What are Pomme Frites???

I'm curious they sound yummy but are they just french fries? We are leaving on Thursday and after reading the "what are you looking forward to eating" thread I can't wait to start eating my thru the park. I've been off sugar since Jan. 1st and am allowing myself to indulge that week.

They're just french fries. But I suppose to make them more Pomme Fritesest, you could dip them in mayonaise.

They are pretty much french fries covered in parsley (I think) and parmesan cheese. They come with a wonderful dipping sauce. They are quite tastey!

Pomme Frites (or Pommes Frites) means "French Fry" in Danish, German, Norwegian, and Swedish. I had gone to Disneyland right after I went to Denmark a few years ago and I get really excited when Pomme Frites were on the menu!

I wanted to add that although they are french fries they are more flavorful than plain fries and if you are iffy you should try them at least once. I was surprised at how yummy they are.

They are absolutely the BEST fries ever!!!! Seriously, even better than garlic fries at the ball game. Try them, you'll love them!!!

The sauce that they serve with the pomme frites is beyond good. I always ask for three sides of that stuff and then I need a couple more for dunking my monte cristo. Yummalicious! Does anybody know what is in that stuff?

Tried them by accident last year and thought we had died and gone to french fry heaven! The sauce makes all the difference!

And French (in French, potato is "pomme de terre" or "apple of the earth" [dunno why it's called that]). That dipping sauce is aioli, which is typically made with a mayo base and often includes cheese or some other flavoring. I think it was the Dutch started with mayo on fries trend, but it's more common than catsup on the continent as a fry accompaniment and is becoming more popular in the US as the foodie movement gains momentum.

That's what I did. I got the pomme frites and a salad but the salad was just to make myself feel like i wasn't just eating french fries for lunch.

The sauce they come with is actually a cajun spice remoulade. It's like a spicy creamy dipping sauce. Sooooooo good! DD and I shared an order along with a Monte Cristo last fall.

They actually brought us a refill for some reason that I can't remember... But anyways, we were so full of fries that we had no room for our meals when they came. We just boxed them up and took them home. We will definately get these again and make a meal of it!

OK..so I guess for lunch I will get the gumbo with dirty rice, the fries and beignets..then I will drag my weighted down body back to the hotel and sleep for three hours....

I believe it's simply because apples and potatoes are similar in texture but taters are grown in the ground, hence the "earth" portion of the name. I think that's what I remember my French teacher saying high school but honestly, that was soooooooooooo many years ago.....it's hard to remember that far back! LOL

Everynow and then i am sooooooooooooooooOOoooo wanting pomme frittes.. they are delicious! Sometimes my DH and i will get these and a salad, it makes a light meal.
