We've Bounced Back like Tigger SB09 TR NEW 9/11 CLOSING TIME....

More of Day 5) On our way to MK….I think?

So I last left you w/ us deciding to stay at the MP and have lunch here…we opted for Earl of Sandwich and were able to find a table to sorta fit the 7 us. My Mom went in first w/ Michael to order their food and I waited w/ the girls. I think Matt was taking a rest room break, cause I remember waiting awhile on my own….

He then got food for the girls and us, I didn’t even look at a menu I just told him you know what I like…turkey, bacon, ranch, tomato and lettuce….

He did well because my sandwich was :thumbsup2

100_2468.jpg

I believe Michael and Mae both had the pizza sandwich and Aldine had a meatball one:

100_2466.jpg

The sandwiches were so yummy, fresh and toasty hot…a huge difference from the local sub place back home. They were almost too-big for one child to eat, but w/ the CS credits…it didn’t matter too much. Matt got a chicken ceaser wrap and ordered an assortment of chips, and dessert sides for us to share. There wasn’t really an option for Margaret and he was going to look else where, but I said not to worry, let’s just eat, we’ll figure out something for her later….

Well she decided this tasty cup of strawberry Jell-O w/ fruit in it would be quite nice for her lunch :laughing:

100_2463.jpg

100_2465.jpg

I can’t believe I have not eaten here since 1998….has it changed a lot? I only remember a deli and store like place, nothing super to rave about, but maybe there was something else here then :confused: anyways for everyone who says this is yummy food is right. I would for sure eat here again w/ the kids….but after reading even more rave reviews of WPE…we may have to eat twice at the MP…;)

I also have to say there was this group of 8 50-60 (aged) something adults eating together near us with no signs of older children or grandkids…they looked like they were having a grand ‘ol time eating, laughing and chatting while having fun at Disney, now I can’t tell if they were local or travelers. But their spunky spirit made me smile and I truly hope DH & I will still be having and making memorable fun trips to Disney when we reach our golden years :goodvibes

As we starting finishing lunch, we took turns stopping at the rest area to change from our pants to shorts we had carried w/ us and after a little confusion how we’d carry all of these clothes now, DH decided we’d just rent a locker at the MK and get the stuff in the evening later if we needed it.

So now w/ full tummies and empty wallets we made our way back to the bus stop to make our way back to MK…

Now I did not think it could be that difficult or take super long, I’ve done this bus system over a few times and figured I knew what I was doing….little did I know the bus drivers didn’t have the same simple vision as me….

We decided we’d catch a bus back to say the Poly and then hop on the monorail and to MK we’d arrive…..

Yay right? :headache:

This was a not so fabulous bus journey….

* 1st wait for bus to arrive….

* Get on not too crowded bus, w/ actually a somewhat friendly singing bus driver…now that is a rarity these days (as I know KathyRN had pointed out in one of her reports)

* Stop at PI

* A bus driver change

* A stop at BB

* And then finally CR….

At this point it was well after 2 pm…and we were tired of being on the bus. So we opt to get off and walk over to MK. But of course a rest stop was needed, so I take 1 kid into the CR, to have another trail me, which then on the way out DH decides he has to go in….is this a game people :upsidedow

Oh and I have to say walking in the lower lobby of CR (which I have never done before) is liking stepping into the furniture/home store called IKEA…anybody know what I’m talking about :confused3

Now to our walk….which was actually kinda of nice.

But all in all I think it took us over 45 minutes to get from the MP to MK…..:faint:

I have noted we arrived at MK about 2:45 pm ish.

Matt and I found the lockers, which I think Disney moved on us….hadn’t they always been under the train station? And rented one and put our stuff in there, while the twins or maybe it was the girls pin traded w/ a CM…but actually I sorta think whoever was originally w/ me Aldine? saw a pin that Mae would like and we had to go get her and walk back but the CM was busy assisting another guest, so we had to wait. In the meantime I asked at the little shop for those the “Just Engaged Pins” to bring home for my DBrother and his fiancé…they wore them at their engagements party of course!

