What Are You Celebrating?? Air Conditioning!! A July 2010 TR UPDATE 12/11 p24

I just discovered that you started your TR! :yay: Great start, sounds familiar (says the fellow Minnesotan that recognizes the snack selection on your airline ;)). I can't wait to hear all about the BC, since we stay there for the first time in November. :woohoo: And happy birthday! :cake: Sounds like you had a good time out at the fair. :thumbsup2 (I need a food-on-a-stick smilie...here you go: :mickeybar) Looking forward to more! popcorn::
I think I must have snuck my first post by you, since I didn't see a response.

Anyway, just wanted to say that I love the Beach Club photos! Looks so nice. Glad you got your balcony. Can't wait to see the Stormalong Bay pictures later!

"It's Not a Show Lady"! :rotfl2: That is too funny.

Your BC room is beautiful. Nice view. Looks perfect.

I love the BC lobby. So inviting yet relaxing. Sorry you weren't able to go right to the pool, but the beach looks pretty darn relaxing.

Lovely pictures!

Holy smokes!! I am gluuuued!! You know I have been just dying to get this restaurant review!!!! Love your room and view...we are standard booked too, so hopefully we get a little of it all view wise...and not just the roof!! I cant wait for our BC stay...just 77 days!!!
It's coming, be patient!! I really think we lucked out with that room.
Loved the update with your arrival at the BC! And all the fantastic photos of your room and the resort. Waiting with anticipation for your report from Captain's Grille. We went there on our first night at the BC this year, too.
You will have to tell me what you thought of CG too! I really loved how beautiful the resort was. I felt very comfortable there, unlike when we stayed at BLT in December.

That is too funny!!! I can totally see and hear Paige saying that!! :lmao:

I am very much falling in love with the Beach Club right now!!! I love the room design - so bright and airy!! Nat has her little heart set on the Poly for her b-day next year so, Poly it will be!!! :) I too am very excited to hear about your experience at Captain's Grille!!! Please don't keep us waiting too long! ;)
Yeah, I keep chuckling about Paige. She always has a funny line.
Beach Club was just great - it really felt good to stay there. You'll have to put it on your list!
I will get the CG review up soon - maybe even tonight if Photobucket cooperates!

I am dying laughing over Paige's "It's not a show, lady!" comment!!! :lmao::rotfl::rotfl2:

Oh my goodness! I love all of your Beach Club pictures!!! :lovestruc We thought it was a lovely resort when we parked there this summer, so I really think we are going to try and stay there next time!
Paige is like Connor - always keeping me laughing!!
Isn't BC pretty?? You would love it - very close to the GG slushie stand!!

OOps, I know I read your response! Don't you love the Delta snacks. They can keep them and let me fly one bag for free instead!
BC is really pretty - I just loved looking around. Stormalong Bay is just huge, cool, amazing ... I hope I got some good pictures, I haven't really looked at them much. If not, I know Wigd took some! HA!

Lovely pictures!

Yup, that's my kid. I'm wracking my brain trying to figure out where she may have heard something like that.
I LOVED our room. It was just wonderful, quiet, great view, spacious...I just loved the resort all around. I really hope to stay there again - maybe using our DVC points for a villa!!!

We had a 6:15 ADR at the Captain's Grille. We were probably early and were seated right away.
We had a nice server and he explained the DxDP to us right away. Of course, I was pretty clear on it. But, we were each allowed to order the appetizer called the Captain's Tasting for Two, which surprised me. I figured since it was "for two" we could only get one.
In any event, both DH and I ordered it. It included Carmelized Oninon Tart, Buttermilk Fried Shrimp and Seared Beef Bruschetta. I didn't get a shot before we started eating, so here's what was left when I remembered. The top is the onion tart, the shrimp (mostly gone on that little white spoon) and at the bottom is the bruschetta. It was sort of covered with a salad green (arugula I think) - a bit much). The shrimp was not your typical fried shrimp. It had some bit of sauce on it. My favorite was the onion tart. We both really liked it all. DH scraped off the greens and ate the steak bruschetta without them.

