What age did you stop hiding eggs for Easter?

Zero? I've never seen the allure of egg hunts, and even as a kid the idea of a rabbit leaving eggs made absolutely no sense.

I'm not sure our kids ever participated in one, to tell you the truth. They are all about the "chocolate for breakfast!" experience of the basket, instead. Around the time they turned 7 or so we stopped using baskets and transitioned to gift bags, but at 24 & 14 they still want the chocolate. I make one for DH, too; he has a monster sweet tooth.
I'm trying to remember....I can't! I'm sure we musta done it a time or two, and must of taken the kids over to hunt eggs with their cousins.
They got baskets till they got older, end of high school maybe? We don't do baskets or egg hunts or anything these days.

I don't recall when we stopped hiding Easter Eggs for our kids.
My mother, however, insisted they come over every Easter to search for eggs in her half acre backyard. The last year they did that they were 25 and 21. Mom passed away a year later, it is a special memory for all of us.

Same. My parents, grandparents, or other relatives never had an egg hunt when i was growing up, and I can’t recall ever going to a public one elsewhere.

I never brought my DDs to one either.

🤷‍♀️ It’s just something that was never important to us.

As our children became teens and early twenties, we still had other guests at Easter gatherings with young children so we never actually stopped. The older kids seemed to enjoy helping the young children find the hidden eggs. We now follow up with an ‘adult’ Easter egg hunt. I buy airplane serving sized bottles of various alcohol and put them in empty plastic Easter eggs and hide them around the yard once the kids are done. It has been a big hit.

My kids are 11, 13, 16 & 18. They have all said they’re excited for an egg hunt & baskets. So not this year!

My boys are in their 20’s. They still enjoy an Easter egg hunt if we are all together at Easter. The eggs are stuffed with cash, so that always makes things more competitive.

You could fill the eggs with the best of both worlds, chocolates filled with alcohol.

13. But my son still wants a scavenger hunt so assuming that continues to college. Those 10 clues man they take some time. He’s struggling with geometry. Wonder how much he’d kill me to make it 10 math problems 🤣

My inlaws used to have everyone over for Easter. The adults would hide eggs all over the yard. The kids were released in age order (youngest to oldest) The whole thing took about 30 seconds. As the kids grew, Grandpa still set it up. I think the last one was the year before he passed. My DD was the second oldest grandchild and at 27 still egg hunting!. This year we have all adults, but I'm thinking about a fun adult egg hunt.

We never did one for DS either. I think he probably participated in egg/treat hunts a few times with others but it's been lots of years since he was an appropriate age for that. Easter is the most significant celebration of our faith so we always kept the focus on that. We always have treats but definitely never belabored the bunny or basket thing.

I made up a basket with chocolate, jelly beans, etc for each child and hid them around the house. Never did an egg hunt.

Still doing egg hunts, for children all over age 27! I use plastic eggs, which are filled with various wrapped candies, and the eggs are hidden inside the house (though the hunt was conducted outside a few times when weather was decent and they were really young).

The hunt begins with a note from the Easter Bunny telling how many eggs are hidden (and how many are yellow/golden) as well as the first clue to finding their hidden Easter baskets. The yellow/golden eggs also contain slips of paper directing them to a location where some special treat is waiting (bag of candy or some gift item). The subsequent basket location clues, again on small slips of paper, take you all over the house.

One child is now over three thousand miles a way so their hunt is a little easier, with all the eggs, clues, candy and gifts contained in a mailed box! During Covid shutdowns it was all done via the mail.

How is this any different from a rabbit filling a basket full of treats, or a fat old man in a red suit coming down the chimney to leave presents and fill a stocking? :rotfl2:

I've held the Easter Egg Hunt at my house as long as I can remember. First it was the kids, then my sister's grandkids and now my grandkids are in the mix. We don't fill the eggs, we count how many they find. The winner gets first pick of the prizes I buy. I do have two Golden eggs they can try to find. They are a huge hit! Katie, my 13 year old niece still brags about how many times she has found the Golden eggs!

When they move? My youngest is 18. I will be needing to hide eggs. It's a toss up if the 21 year old will be around or not until later.