We found my Dad hanging out at a Chess table on the corner by Main Street and re-grouped and then headed into the park…to see what we could accomplish on my Park to-do Tour list:

Speedway
LFCC
Faries in Toontown
Mad Tea Party
Repeats in Fantasyland
MPHM
Haunted Mansion
TSI
CHH
POC
MCofA

Up NEXT: Trouble in Mike’s World…

Thanks for reading,

:faint: I'm exhausted just reading about your trip to MK! We had a few bus moments - I don't think any were quite that bad - and I was always trying to distract DH from realizing how long it was taking us to get from point A to point B. :rolleyes1

Who knows when we'll get to stay on property again, but I don't want the buses to be the reason he opts to stay elsewhere. ;)

PS - Those sandwiches looked super yummy!

Yes the DTD to MK ride...racks up there as one of our longest and tiring bus trips...we've had a few doosies in our time.

As only staying off-site once and never since going w/ Matt....we deal w/ the buses. To us Disney is not Disney w/out staying on-site...it's a trade-off we are willing to deal w/ at times....

but I so understand. I hope the next trip will be on -site for you guys and the bus travel will not be a deterent for Tim. :) letting someone else do the driving and not dealing w/ your own vechile and parking is part of DH's vacation. he likes to snooze on the bus :rolleyes1

Whew..sounds like you've had a busy day already and it's only half over!

We definitely need to try Earl of Sandwich on our next trip. Those sandwiches look SO good!

I agree with you about the buses. For the most part we have always had good experiences. The hardest trips seem to be the 'non-direct' ones....from resort to resort, from DTD to a park. Like Matt, Jeff would rather "leave the driving to Disney" when we are on vacation. He prefers to just sit back and arrive at our destination with no traffic hassle, etc. Not that he still doesn't make the occasional comment about having to wait or having to stand...but those are few and far between and a trade-off we are willing to make. To each his own though...regardless...you're at Disney! :banana:

What a pain with the bathroom shuffle at CR! The power of suggestion can be incredible! No one has to go till one person mentions it! The same thing happens with drinks of water when I teach Children's Church...one person is thirsty and suddenly the whole room needs a drink! LOL!

Can't wait to see what gets crossed off that To-Do list! :surfweb:

Thanks for the welcome and I agree Disney is the best kinda family trip ;) I just finished catching up with the PTR, all I can say is WOW :worship: and thanks for all the great tips!

I just had to comment on a few things...

Traveling with Aspergers (high-functioning Autism) and ADHD:

Michael neither is just an Aspie or a kid w/ ADHD…nor is he a boy who loves tackle football or playing in the dirt. Michael is who he is in the Perfect Design that God planned for him, before I even knew his name.

J-

Perfect Design that God planned for him!! That's a wonderful sentiment...this whole post had me in tears. You and your family should be commended on your courage and understanding in the face of your challenges and blessings. God Bless you all!

My Spending Budget

I appreciate those who share their budgets because it can help you gage what is reasonable and how much you should be thinking to spend. Yes WDW is expensive but there are many ways to cut corners and try and save a little here to spend more there right?:idea:
J- :shamrock: Ps only 5 days till ST. PATRICK'S DAY :shamrock:

Thank you for sharing your budget...you remember all the little things I always forget about so have to say that I borrowed your list as a starting point for our budget :rolleyes1

Oh, we love EoS! We had breakfast there our last day - can't wait to eat there again!

Well she decided this tasty cup of strawberry Jell-O w/ fruit in it would be quite nice for her lunch :laughing:

Aww, she's so adorable princess: Sounds like a good lunch to me!

OK, as someone who just turned 40yo, I have to disagree that people in their 50-60s can be classified as either middle-aged or in their golden years! Yeah, OK, so I'm in denial :laughing:

So, is the CR's lower lobby seemingly without an exit, does it wind around endlessly, does it have a dearth of exit signage, does it have a mediocre Swedish restaurant or is it full of things that I didn't know I needed, but bought because I thought I needed them? :lmao:

I missed this update the other day!

I am thinking that most of the bus driver shift changes happen at DTD about 2pm because I've had that happen at least twice before.

I'm glad to read that lunch went smoothly!

I'm not caught up, but I just had to say I totally stole your husband's Mother's Day gift idea...thanks! :rolleyes1