For our entrees:
DH had the NY Strip - he said it was kind of tough. It came with herb-roasted potatoes, seasonal vegetables and red onion jam. The "green stuff" did not get eaten.

I ordered the Snow Crab Legs with New Potatoes and Corn on the Cob. I also ordered the suggested wine - Sauvingon Blanc.
The server took a little while to remember my wine, but he brought it in time for me to drink it with my meal for the most part. It also took him a few minutes after I got the meal to bring me crab crackers. I'd been trying to crack them with my hands at first. I enjoyed the crab legs and melted butter (duh). Paige ate my corn.

Sarah ordered her first of many chicken nuggets/strips and fries. Paige ordered the cheese pizza. Apparently I did not take any pictures of these meals, but rest assured, they ordered them again, so there are probably pictures of them from some other restaurant!!
For dessert, both girls got ice cream sundaes.

DH and I both had the double chocolate cheesecake with fruit. It was really good, however I did have an "issue" of sorts with the presentation. Look at this picture and tell me that the "decoration" with the sauces does not look appetizing - particularly the chocolate.
DSCN2062.jpg

I mean really, you couldn't do a pretty swirl with the chocolate? You had to WIPE it across the plate??? EEEWWW.
Good thing the fruit was fresh and the cheesecake was yummy!
Our server was a nice young man, and although he had a few delays, was really pleasant. We really had no big issues at this restaurant, although DH might not order the NY Strip again, we would eat there again. But I will try Cape May Cafe for dinner if we stay at BC/YC again first!

As we were leaving, I took the picture of the sign and must have made some comment about looking at the menu again or something. The hostess asked me if I wanted a menu to take with me!! So I now have my very own copy of the CG menu! It helped me remember what was in our app!
The CG also offers the Chef's choice CG Experience where you can pick an appetizer, entree and desserf from 3 or 4 of each for $27.99 (no substitutions) which would be good if you want an app and are on the regular DDP.

So on our full stomachs, we decided we'd head back to the room, change into our suits and try the pool again! We found the little slide off of the pirate ship facing the lagoon - it was practically deserted and the girls loved it!

At first, Paige made one of us stand at the bottom of the slide to catch her. The water at the bottom is about 3 feet deep, so no catching was really necessary except in her mind. Eventually she was able to manage it on her own. This little pool was a lot of fun, really relaxing for us, rarely crowded. The steps up to the right of the slide lead up to the "big" slide that goes down from the pirate ship into the main pool. We didn't try that one - it's partially enclosed and drops out into deeper water, so the kids were a little apprehensive of that.
We got out of the pool and walked out of that area onto the beach right to the campfire! They handed out sticks and marshmallows (a baggie of about 4 -6) for roasting. At about 9 the movie on the beach was starting. A few people set out towels, or dragged beach chairs over in front of this cool outdoor inflatable screen. We stood off to the side for a minute, but didn't feel like sitting and watching. The movie was Fox and the Hound. A classic! I love it when Copper says, "I'm a hound dog!" We were just too tired, and were planning an early morning, so we headed back to the room just after 9.
We could hear Illuminations, and I went out to the balcony, but couldn't see anything. Of course, I had no idea which way I was looking! Just couldn't get my bearings when I was in the room (until about our last day when I finally figured it out and looked at a map!)

Tomorrow - am EMH at Magic Kingdom, the first big surprise for the girls, trying out a new ride and sweating it out!!!

thanks for the review!!! I think we are gonna still go for it!! I have just heard not to go if we were in a hurry!! And I love Fox and the Hound too...I remember going to the show and watching it when I was a little girl!!!

