What’s for Dinner Tonight?

I serve mashed potatoes. We like to mix the potatoes and sauerkraut together.
Our family has a pressure cooker recipe we've made since I was little... hot dogs, sauerkraut and potatoes together in the pressure cooker until the potatoes are done. We usually mash the potatoes and sauerkraut together on the plate and top with butter, salt and pepper. Potatoes and sauerkraut is a good combination!

A friend and I have been doing a seafood shack tour hitting a different place the last few weekends We have gone to:

Lobster Landing
Abbot’s
Costellos
Bill’s
The Ferry Chill and Grill

Today we are going to The Place which is super fun. You sit on tree stumps and eat at tables that are made from the spools of electrical wire. They cook everything over a 18 foot open fire. They serve a few main dishes, lobster, steak, steamers, chicken, etc and you bring your sides drinks and desserts. People do it up kind of like if you’ve been to tanglewood to see music.

I made chocolate almond cupcakes because we are celebrating a few birthdays.

Time to replenish the freezer. The beans I soaked yesterday are becoming a 15 bean soup gone Frenchified 🤣. I’m using a French bean soup method as the base and then veering back to whichever American region makes bean soup, lol.

I’m also soaking great Northern beans tonight so that Monday or Tuesday, I can make Potage Purée Soissonaise which is a white bean soup.
Half the remaining processed tomatoes remain to make a tomato and corn soup but I’m trying to hold them until Tuesday for an ingredient at the farmers market.

Finally, I’ve a pork roast marinating in the fridge. It’ll be a pernil, Latin style with lots of garlic.

Tonight’s dinner will be pulled pork with carrot slaw and since I’d one potato left turned it into potato salad.

Today is a family lunch and pool time.
DH is smoking a pork loin stuffed with cheddar, cream cheese, and jalapenos. Rubbed with a spicy blend.
Also potato salad, corn on the cob, veggie plate, watermelon, variety of chips.
Silk pie for dessert and for DD leftover gluten free chocolate chip cheesecake.

Taking a break from early morning vegetable prepping; want to use my home attendant’s time to the best advantage since she’s only here for 5 hours and it can go faster than you think. So all the needed veggies are prepped excepting the onion-she can do that.

Making a chicken tortilla soup using fresh tomatoes instead of canned. Should be interesting. Of course that’ll be portioned for the freezer when it’s done.

Invited to a neighbor’s terrace party today so I’m using my strip steak to make a Thai beef salad and using the last of last weeks plums and peaches for a cobbler. No idea what others are bringing but sure I’ll be delightfully surprised.

I took a bonus day off from work and it’s gorgeous today! I went to the farm stand and got some corn, then went to the butcher for a ribeye for DH. I’ll grill the ribeye for him and a tuna steak for me with corn and I’m going to roast potatoes because I harvested my first bag of potatoes today. I’ll roast the small ones snd ones with any with imperfections as they won’t store well. 3 more bags of potatoes to harvest!
