I'm ever going to get my butt dry."
Then Sarah goes to the bottom of the stairs and just looks at Paige standing there with her towel. Paige says:

It's not a show Lady!

:rotfl::lmao::rotfl2:

I just about spit all over the computer!!!! I laughed a belly laugh for a good 5 minutes. I said I'm going to remember that one and Sarah said, that should be easy to remember!!
Then I told Paige - you know I'm going to post that on the DIS boards, don't you!? That was just too funny! I'm still laughing!!

I have to go clean up and get going. I'll have to update later today. I want to show you all the Beach Club and tell you about our first night! (I haven't done that yet, right?)

Thanks!! ha!!!

Shawna and Sheree--I just read and article that rated the top airports in the US. #1, Houston; #2, Orlando; #3, Minneapolis St. Paul! :goodvibes See, Sheree, you should always fly to WDW!

DH took this on the ME bus.

All right, we've arrived at the Beach Club!!!

That's us by the ME bus stop sign!

We had been in the BC before - on our December trip we toured the resorts with Christmas decorations. That's when we fell in love with BC!
We walked in, looked for Teena, but were pretty sure she wasn't going to be there. We were instead greeted by another lovely lady (whose name I did not note). She welcomed us and asked if we'd done on-line check in. We had not, since I really wanted a full balcony and I thought if I don't get it, I can ask to be switched. We only waited for one other guest and then we checked in. The CM wasn't 100% sure if it was a full balcony or not, so we figured we'd just find out for ourselves. Turns out our room was ready, so we got our packet and headed up to room 4610 on the 4th floor. It was a standard room and we had a really lovely courtyard view looking toward the villas.
We had brought our swim suits in our carry on bags, and decided to head to the pool. We had not been in the room but 5 minutes, and our luggage arrived! (To be honest, I can't remember for sure - it may have been after the pool when we came back to the room, but I don't think so).
We didn't really unpack much at that point, as we wanted to get to the pool! So we headed down to the Beach Club Marketplace, got our mugs (we were on DxDP, so it was included) and headed to Stormalong Bay!!
I'll post more pictures of Stormalong later, I don't think we brought the camera down this time. In any event, we were wandering around, checking out the different areas, and swimming for all of a half an hour, and they kicked everyone out of the pool area because of a thunderstorm!! Dang it!
So we spent some time wandering around the resort and I called my parents to let them know we'd arrived.
Here's some room pictures (this was a standard room):

Views from the balcony coming up...

Some days I cannot stand photobucket!!! That resizing thing just doesn't want to work right for me!
Oh well - here are the views from our balcony:

Looking through the trees to the left on the last picture is where the solarium is (I think!). I got so turned around direction wise! Whatever it is, it is toward the front of the resort (parking lot side). Sorry the pictures look a little fuzzy - I think it was fog from the humidity.

Here's some lobby pictures - they were moving some furniture and stuff around and replacing some things while we were there.

I think they moved this big round thing out while we were there.

Looking out back toward the lake. Doesn't look like it's raining! I'm not sure it actually rained at BC, but if they hear thunder or spot lightning within like, 10 miles!, they will clear the pool.

In the hall way between BC and YC, they have these great sand sculptures framed on the wall. See my reflection?

We had a lot of time to kill before our ADR at Captain's Grille, so we walked around the property. We stopped at the concierge desk because we had a phone message that we should pick up our tickets to the Spirit of Aloha Luau for the next night. So I went and was chatting with the CM. She showed the girls the book of pins she had (no trades were made) and I asked about what the chances were of a rainout. She offered to make another ADR for me just in case! So we booked the Grand Floridian Cafe for 6:15, which would give us time to get there from the Poly (the luau was to start at 5:15) or to cancel it if we didn't need it. She was super nice! She offered us Jiko (which is also 2 TS, but since we planned to go to Boma and I thought that would be adventurous enough for my family, we declined. But it was nice to know that there were all those options available.

Up next, tempting fate with dinner at Captain's Grille! Was it as bad as Kevin from the DIS Unplugged Podcast said his experience was??

Holy smokes!! I am gluuuued!! You know I have been just dying to get this restaurant review!!!! Love your room and view...we are standard booked too, so hopefully we get a little of it all view wise...and not just the roof!! I cant wait for our BC stay...just 77 days!!!

Loved the update with your arrival at the BC! And all the fantastic photos of your room and the resort. Waiting with anticipation for your report from Captain's Grille. We went there on our first night at the BC this year, too.

Please don't keep us waiting too long! ;)

I am dying laughing over Paige's "It's not a show, lady!" comment!!! :lmao::rotfl::rotfl2:

Oh my goodness! I love all of your Beach Club pictures!!! :lovestruc We thought it was a lovely resort when we parked there this summer, so I really think we are going to try and stay there next time!