Hey Sheree- great update. Love the pictures of CG and the kiddie pool/slide at SAB. We liked our meal there, too. DH got the Grilled Rib-Eye, I had the crab legs, DS-11 got the NY strip and DS-9 ordered chicken nuggets, which he declared to be the best ever. He declared several chicken nuggets as the best ever throughout the trip (the ones at Liberty Inn/AA at EPCOT received high praise too). We all liked the meal, and the restaurant was really quiet (not crowded), which was great for an arrival night meal. The desserts were the biggest disappointment for us- they didn't blow us away.

Look forward to your report at MK and the other parks!

MMmmmm, those crab legs look SO good. Yum!! Overall it doesn't seem like it was a bad meal. You are right about the cheesecake, it doesn't look very pretty when the chocolate sauce looks wiped on. Ew.

Loved the banter between the girls from yesterday morning. Ahhh, kids! :rotfl:

Dinner looks pretty tasty although I will admit the presentation on the cheesecake is a bit odd! Glad it tasted good, though!

Yeay for getting to try out Stormalong Bay! It always looks like so much fun! Roasting marshmallows and watching a movie would be a great way to spend the evening, but after a day of travel I am sure you were exhausted!

Sheree! I had no idea you had started--I've been waiting over at your PTR for you to put a link up... :rolleyes1 Anyway, I'm here now and all caught up. :thumbsup2

OH MY GOSH!! I knew I was forgetting to put it somewhere!! I better put it over there too! Sorry!

OK, caught up! Always wondered what the rooms looked like, nice!:thumbsup2
We've stayed just across the way in the villas that overlook the grassy area. Could have waved to you!
You really should try Cape May for dinner next time, we love it!
Beach Club looks heavenly, I miss it!
Can't wait for more!

Paige ate my corn.

Hmmmmm, I seem to remember her eating your corn somewhere else!!!!!:rolleyes1 :lmao: Do you ever get to eat your corn??? ;)

Captain's Grille looks not too bad. :) I think the reason it was on our "might be good to try" list is because it had other kids dessert options other than ice cream! Poor Nat is lactose intolerant and can not eat ice cream!!! She misses out on A LOT of dessert at WDW!!! :sad1:

The pool looks so nice! My kids would TOTALLY love it!!! :goodvibes

Can't wait to hear about emh @ MK!!! :cool1:

What a great first day you had. The BC looks beautiful. I hope to explore it in Dec. Glad your dinner was yummy. The cheesecake presentation was odd. Can't wait to hear about MK. :surfweb:

Just caught up with your trippie, sounds like you had a great time - and I'm loving your photos, the room decor is beautiful.

Could I be any later? Here now!
It's about time! What have you been doing? Working? HA!

OK, caught up! Always wondered what the rooms looked like, nice!:thumbsup2

Oh yeah! Paige and the corn! She's so happy to have her front teeth to eat it! She got one at the fair and I ate what she didn't. We always share!
I don't recall what the other kids' desserts were - sorry we couldn't review them for you!
Yeah - the pool was great - when we got to use it!
emh @ MK - well you'll see...

What a great first day you had. The BC looks beautiful. I hope to explore it in Dec. Glad your dinner was yummy. The cheesecake presentation was odd. Can't wait to hear about MK. :surfweb:
You really have to see it in Dec. all decked out for Christmas. They have a great display and decorations. I have some pictures in my Dec 2009 TR (link below).

Just caught up with your trippie, sounds like you had a great time - and I'm loving your photos, the room decor is beautiful.
Hi! We did have a blast and I loved our room! It was bright and sunny and comfortable.

All of that food from CG looks delicious!!! I'd love to eat there sometime.

Your room looks so nice and just makes me want to stay at the BC even more. I'm sure I wouldn't be able to pull Madison out of Stormalong Bay!

Wonderful update....isn't the BC just beautiful? I want to (and will!!!) stay there again. ;)
Dinner looked good...mmmm those crab legs...I could eat so many of them....just don't ever seem to get filled up on them. Love the king crabs even more:thumbsup2 I agree with Wigd....check out Cape May next time for dinner...so delicious...again I could eat about 100 clams!!
Can't wait to see your DD's new ride! :thumbsup2
