Sorry guys...

life has been geting in the way of my Dis-ing...:sad2:

btwn our weekend away, visiting w/ my Aunt and her family up from Atlanta, and carting the kids from camp to camp etc...I've had little face time w/ the Dis.

This is actually the first night in a week we have all been home to veg out!

Sad news though, a cousin of mine was ain a serious car accident over the weekend, and broke several vertabre, had a steel pole placed in his back and now needs to be in full body cast for 3 weeks....

as well my Mother after 18 yrs working for the same bank was laid off...:guilty: just 4 yrs shy of retirenment

the rest of the week is crazy....so I hope soon to get Day 5) up and running for you all!

Thanks for stickin w/ me :grouphug:

Fantasmic! is such a GREAT show! I'm so glad you were able to stay and enjoy it! That was great that you were only there 45 minutes early and got seats! (We weren't nearly as lucky as you'll hear about coming up in my TR. :sad2:)

What a great DH to take one for the team and do the laundry!

It's so fun to have the glow bracelets isn't it! I highly recommend it to anyone heading to WDW...it's a great way to share the magic and save some money on those expensive light-up toys the vendors sell.

Oooohh...shopping! Can't wait to hear about your next day!

What a relief that you got seats all together!! I like the ones up at the top, too. Better view, IMO. Plus, you don't get hit with any water spray!

('m sure you'd had enough of that already with all that rain!)

Getting out of there is always a bit daunting....

Wow... halfway through the trip already!!

Kathy

Hey Scrappie!
I am so glad that you guys got to see F!, what a wonderful day...except for the soymilk that is! I am debating on whether or not to try and see it for our upcoming trip. My plan was to only do a ,1/2 day in DHS...not sure on that though. I can't believe that we are 1/2 way through this trip already?!? I can't wait to read more.

Your Tiggers look great!

I LOVE that beach print that you bought. I might have to hunt that down for myself. It would be PERFECT in my bedroom!

I can't believe it took them so long to get you soymilk! They must have picked the soybeans themselves from the garden out back! :rotfl:

I've had a burger from ABC Commissary before and was also disappointed. LIve and learn, I guess!

I'm glad the evening ended good. Love me some F!

I'm sad we skipped Fantasmic this year! I'm glad you got to see it and the rain tapered off for you. :thumbsup2 Thanks for the photos to bring me down memory lane. :goodvibes

Thank you everone for reading and saying  to me....just need to keep this short...for some must needed quiet family time! plus I'm typing with a meling ice cream cone in my hand....:rolleyes1

Yes the soymilk incedent was nutty...maybe they did squeeze those beans...

F! was so very awesome...I hope we can see it again next yr! :yay:

I love all the art in that store...hope you can find one just like it, in your upcoming trip...Lisa.

Hope all are well..

Day 5) Monday March 30, 2009

Shopping at Marketplace and Magic Kingdom

Plan for the Day:

Sleep in a bit…

Us & my Mom go over to Marketplace to shop (try to arrive around opening 9am)

Hit some shops

Watch our sitter play in her band around 10:30 am

Shop some more?

Lunch at the Marketplace or at MK

Meet up w/ my Dad at MK and tour for the afternoon into evening

Dinner at MK

Stay to see Spectromagic

Skip Wishes

We did sleep in a bit and were casually getting ready to go…though the usual hurried feeling did overcome me as I really would have loved to get to the MP as close to 9 am as possible, to ensure some good quality shopping before our sitter’s show…

We had breakfast in the room and I’m sure I got Margaret’s bagel toasted from the Pepper Market when my Dad went to get his morning coffee.

We all headed out; about the same time (us to catch a bus to DTD and my Dad went to have some hot bfast before hanging out at the resort)

We arrived at the Marketplace around 9:15 am…so we were doing pretty well. There didn’t seem to be that many people here yet, so the word out about shopping on a weekday morning is worth taking a morning off from park touring…:thumbsup2

After stopping to take a few pictures

100_2448.jpg

100_2449.jpg

100_2450.jpg

like Margaret's face?

as you can see in the picture above, we had pants and sweatshirts on to start this day...it was the only time the whole trip, we actually felt a bit cold...

100_2451.jpg

100_2452.jpg

Margaret and some friends....

We went in the Christmas store…and I don’t know how those of you who went shopping didn’t buy anything :confused3 it was basically empty inside and I bought each of the kids an ornament (sorry no pictures I haven’t un wrapped them from the box)

Michael picked out a Goofy one (it was like a drop twisted red & white swirl)

Aldine got a Tinkerbell ornament

Mae picked out a Sleeping Beauty one (she says it was shiny, pretty, pink dress and yellow hair)

Margaret got a little plush set that was on sale that included a tree, Mickey, Minnie, etc)

I also bought two ornaments for myself, one was Mickey, a woodsy county Christmas style and ??? well it will be a surprise come December.

Next we went to the $10 and under store…we got a few more things here:

A princess fork & spoon set for Margaret which she uses all the time, Matt picked out a 4 park puzzle set, Michael and him have put together the AK one so far.

