Where do you all make friends as adults?

My husband and I, both Disney fans... Obviously, I'm on here :).. Find it hard to make friends outside of work. We are a monogamous couple and for the most part that is the issue. Typically people are just looking for more then friendship. We tried using Bumble BFF and that was more of the same. Any suggestions would be great!

Whether either of you is any kind of believer not you may find a church with a thriving gay community that has activities you are interested in. Best I can give you.
I am in recovery and you could not find a more diverse and friendly bunch if you look around.
Also, my wife and I are straight but always invite all our friends, not just the ones like us.

My husband and I are nerds so we end up meeting folks at game conventions. (I say "we" but it's mostly him--I'm not a big people person). On the flip side I tried a 'girls who game' meetup and it was an absolute disaster 😅

We honestly ended up making a friend while waiting in the lounge of 50's Primetime--my husband noticed someone had the same niche travel bag as him, they started chatting, it it turned out she was in the same military branch as him--worked in an office not too far away from where we were stationed.

Are there any activities you're interested in that might have strong communities? Rock climbing, dance, or even volunteer work like Habitat for Humanity? Community choir?

Develop hobbies. I have never had issues making friends bc I’ve always been active in fandoms, cosplay, etc. There are lgbt meetup groups for everything under the sun.

Volunteering, looking for events in town like board game nights, etc.

When you find out, will you let me in on the secret? Single here so I think it's more assumed that I am 'game' when I really would like to make new friends.

I know what you mean Mattieray. Me and my husband are in the same position - it can be hard to make new friends as an adult. I have been thinking about starting/trying new hobbies too but that can be daunting!

I'm a straight male but have the same issue as I lack adult male friends. I honestly think it's just really difficult today for adult men to make authentic friendships with other men, regardless of orientation, that are able to last. I have three boys in grade school, so a lot of my "friends" are other dads of other kids from school. But they are often fleeting unless I'm the one being intentional to hangout or whatever. Men just aren't taught today to be intentional in forming bonds with other men. From my life experience, it appears men normally need to share something in common. Perhaps, think about what you enjoy and see if doing that allows you to meet other like-minded people. Unfortunately, to make adult male friends, you'll likely have to be the one to put yourself out there.

I just talk a lot about my hobbies and people start either hating me or befriending me because they’re obsessed too. Luckily a lot of people around here are ski obsessed. Still looking for more Disney obsessed ppl tho.

This is a good way of thinking about it!

Trivia nights and events at pubs, bars and restaurants. Local festivals and farmers markets. Volunteering. Join some facebook groups, check instagram too! I found a group of friends at a karaoke night. :)
