Western Washington peeps

Barkley - my DS is a freshman at EWU. I'll have to tell him he missed out on the all the snow! We only got around 4" or so but the wind has been blowing it around, it's the really light dry snow.

:lmao:
HAHA so you know the Richland Bombers!!

Yes, but my brother was a Hanford Falcon and I graduated from Kennewick High (Lions). Now my brother goes to UW so he's been purple and yellow (er, GOLD) since the 6th grade! :rotfl:

I did go to Hanford High for a brief 4 months. Since I was the class of 2000, we were known as the Millennium Falcons! :rotfl:

Oh my gosh, you guys over on the east side....BRRRRR! I have a friend over in Naches but I haven't talked to her in a few days. She had been driving her kids to school earlier in the week even though it is close because it was just too cold to walk.

BelleBoo&AmisMum, how'd it go with the gen and the gas?

Best wishes everyone...we'll get through this!

Oh well I guess everyone can't be a COUG!!!

Its now a warm and toasty 5 degrees outside!
I hope the pass is open tomorrow...
I have tickets to see the Seahawks win..er...lose...:rolleyes1

Our problem is that a generator doesn't do us a whole lot of good unless we get one large enough to hook the septic tank pump to - we're talking thousands of dollars.

Right now dh is looking at propane heaters that are made to go INSIDE. They are less than $200 and in stock nearby so that might be our solution. We can cook with gas, we can light with candles and battery operated lanterns. Our septic tank issue will continue on regardless so we'll have to be careful - not knowing when the power will come back on. The freezer and refridgerator won't be an issue because it's so cold outside we can put it there! Last night I stuffed the empty spaces in the freezer full of containers of water for more ice.

The septic thing just drives me nuts. We have gas hot water and everything, we just can't use much of it if the power goes out for fear of tank overflow. It's always an issue because you never know how long the power will be out. If our septic drained downhill like normal ones we wouldn't have this issue, but it pumps uphill because we have "wetlands" behind us.

Okay you are hereby kicked off this thread. :snooty:

Just kidding (Husky here). :)

disykat...good luck. I hope if you lose power you get it back quickly. I have no water if I can't keep the gen running, but I don't need one big enough to run a septic pump because mine is gravity.

Found the generators and 7 gallons of gas, bonus! Froze my **** off out there though.

I took a bunch of pictures while I was out there - pics here.

Poor Pluto is freezing his gizzard! :lmao: I thought it was a bird house at first...IS it a bird house? Looks like it is up in the air...

I'm so glad you found everything! I'm off now to try to go get more gas. Haven't seen a single car go down my road in the past half an hour or so, though, so I'm a little worried. :sad2:

It's my antenna topper! It's frozen, I have a princess mouse ears set that's lower on the antenna, I can't see it at all anymore!

Good luck out there, we're just going to hope for the best at this point.

Nice pictures! We are in Bothell and have about 5". We are in un-incorporated Bothell in a residential neighborhood at the bottom of a big hill that ends in a cul-du-sac. Last night when we were sledding down our hill a sander came down and sanded our sliding hill. The kids were so upset they wanted to hit the plow with snowballs! I was really surprised that they came to our small neighborhood.

Hope everyone stays safe and warm in this next round! Good Luck!

Ahhhh, got it! I was having a heck of a time figuring out what he was.

21* here and snowing steady. We've probably gotten about an inch since we got back from the store. It's little flakes, not building up too quickly so far. How are the rest of you doing?

Little tiny flakes coming down right now, no wind to speak of and I've got the heat up a bit to get the house warmed up. We're thinking about making the younger two sleep in the living room instead of the bunk beds at the corner of the house. This one has me worried, I still have nightmares about 2006 and that crazy windstorm!

I hear ya. That was a bad one. There were people on our peninsula who were out of power for three weeks! :scared1: Thankfully we weren't among them. Ours was "only" out for eight days.

My kids are going to sleep in the living room too. They love making themselves a nest on the floor and sleeping out there.

There is no snow in Moses Lake yet.
its 7*

I hope you guys are ok over there.

We were out for eight and a half days, I remember hitting my breaking point on that last day and crying while filling up the generator....again. I had the TV on and was laying there feeling sorry for myself when the news did a live broadcast from just down the street and they had power. I went running into the street and sure enough the lights were coming on.

The girls are all excited to sleep in the living room, they want to know if they can eat in their "bedroom" tonight. I think they're talking about making a fort too since they're sleeping on the floor in the middle of the sectional.

Looks like the winds may not be as strong, they're saying 25-45mph for us tonight. :wizard:

I called my friend in Moses Lake the other day and asked her how she was doing over there, she wanted to know what the heck I was on. Apparently it was fine over there and she hadn't been watching the news. :rotfl2:

I haven't watched the news. I'm glad to hear that. 25-45 shouldn't knock us out of power. Now if the ice storm just doesn't develop, it might just be a real pretty snow weekend and nothing too bad! :thumbsup2

We're watching King and they're saying Monroe west should be in the 25-45 range with stronger gusts, which is better than the 50-70 with gusts! The snow is really coming down though.

DH is starting to get antsy, he wants out - needs to start his christmas shopping. :rolleyes1

:rotfl2: That sounds like my husband. ALWAYS waits until the last minute, and every so many years something like this comes up and fouls him up. This year he is in Iraq, so he's off the hook for shopping.

I hope your husband is safe and sound and coming home soon. I can't image having mine gone for long periods of time, well sometimes I can.... ;)

Still snowing a lot with not much wind....*knock on wood* it stays that way.