100_2996.jpg

100_2998.jpg

Next we stopped in the Team Mickey store on a shopping errand for a friend of mine (I picked up a sports MM bobble head statue for their son’s bedroom).

By then it was close to 10:30 am, so we found some seats at the outdoor theatre and waited for it to begin. They performed about 6 songs and did a really nice job. It was fun to see our sitter and support the school (this is not the HS our kids will go to) and the arts.

100_2453.jpg

100_2454.jpg

We watched them walk out and waved bye to her. The performance lasted about 30 minutes. Next we went in to the World of Disney Store (which I later realized it would have been a smarter to plan to go here first and then shop in reverse) the store was already getting pretty crowded and by the time we were done shopping it was pretty full and hard to shop.

Here’s Josefina ready to shop:
100_2459.jpg

I wanted to try and find something nice for Mae and Margaret since we didn’t really buy them anything (big) yet. Other things on the list were a new hat for Michael the Mickey one he has (that we bought last year was faded) and a new Disney themed picture frame for our house. I also wanted to use my Disney Visa and save the 10% on whatever we purchased. We started out under the Stitch in the boy area and winded our way throughout the store, looking at things.

100_2462.jpg

Man, as much fun this store can be, it can also be crazy trying to keep track of everyone and not get overwhelmed w/ all the options.

After wondering around for quite awhile, we did find some great things:

A princess placemat for Margaret

100_3547.jpg

Matt picked out a WDW/Mickey sweatshirt that came in a little cloth backsack (he later was scared at how much it was $60) but it is very nice…high quality.

100_2974.jpg

We got a new Mickey hat for Michael (same one from before)

A b-day present for our Nephew who’s birthday was coming up, I got him some fun mouse-ears that had Donald and Goofy in the ears and stars over the hat.

And after much debate decided on this new WDW frame for my at home collection:

100_3554.jpg

100_3555.jpg

as you can see I have yet to add my own photos, but the pre-fab ones are not that bad to look at!

As we were ringing up I also purchased a shopping special, the WDW Mickey & Minnie throw for $15 that now stays on our bed.

100_3550.jpg

100_3552.jpg

My Mom also got me this awesome WDW Castle shirt:

100_2976.jpg

And I think a couple things for the kids and herself.

Oh by the pictures she bought Aldine a Jasmine outfit for her 18" doll at home:

100_2950.jpg

The actual ringing up process took a while and there was some confusion in what we were sending back to the room and what we were keeping w/ us….Matt took the kids outside to the Lego store to play a few minutes….but it was too crowded at that point and you could tell everyone was stressed out from shopping and getting hungry! Michael was flustered that he did not get something yet from Grandma…and I assured him there was plenty more shops to go to later….but the thought was too much. So we walked thru the Once Upon a Toy store and he found 2 new Disney inspired character themed cars to add to his collection at home

100_2958.jpg

At this point I know we had some confusion of where everyone was (we got split up in the store...etc where to meet outside) and some snippy words were expressed between DH & I as to what to do next…eat here or move on to MK, meet my Dad and eat there. I don’t have a time written down in my book but I can guess it was after 12:30 pm for sure.

We opted to stay and eat here and my Mom called my Dad and told him to eat lunch at CSR and meet us at MK around 2 pm.

So where did we eat and did we make it back to MK by 2 pm? :confused3

Hope I can remember…..

Thanks for reading,

J-

just read through your whole report--wow!!! Even with a large family and different needs, you guys are having a blast!! Its been fun reading--thanks for sharing:cool1:

Hi Julie!

Great update! Shopping...woo-hoo! That World of Disney Store is certainly overwhelming and it's difficult to keep track of everyone in there. Good for you for even trying! :thumbsup2

LOVE the little Jasmine doll outfit...way cute!

I'm kicking myself now for not buying anything in the Christmas shop. What on earth was I thinking?? :confused3 I just wanted so much it was easier to walk out with nothing. In retrospect I should have at least bought a 2009 ornament. Stink. I'll have to find one online..not as good.

Cute new frame. I have the one in the pic on the far right. I also bought a new one this trip. Nice choice..love the Mickey Head frame! :goodvibes

Can't wait to hear about lunch and meeting up with Dad! popcorn::

Next we went in to the World of Disney Store (which I later realized it would have been a smarter to plan to go here first and then shop in reverse) the store was already getting pretty crowded and by the time we were done shopping it was pretty full and hard to shop.

I figured out the same exact thing during my Oct trip. Plus it's the only store to get the Disney Visa discount at so it's better to make most of your purchases here if possible.

Yay! Shopping! You found some great deals! Love the blanket and the picture frames

I'll bet you had lunch at WPE or EoS (I sooooo love both of those places - delicious!) I hope you made it back to MK in time! :scared:

100_2450.jpg

like Margaret's face?

:lmao: Oooh someone wasn't a happy shopper!!!

