What are the rules on Lightsabers?

Hello, new member, but long time Disney Fan. Next year I am going on a cruise that has the Star Wars Day at Sea, and due to the fact that I love costumes and propmaking, I obviously need to have a costume for it (and Pirate Night, but I already have that figured out) Anyways, my plan for the Lightsabers was to get two of those cheap ones that you just flick your wrist to extend, and then repaint them to make them look a little more used... I wasn't sure if this would be allowed or not, so I decided to ask here while I wait for Disney to reply to my email. Thanks!

We bought a lightsaber for DS on the Disney Fantasy 3 months ago so they are still allowed. All gun type toys and knives are banned as far as I know.
Oh and welcome :)

We did the SWDAS cruise last January (2016) and the rules then were that lightsabers were the ONLY "weapons" allowed. No blasters, knives, or any other weapon props (no matter how obviously a prop), but lightsabers were OK.

Do you remember if anyone had plastic swords at pitate night @nlflores ? I'm packing tonight for our cruise. We brought this 2 years ago but things change.

Thanks

and i think that Disney wants you to leave yours at home and buy new ones onboard :teeth: I think this even goes for some of the banned items.

Good to know that it seems Lightsabers are allowed! Especially since I don't want something that looks exactly the same as everyone else's lightsabers! I already knew about the guns and knives, but the swords thing is kind of annoying

My son got a plastic sword last week on the Dream with the cheapest package of pirates league

Seems like banned items are anything that could be reasonably mistaken for a real weapon for a few seconds, enough to cause alarm or outright panic. I don't think a pirate cutlass or lightsaber fit that bill.

A DL-44 blaster, though? Yeah, I can see why that would not be allowed.

The lightsabers have to be the collapsable ones. If they are the hard sparing saber they won't let it on.

Whatever you do, do not call and ask if it is Ok. I was going to make and bring a homemade one. I called to see if I could bring it and was told no, you can't bring one on board. Then later during the SWDAS I saw lots of homemade light sabers.

Interesting... Do you think a metal hilt would be an issue?

Do they even sell that type in the parks? I've seen a few kylo ones but they were in the box and I thought they had to be picked up ar the front.
They do. They are more slender with clear tube and different colored lighting effects.

The light saber toy made the list of most ludicrous warning label.

So .... I guess the least likely item to pass security and board. IMO.
Regardless of the flimsy design and whatnot.
Pax, please understand the protocols. Details matter.

Jump to 14:00. then jump to 30:00, then jump to 32:00.

Enjoy

We were on the Fantasy last week. Many light sabers were around both collapsible and not. It was lots of fun! So many great costumes!! I was thrilled when the Storm Troopers walked up to us as we were playing shuffle board on Deck 4. Just like on the commercials! So cool!!

I also saw plastic swords on Pirate Day so they were not taking those away either.