At this point I know we had some confusion of where everyone was (we got split up in the store...etc where to meet outside) and some snippy words were expressed between DH & I as to what to do next…

That darn low blood sugar... does it to ya every time!! ;)

Kathy

Wow - you collected a lot of loot on your shopping outing! At first I thought just you and your mom were going - I'm impressed that you made it through a whole morning of shopping with the kids - that would have been a nightmare for us - which I guess is why we didn't hit DTD this year... :rolleyes1

Love the new frame! :thumbsup2

I am enjoying your trip report! You have such an adorable family! I love the picture of Mae helping Margaret out of the seat on the bus! Too cute! Looking forward to the next installment!

Hi!! Joining in.:goodvibes I'm loving your trip report--such great pictures!!! :thumbsup2 You have a beautiful family. I can't wait to read more.......

Wow! You made lots of great purchases!

I love your Disney photo frame collection. Such a great idea.

I always get snippy when I'm starving too! I hate that!

I really like your DH's shirt, I'll have to get one next time were there, and about the blood stain on the shirt try putting some peroxide on it. I work with a Dentist so you can imagine what my scrubs look like after an extraction LOL. It works like magic...
Oh and before I forget, I really like the Mickey picture frame, everytime I see it I want it but then I forget to buy it. I thought it would be cute to put individual pics of us since were a family of three , the ears would be my DH and I, and the face would be for my DS.

Yay! You made it for Fantasmic! One day I will see that show. :thumbsup2

Looks like you bought some awesome stuff at DTD! I LOVE your husband's sweatshirt!! And that picture frame is so cute. :goodvibes

Can't wait to see where you ended up eating.

You are a woman after my own heart! Shopping, shopping, and then some more shopping!:cutie: I'm very lucky, my DH loves to shop, too. I also have two out of the three picture frames that you have (the one that says WDW at the bottom and the Mickey head one to the left). I love picture frames, I could seriously do some damage with shopping for just those at WDW.:lmao: I love that Mickey and Minnie throw, too! The last ones we got were in 2007. They were the snowman ones that are more cotton-like. The year before we got the throws that have every park on them, and those are on our couches downstairs. They get plenty of use!

Whoops....It seems I have gotten behind in my Hello's to you all....who says summer is for R & R :confused3 It's been crazy busy these last 2 1/2 weeks...my Dis time has been few and far btwn.

just read through your whole report--wow!!! Even with a large family and different needs, you guys are having a blast!! Its been fun reading--thanks for sharing:cool1:

Hi and :welcome: Shannon

Thank you for reading my whole report and stopping by to say HI to me too...very fun. Good planning and spreading things out works well to meet the needs of a big family, we've been having a good trip so far!

Yes sooner or later I'll get some pic's in there

Can't wait to hear about lunch and meeting up with Dad! popcorn::

coming up soon!

I figured out the same exact thing during my Oct trip. Plus it's the only store to get the Disney Visa discount at so it's better to make most of your purchases here if possible.

Yes, lesson learned...I should have the MP shopping down for the next trip, go early and WoD 1st!

Yay! Shopping! You found some great deals! Love the blanket and the picture frames

Thanks....I'm sad the weather here is finally getting warm I had to take the blanket off our bed for now.

I'll bet you had lunch at WPE or EoS (I sooooo love both of those places - delicious!) I hope you made it back to MK in time! :scared:

Yep it's one of those and update coming soon...

That darn low blood sugar... does it to ya every time!! ;)

yep....the WoD got to us all and then w/ no solid plan we kinda crumbled....just justifies have some plans in "freshly layed concrete" so you can stick w/ it or get out if needed. I didn't quite have the hwole shooping morning planned out that great, it was a play by ear based on how long we were there....but we surived and .....

in upcoming report!

Wow - you collected a lot of loot on your shopping outing!

Oh that is just the 1/2 of it....I always say we are not going to buy as much as the last trip....but it is so hard to resist when you are there :rolleyes1

At first I thought just you and your mom were going - I'm impressed that you made it through a whole morning of shopping with the kids -

I really like your DH's shirt, I'll have to get one next time were there, and about the blood stain on the shirt try putting some peroxide on it. I

thanks for the tip...I will have to try that!

Oh and before I forget, I really like the Mickey picture frame, everytime I see it I want it but then I forget to buy it. I thought it would be cute to put individual pics of us since were a family of three , the ears would be my DH and I, and the face would be for my DS.

that sounds too cute...I hope you buy it on your upcoming trip!

Yay! You made it for Fantasmic! One day I will see that show. :thumbsup2

I just know you guys would all love it!

You are a woman after my own heart!

thanks....this really is the only place I actually enjoy shopping....at home in the mall, no thanks.

The last ones we got were in 2007. They were the snowman ones that are more cotton-like. The year before we got the throws that have every park on them, and those are on our couches downstairs. They get plenty of use!

sounds like you have a nice collection there....always something new to buy at Disney huh? That is why I am already saving extra $ here and there for spending in 11-010...never to soon to start, actually the very little $ that came home w/ us from the trip, went right in the Disney pot:thumbsup2

Next post up next.....
